Download or read book Performance of Information and Communication Systems written by Ulf Körner and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-11-27 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last two decades we have seen a tremendous development within the computer and communication industry. The ever increasing density on silicon, the increasing transmission speeds on fiber based systems as well as twisted pairs, the revolutionary development in the wireless area and of course the Internet have all led to many opportunities for new service developments. It is interesting to note that the last time this conference was held three years ago, the Web really did not fully exist. We are now ready to face new interesting challenges. It is an utmost importance for the performance community to focus on the modeling and analysis of the Internet, the multimedia applications and the untethered applications that are coming to the forefront. There will be a need for new and better simulation methods, new analytical tools and a much better understanding of measurement techniques. "Performance of Information and Communication Systems", PICS'98, which takes place in Lund, Sweden, May 25-28, 1998, is the seventh conference in a series on performance of communication systems organized by IFIP TC 6, WG 6.3. In response to our call for papers, we have received nearly fifty submissions.

Download or read book Principles of Secure Network Systems Design written by Sumit Ghosh and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A fundamental and comprehensive framework for network security designed for military, government, industry, and academic network personnel. Scientific validation of "security on demand" through computer modeling and simulation methods. The book presents an example wherein the framework is utilized to integrate security into the operation of a network. As a result of the integration, the inherent attributes of the network may be exploited to reduce the impact of security on network performance and the security availability may be increased down to the user level. The example selected is the ATM network which is gaining widespread acceptance and use.
Download or read book Broadband Access Networks written by Abdallah Shami and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-01-23 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Considering the key evolutions within the access network technologies as well as the unprecedented levels of bandwidth demands by end users, this book condenses the relentless research, design, and deployment experience of state-of-the-art access networks. Furthermore, it shares the critical steps and details of the developments and deployment of these emergent technologies; which is very crucial particularly as telecommunications vendors and carriers are looking for cost-effective ultra-broadband “last-mile” access solutions to stay competitive in the “post bubble” era. The book is written to provide a comprehensive overview of the major broadband access technologies and deployments involving internationally recognized authors and key players. Due to its scope and depth, the proposed book is able to fill an important gap of today’s available literature.
