Book Turbulent Boundary layer Temperature Recovery Factors in Two dimensional Supersonic Flow

Download or read book Turbulent Boundary layer Temperature Recovery Factors in Two dimensional Supersonic Flow written by Maurice Tucker and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analytical method is presented for obtaining turbulent temperature recovery factors for a thermally insulated surface in supersonic flow. The method is an extension of Squire's analysis for incompressible flow. The boundary layer velocity profile is represented by a power law and a similarity is postulated for squared-velocity the static-temperature-difference profiles.

Book A Method for Measuring the Product of Inertia and the Inclination of the Principal Longitudinal Axis of Inertia of an Airplane

Download or read book A Method for Measuring the Product of Inertia and the Inclination of the Principal Longitudinal Axis of Inertia of an Airplane written by Robert W. Boucher and published by . This book was released on 1954 with total page 718 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The angle of inclination of the principal axis was found to have probable error of plus or minus 0.17 degrees both from analysis of the error of inertia measurement of the full-scale airplane and from tests with a model having a simple configuration. Analysis showed the probable error of the inertia measurements for the test airplane to be plus or minus1.00, plus or minus 0.49, and plus or minus 0.35 percent of the true moment of inertia about the X, Y, and Z body reference axes, respectively.

Book Qualitative Simulator Study of Longitudinal Stick Forces and Displacements Desirable During Tracking

Download or read book Qualitative Simulator Study of Longitudinal Stick Forces and Displacements Desirable During Tracking written by Stanley Faber and published by . This book was released on 1958 with total page 680 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this study in which an airplane simulator with one degree of freedom (pitch) was used, results were determined for three conditions of airplane dynamics. For an undamped natural frequency of 1/2 cps with a damping ratio of 0.18 and for an undamped natural frequency of 1 cps with a damping ratio of 0.11, moderate longitudinal stick forces and displacements were desired.

Book Statistical Study of Transition point Fluctuations in Supersonic Flow

Download or read book Statistical Study of Transition point Fluctuations in Supersonic Flow written by J. C. Evvard and published by . This book was released on 1954 with total page 692 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The random movement of the transition point on a 10 degree cone at a free-stream Mach number of 3.12 was investigated by means of a large number high-speed schlieren photographs. The distribution functions which statistically define the transition-point location were determined for a range of test-section Reynolds number and two levels of free-stream turbulence intensity. The intensity was varied by changing tunnel settling-chamber configurations. Temperature-recovery-factor distributions were also obtained.

Book Effect of Overheating on Creep rupture Properties of HS 31 Alloy at 1 500 Degrees F

Download or read book Effect of Overheating on Creep rupture Properties of HS 31 Alloy at 1 500 Degrees F written by John Paul Rowe and published by . This book was released on 1957 with total page 702 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation of overheating HS-31 alloy to temperatures of 1,650 degrees, 1,800 degrees, 1,900 degrees, and 2,000 degrees F during the course of rupture tests 1,500 degrees F was carried out. The overheating was applied periodically for 2 minutes in most of the tests. The intent was to develop basic information on the effect of overheats on creep- rapture properties in order to assist in the evaluation of damage from overheats during gas- turbine operation.
