Book excerpt: Lors de son entrée à l’école primaire, l’enfant est à un âge charnière de ses apprentissages et du développement de sa pensée. L’apprentissage de la lecture est au cœur des préoccupations. Il va devoir apprendre à reconnaître, convertir et manipuler les lettres en sons afin de déchiffrer et comprendre le langage écrit. Nous nous sommes donc interrogés sur le lien qui pouvait exister entre le niveau de logique des enfants et leur habileté à entrer dans la lecture. Un bon niveau de déchiffrage et de compréhension du langage écrit est-il lié à un bon niveau de conservation, de sériation et de classification ? Nous avons voulu vérifier l’existence de ce lien et dégager des profils de fonctionnement de pensée afin d’essayer de mieux comprendre les relations entre ces aptitudes. Ainsi un protocole a été proposé à 31 enfants de CP de 2 établissements scolaires. Il est composé d’épreuves validées (certaines étalonnées) et d’épreuves conçues par nos soins pour être adaptées à leur progression scolaire. Les résultats obtenus nos permettent de conclure qu’il existe un lien entre le niveau de logique et celui du langage écrit en début de CP. Cependant, au fil de notre recherche et dès les premiers résultats nous nous sommes aperçus que ce lien était plus fort dans un échantillon que dans l’autre. Cette étude contribue à mettre en évidence la nécessité de prendre en considération le niveau de raisonnement des enfants pour comprendre et travailler leurs difficultés de langage écrit.
