Book El Placer de Tan Malos Tiempos

Download or read book El Placer de Tan Malos Tiempos written by Andrés Rodriguez Robles and published by Palibrio. This book was released on 2012-10 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Economic and Social Rights after the Global Financial Crisis

Download or read book Economic and Social Rights after the Global Financial Crisis written by Aoife Nolan and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2014-10-09 with total page 413 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The global financial and economic crises have had a devastating impact on economic and social rights. These rights were ignored by economic policy makers prior to the crises and continue to be disregarded in the current 'age of austerity'. This is the first book to focus squarely on the interrelationship between contemporary and historic economic and financial crises, the responses thereto, and the resulting impact upon economic and social rights. Chapters examine the obligations imposed by such rights in terms of domestic and supranational crisis-related policy and law, and argue for a response to the crises that integrates these human rights considerations. The expert international contributors, both academics and practitioners, are drawn from a range of disciplines including law, economics, development and political science. The collection is thus uniquely placed to address debates and developments from a range of disciplinary, geographical and professional perspectives.

Book Drugs Thugs and Diplomats

Download or read book Drugs Thugs and Diplomats written by Winifred Tate and published by Stanford University Press. This book was released on 2015-06-10 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2000, the U.S. passed a major aid package that was going to help Colombia do it all: cut drug trafficking, defeat leftist guerrillas, support peace, and build democracy. More than 80% of the assistance, however, was military aid, at a time when the Colombian security forces were linked to abusive, drug-trafficking paramilitary forces. Drugs, Thugs, and Diplomats examines the U.S. policymaking process in the design, implementation, and consequences of Plan Colombia, as the aid package came to be known. Winifred Tate explores the rhetoric and practice of foreign policy by the U.S. State Department, the Pentagon, Congress, and the U.S. military Southern Command. Tate's ethnography uncovers how policymakers' utopian visions and emotional entanglements play a profound role in their efforts to orchestrate and impose social transformation abroad. She argues that U.S. officials' zero tolerance for illegal drugs provided the ideological architecture for the subsequent militarization of domestic drug policy abroad. The U.S. also ignored Colombian state complicity with paramilitary brutality, presenting them as evidence of an absent state and the authentic expression of a frustrated middle class. For rural residents of Colombia living under paramilitary dominion, these denials circulated as a form of state terror. Tate's analysis examines how oppositional activists and the policy's targets—civilians and local state officials in southern Colombia—attempted to shape aid design and delivery, revealing the process and effects of human rights policymaking.

Book Cuando los que escuchan hablan

Download or read book Cuando los que escuchan hablan written by María Esther Gilio and published by Libros del Zorzal. This book was released on 2020-09-25 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Corporate reputation

Download or read book Corporate reputation written by Ángel Alloza and published by Editorial Almuzara. This book was released on 2013-06 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reputation has become an essential strategic asset for companies. Those businesses that enjoy a good reputation are able to differentiate themselves, thus attracting investments and retaining customers and employees, while at the same time, stakeholders of such companies demonstrate higher levels of satisfaction and loyalty towards the companies’ products and brands. Currently, corporate reputation is one of the most popular non-financial indicators used by organizations, both in the public and private sectors. This book is an in-depth investigation of the psychosocial nature of corporate reputation, and we invite the reader to join us on a journey of discovery. When reputation first appeared as a concept, it brought about promises and hopes. It was viewed as a solution capable of reconciling the interests of different stakeholders and making the whole organization stronger. However, this giant soon turned out to have feet of clay, as it was lacking in sufficient theoretical and methodological foundation. Nonetheless, when we step into the terra incognita of corporate intangible assets, we will understand that the vague idea of reputation is gradually acquiring a scientific form thanks to the development of measurement tools and models that lay a foundation for the long sought-after means of managing reputation.
