Book Approaching Multivariate Analysis 2nd Edition

Download or read book Approaching Multivariate Analysis 2nd Edition written by Pat Dugard and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-06-30 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This fully updated new edition not only provides an introduction to a range of advanced statistical techniques that are used in psychology, but has been expanded to include new chapters describing methods and examples of particular interest to medical researchers. It takes a very practical approach, aimed at enabling readers to begin using the methods to tackle their own problems. This book provides a non-mathematical introduction to multivariate methods, with an emphasis on helping the reader gain an intuitive understanding of what each method is for, what it does and how it does it. The first chapter briefly reviews the main concepts of univariate and bivariate methods and provides an overview of the multivariate methods that will be discussed, bringing out the relationships among them, and summarising how to recognise what types of problem each of them may be appropriate for tackling. In the remaining chapters, introductions to the methods and important conceptual points are followed by the presentation of typical applications from psychology and medicine, using examples with fabricated data. Instructions on how to do the analyses and how to make sense of the results are fully illustrated with dialogue boxes and output tables from SPSS, as well as details of how to interpret and report the output, and extracts of SPSS syntax and code from relevant SAS procedures. This book gets students started, and prepares them to approach more comprehensive treatments with confidence. This makes it an ideal text for psychology students, medical students and students or academics in any discipline that uses multivariate methods.

Book Purine and Pyrimidine Metabolism in Man IX

Download or read book Purine and Pyrimidine Metabolism in Man IX written by Andrea Griesmacher and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 816 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: th th This volume comprizes articles presented at the joint IX International and 6 Euro pean Symposium on Purine and Pyrimidine Metabolism in Man held in Gmunden, Austria, June 1 through 7, 1997. Since the first of this series of meetings was held in Israel in 1973, conventions were organized every three years in different parts of the world including the USA, Japan, and Europe. The different aspects of purine and pyrimidine metabolism bring together re searchers working in molecular genetics, biochemical pharmacology, biochemistry, devel opmental biology, immunology, epidemiology and the clinics. Oriented research in the field has been seminal for the development of potent anticancer and antiviral drugs. As the number of genes which are cloned, grows, the understanding of metabolism is increas ingly enlarged and might provide leads to further improve therapeutic concepts and to bet ter understand mechanisms responsible for the development of resistance against these drugs. In certain diseases purine and pyrimidine analogs represent not only the drugs of choice but in fact are the sole therapeutic alternative at present. The field has also taken an early lead in attempting to correct inborn errors of purine and pyrimidine metabolism by gene therapy. The organization of this meeting involved a large number of people who dedicated their time in an effort to make this symposium a success. We thank the Abstract Review Committee, the International Advisory Board and in particular the Symposium Secretariat for doing a wonderful job.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 1990s and 2000s, contemporary art in India changed radically in form, as an art world once dominated by painting began to support installation, new media, and performance. In response to the liberalization of India’s economy, art was cultivated by a booming market as well as by new nonprofit institutions that combined strong local roots and transnational connections. The result was an unprecedented efflorescence of contemporary art and growth of a network of institutions radiating out from India. Among the first studies of contemporary South Asian art, Infrastructure and Form engages with sixteen of India’s leading contemporary artists and art collectives to examine what made this development possible. Karin Zitzewitz articulates the connections among formal trajectories of medium and material, curatorial frames and networks of circulation, and the changing conditions of everyday life after economic liberalization. By untangling the complex interactions of infrastructure and form, the book offers a discussion of the barriers and conduits that continue to shape global contemporary art and its relationship to capital more broadly.

Book Modern Coding Theory

Download or read book Modern Coding Theory written by Tom Richardson and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2008-03-17 with total page 589 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Having trouble deciding which coding scheme to employ, how to design a new scheme, or how to improve an existing system? This summary of the state-of-the-art in iterative coding makes this decision more straightforward. With emphasis on the underlying theory, techniques to analyse and design practical iterative coding systems are presented. Using Gallager's original ensemble of LDPC codes, the basic concepts are extended for several general codes, including the practically important class of turbo codes. The simplicity of the binary erasure channel is exploited to develop analytical techniques and intuition, which are then applied to general channel models. A chapter on factor graphs helps to unify the important topics of information theory, coding and communication theory. Covering the most recent advances, this text is ideal for graduate students in electrical engineering and computer science, and practitioners.
