Book Groundwater Pumping Tests

Download or read book Groundwater Pumping Tests written by William C. Walton and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-11-14 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This practical book 'Groundwarer Pumping Tests', details concepts, techniques, field work, case studies, and microcomputer models-information designed to improve accuracy and reliability. The reader is expected to have a working knowledge of hydrogeology or access to books on groundwater geology and hydrology. Too frequently, groundwater pumping test design and analysis ignore well storage capacity, delayed gravity yield, well partial penetration, and aquitard storativity impacts without proving them negligible. As a result, erroneous conclusions are reached concerning aquifer system hydraulic characteristics, boundaries, and discontinuities. Pumping test data often is filtered arbitrarily without adequate justification in attempts to match inappropriate aquifer models and field conditions. Antecedent water level trends and water level adjustments for changes in barometric pressure and surface water stages frequently are ignored in calculating drawdown and recovery. Finally, manual graphic analysis supplemented with microcomputer programs is, to an excessive extent, being replaced by fully automatic microcomputer analysis without critical examination of interpretative methods in program algorithms and their limitations. This book will focus needed attention on the facets mentioned above.

Book Suggested Operating Procedures for Aquifer Pumping Tests

Download or read book Suggested Operating Procedures for Aquifer Pumping Tests written by Paul S. Osborne and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This document is intended as a primer, describing the process for the design and performance of an “aquifer test” (how to obtain reliable data from a pumping test) to obtain accurate estimates of aquifer parameters. It is intended for use by those professionals involved in characterizing sites which require corrective action as well as those which are proposed for ground water development, agricultural development, industrial development, or disposal activities. The goal of the document is to provide the reader with a complete picture of all of the elements of aquifer (pumping) test design and performance and an understanding of how those elements can affect the quality of the final data.

Book Aquifer Hydraulics

Download or read book Aquifer Hydraulics written by Vedat Batu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1998-02-27 with total page 756 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. (01/98)

Book Groundwater Dynamics in Hard Rock Aquifers

Download or read book Groundwater Dynamics in Hard Rock Aquifers written by Shakeel Ahmed and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-11-18 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the results and findings of the advanced research carried out in a pilot area with a thorough investigation of the structure and functioning of an aquifer in a granitic formation. It characterizes the hard rock aquifer system and examines its properties and behavior as well as systematically details the geophysical, geological and remote sensing applications to conceptualize such an aquifer system.

Book Aquifer Parameter Estimation from Aquifer Tests and Specific caoacity Data in Cedar Valley and the Cedar Pass Area Utah County Utah

Download or read book Aquifer Parameter Estimation from Aquifer Tests and Specific caoacity Data in Cedar Valley and the Cedar Pass Area Utah County Utah written by Juliette Lucy Jordan and published by Utah Geological Survey. This book was released on 2013 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 53-page report details aquifer parameter estimation in and near Cedar Valley, west of Utah Lake and the Lake Mountains, in Utah County, Utah. The UGS conducted five aquifer tests on the two most important aquifers in the study area-the principal basin-fill aquifer and the fractured-bedrock aquifer. The aquifer tests on bedrock wells are of particular interest because of the importance of the bedrock groundwater resource in the Cedar Pass area, where surface water and groundwater are scarce. The tests reveal valuable information about the interface between the basin-fill and bedrock aquifers, a key path for groundwater discharge from the Cedar Valley groundwater basin. Aquifer test analysis was combined with re-analysis of existing aquifer-test data and specific-capacity data from well logs to determine a range of hydraulic conductivity, transmissivity, and storativity for the aquifers. Anisotropy was identified in both the basin-fill and bedrock aquifers, and the bedrock aquifer was found to be bounded by semi-permeable aquifer boundaries; a wedge of Tertiary volcanic rock and buried faults are the likely barriers to groundwater flow near Cedar Pass.
