This book was released on 1994 with total page 111 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CETTE ETUDE CONSISTAIT A POSER LES PRINCIPES D'UNE ARCHITECTURE MULTIPROCESSEUR DEDIEE A UNE FONCTION SPECIFIQUE: LA RESOLUTION DES SYSTEMES D'EQUATIONS AUX DERIVEES PARTIELLES EN 3D. NOUS VISONS UN GAIN DE TEMPS GRACE AU PARALLELISME ET AUX RESTRICTIONS DU DOMAINE D'APPLICATION DU SYSTEME. L'ASPECT NUMERIQUE REPOSE SUR UNE METHODE ITERATIVE DE GAUSS-SEIDEL RELAXEE, APPLIQUEE A UNE DISCRETISATION DE TYPE VOLUMES FINIS SUR UN MAILLAGE ADAPTATIF ENTRELACE. CES CHOIX ONT ETE FAITS AVEC L'IDEE D'UNE APPROCHE MULTIPROCESSEUR, POUR OPTIMISER LES GAINS DU PARALLELISME ET LIMITER LES CONTRAINTES DE CELUI-CI. NOUS AVONS ADOPTE UN PARALLELISATION PAR DECOMPOSITION SPATIALE DU DOMAINE SELON UNE GRILLE 3D, CE QUI LIMITE A SIX LE MAXIMUM DE LIAISONS PAR MODULE. IL EST ESSENTIEL DE RECOUVRIR LES TRANSFERTS DE DONNEES PAR LES CALCULS. UNE SIMULATION SUR MACHINE SEQUENTIELLE A MONTRE QUE LES PARAMETRES IMPORTANTS A PRENDRE EN COMPTE LORS DE LA PARALLELISATION DE CES EQUATIONS SONT L'ORDRE DE PARCOURS DES POINTS DU VOLUME ETUDIE, LE NOMBRE DE POINTS ELEMENTAIRES PAR SOUS-DOMAINE, LA COMMUNICATION ENTRE LES DIFFERENTS PROCESSEURS. NOUS AVONS AINSI DEFINI ET TESTE UN ALGORITHME ORIGINAL DE PARCOURS DES POINTS PERMETTANT A LA FOIS DE MIEUX MASQUER LES TRANSFERTS DE DONNEES ET D'OPTIMISER UN FONCTIONNEMENT EN PIPELINE. CE TRAVAIL DE THESE CONSTITUE LA BASE DE TRAVAUX EN COURS AU LABORATOIRE, DONT LES PERSPECTIVES SONT LA REALISATION D'UN SYSTEME A 16 PROCESSEURS QUI CONSERVERA DANS CHACUN DES MODULES L'ARCHITECTURE ET LES ALGORITHMES DEFINIS DANS CETTE ETUDE

This book was released on 1996 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CE TRAVAIL SE SITUE DANS LE CADRE D'UN PROJET VISANT A REALISER UN SYSTEME ELECTRONIQUE DESTINE A LA RESOLUTION PARALLELE DE SYSTEMES D'EQUATIONS AUX DERIVEES PARTIELLES EN TROIS DIMENSIONS.

This book was released on 1995 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Architecture d di e au traitement d image bas sur les quations aux d riv es partielles written by Eva Dejnozkova (Ingénieur).) and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Relativity and Scientific Computing

Download or read book Relativity and Scientific Computing written by Friedrich W Hehl and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-02-12 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For this set of lectures we assumed that the reader has a reasonable back ground in physics and some knowledge of general relativity, the modern theory of gravity in macrophysics, and cosmology. Computer methods are present ed by leading experts in the three main domains: in numerics, in computer algebra, and in visualization. The idea was that each of these subdisciplines is introduced by an extended set of main lectures and that each is conceived as being of comparable 'importance. Therefpre we believe that the book represents a good introduction into scientific I computing for any student who wants to specialize in relativity, gravitation, and/or astrophysics. We took great care to select lecturers who teach in a comprehensible way and who are, at the same time, at the research front of their respective field. In numerics we had the privilege of having a lecturer from the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA, Champaign, IL, USA) and some from other leading institutions of the world; visualization was taught by a visualization expert from Boeing; and in com puter algebra we took recourse to practitioners of different computer algebra systems as applied to classical general relativity up to quantum gravity and differential geometry.

