This book was released on 2021-01-26 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to handle different application problems of science and engineering using expert Artificial Neural Network (ANN). As such, the book starts with basics of ANN along with different mathematical preliminaries with respect to algebraic equations. Then it addresses ANN based methods for solving different algebraic equations viz. polynomial equations, diophantine equations, transcendental equations, system of linear and nonlinear equations, eigenvalue problems etc. which are the basic equations to handle the application problems mentioned in the content of the book. Although there exist various methods to handle these problems, but sometimes those may be problem dependent and may fail to give a converge solution with particular discretization. Accordingly, ANN based methods have been addressed here to solve these problems. Detail ANN architecture with step by step procedure and algorithm have been included. Different example problems are solved with respect to various application and mathematical problems. Convergence plots and/or convergence tables of the solutions are depicted to show the efficacy of these methods. It is worth mentioning that various application problems viz. Bakery problem, Power electronics applications, Pole placement, Electrical Network Analysis, Structural engineering problem etc. have been solved using the ANN based methods.

Book Elements of Artificial Neural Networks

Download or read book Elements of Artificial Neural Networks written by Kishan Mehrotra and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 1997 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Elements of Artificial Neural Networks provides a clearly organized general introduction, focusing on a broad range of algorithms, for students and others who want to use neural networks rather than simply study them. The authors, who have been developing and team teaching the material in a one-semester course over the past six years, describe most of the basic neural network models (with several detailed solved examples) and discuss the rationale and advantages of the models, as well as their limitations. The approach is practical and open-minded and requires very little mathematical or technical background. Written from a computer science and statistics point of view, the text stresses links to contiguous fields and can easily serve as a first course for students in economics and management. The opening chapter sets the stage, presenting the basic concepts in a clear and objective way and tackling important -- yet rarely addressed -- questions related to the use of neural networks in practical situations. Subsequent chapters on supervised learning (single layer and multilayer networks), unsupervised learning, and associative models are structured around classes of problems to which networks can be applied. Applications are discussed along with the algorithms. A separate chapter takes up optimization methods. The most frequently used algorithms, such as backpropagation, are introduced early on, right after perceptrons, so that these can form the basis for initiating course projects. Algorithms published as late as 1995 are also included. All of the algorithms are presented using block-structured pseudo-code, and exercises are provided throughout. Software implementing many commonly used neural network algorithms is available at the book's website. Transparency masters, including abbreviated text and figures for the entire book, are available for instructors using the text.

Book excerpt: Work with advanced topics in deep learning, such as optimization algorithms, hyper-parameter tuning, dropout, and error analysis as well as strategies to address typical problems encountered when training deep neural networks. You’ll begin by studying the activation functions mostly with a single neuron (ReLu, sigmoid, and Swish), seeing how to perform linear and logistic regression using TensorFlow, and choosing the right cost function. The next section talks about more complicated neural network architectures with several layers and neurons and explores the problem of random initialization of weights. An entire chapter is dedicated to a complete overview of neural network error analysis, giving examples of solving problems originating from variance, bias, overfitting, and datasets coming from different distributions. Applied Deep Learning also discusses how to implement logistic regression completely from scratch without using any Python library except NumPy, to let you appreciate how libraries such as TensorFlow allow quick and efficient experiments. Case studies for each method are included to put into practice all theoretical information. You’ll discover tips and tricks for writing optimized Python code (for example vectorizing loops with NumPy). What You Will Learn Implement advanced techniques in the right way in Python and TensorFlow Debug and optimize advanced methods (such as dropout and regularization) Carry out error analysis (to realize if one has a bias problem, a variance problem, a data offset problem, and so on) Set up a machine learning project focused on deep learning on a complex dataset Who This Book Is For Readers with a medium understanding of machine learning, linear algebra, calculus, and basic Python programming.