Book Wavelets and Their Applications

Download or read book Wavelets and Their Applications written by J.S. Byrnes and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1994-08-31 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is probably true quite generally that in the history of human thinking the most fruitful developments frequently take place at those points where two different lines of thought meet. Hence, if they actually meet, that is, if they are at least so much related to each other that a real interaction can take place, then one may hope that new and interesting developments may follow. Werner Heisenberg This volume contains papers presented at the August 1992 NATO Advanced Study Institute on Wavelets and Their Applications. The conference was held at the beautiful Il Ciocco resort near Lucca, in the glorious Tuscany region of northern Italy. Once again we gathered at this idyllic spot to explore and extend the reciprocity between mathematics and engineering. The dynamic interaction between world-renowned scientists from the usu ally disparate communities of pure mathematicians and applied scientists, which occurred at our 1989 and 1991 ASI's, continued at this meeting. Wavelet theory and technology is in an important growth stage at which theoretical and practical results are being compared with existing methods. There have been spectacular wavelet successes and sobering comparisons with traditional ideas-but still there is a wide expanse of scientific problems to explore. Since these problems lie at the forefront of both pure mathematics and applied science, our NATO ASI was especially pertinent at this time.

Book Programming ALGOL

Download or read book Programming ALGOL written by D. J. Malcolme-Lawes and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-09 with total page 119 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Programming — ALGOL describes the basics of computer programming using Algol. Commands that could be added to Algol and could increase its scope are described, including multiplication and division and the use of brackets. The idea of labeling or naming a command is also explained, along with a command allowing two alternative results. Most of the important features of Algol syntax are discussed, and examples of compound statements (that is, sets of commands enclosed by a begin ... end command) are given. Comprised of 11 chapters, this book begins with an introduction to the digital computer and how it works using a list of instructions known as a program. The "punched-tape" method of feeding information into a computer is described together with the flexowriter. The next chapter provides an overview of Algol by studying a very simple program and comparing it with the same sequence of instructions written in normal English. The third chapter is about building a program, first by increasing the complexity of the actual computation and then economizing on memory stores. Subsequent chapters focus on how computer programs can be built up of simple commands; labeling or naming a command; facilities in the Algol language which allow the addition of a second alternative command to an if ... then statement; and the use of a flow diagram to translate a problem into Algol. The final chapter examines the method of running a program on a computer. This monograph will be of interest to computer programmers.

Book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences

Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade H. Shafer and published by Springer. This book was released on 1976 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and dis· seminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) *at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the ac· tivity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all concerned if the printing and distribution of the volume were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 20 (thesis year 1975) a total of 10,374 theses titles from 28 Canadian and 239 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for theses titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. The organization of Volume 20 is identical to that of past years. It consists of theses titles arranged by discipline and by university within each discipline.

Book Signal Processing for Communications

Download or read book Signal Processing for Communications written by Paolo Prandoni and published by Collection Savoir suisse. This book was released on 2008-06-17 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With a novel, less classical approach to the subject, the authors have written a book with the conviction that signal processing should be taught to be fun. The treatment is therefore less focused on the mathematics and more on the conceptual aspects, the idea being to allow the readers to think about the subject at a higher conceptual level, thus building the foundations for more advanced topics. The book remains an engineering text, with the goal of helping students solve real-world problems. In this vein, the last chapter pulls together the individual topics as discussed throughout the book into an in-depth look at the development of an end-to-end communication system, namely, a modem for communicating digital information over an analog channel.

Download or read book Euler and Modern Science written by N. N. Bogolyubov and published by Mathematical Association of America. This book was released on 2008-02-14 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We speak of the age of Euler. A justification of this term is provided by a list of scientific terms connected with Euler's name and his many contributions to pure mathematics, well-known in the mathematical community and, in part, covered in this volume. What makes this collection remarkable, though, is the extensive treatment of Euler's contributions outside pure mathematics - astronomy, celestial mechanics, ballistics, music and many other areas. In addition to this survey of his contributions to science, we find also rare, detailed accounts of Euler's family life and the careers pursued by his children and grandchildren. Readers otherwise well-informed about Euler and his work will find here much to enhance their appreciation of this extraordinary scientist and human being.

Book Moments in Mathematics

Download or read book Moments in Mathematics written by Henry J. Landau and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1987 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Function theory, spectral decomposition of operators, probability, approximation, electrical and mechanical inverse problems, prediction of stochastic processes, the design of algorithms for signal-processing VLSI chips--these are among a host of important theoretical and applied topics illuminated by the classical moment problem. To survey some of these ramifications and the research which derives from them, the AMS sponsored the Short Course Moments in Mathematics at the Joint Mathematics Meetings, held in San Antonio, Texas, in January 1987. This volume contains the six lectures presented during that course. The papers are likely to find a wide audience, for they are expository, but nevertheless lead the reader to topics of current research. In his paper, Henry J. Landau sketches the main ideas of past work related to the moment problem by such mathematicians as Caratheodory, Herglotz, Schur, Riesz, and Krein and describes the way the moment problem has interconnected so many diverse areas of research. J. H. B. Kemperman examines the moment problem from a geometric viewpoint which involves a certain natural duality method and leads to interesting applications in linear programming, measure theory, and dilations. Donald Sarason first provides a brief review of the theory of unbounded self-adjoint operators then goes on to sketch the operator-theoretic treatment of the Hamburger problem and to discuss Hankel operators, the Adamjan-Arov-Krein approach, and the theory of unitary dilations. Exploring the interplay of trigonometric moment problems and signal processing, Thomas Kailath describes the role of Szego polynomials in linear predictive coding methods, parallel implementation, one-dimensional inverse scattering problems, and the Toeplitz moment matrices. Christian Berg contrasts the multi-dimensional moment problem with the one-dimensional theory and shows how the theory of the moment problem may be viewed as part of harmonic analysis on semigroups. Starting from a historical survey of the use of moments in probability and statistics, Persi Diaconis illustrates the continuing vitality of these methods in a variety of recent novel problems drawn from such areas as Wiener-Ito integrals, random graphs and matrices, Gibbs ensembles, cumulants and self-similar processes, projections of high-dimensional data, and empirical estimation.

Book Regional Environmental Changes in Siberia and Their Global Consequences

Download or read book Regional Environmental Changes in Siberia and Their Global Consequences written by Pavel Ya. Groisman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-08-14 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents a state-of-the-art assessment of the Earth's climate system in Siberia and relationships between climate, ecosystems and people in that region. Changes in climatic variables and land cover in Siberia are among the earliest indicators of the Earth’s response to climate warming. The volume is a compilation of results from studies on climate, land-cover and land-use changes and their interactions with biogeochemical and water cycles, atmospheric aerosol, and human and wildlife populations in Siberia. Regional changes in Siberia are predicted to affect climate and people on a global scale. NASA, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and several European institutions have supported these studies. The primary supporter of the projects that produced the results compiled in this volume is the NASA Land-Cover/Land-Use Change Program, hence most studies use remote sensing in their research. The chapters in this volume were written by an international team of scientists from the USA, Europe and Russia under the auspices of the Northern Eurasia Earth Science Partnership Initiative (NEESPI). This book will be of interest to those involved in studying recent and ongoing changes in Siberia, be they senior scientists, early career scientists or students.
