Book Molecular Imaging Computer Reconstruction and Practice

Download or read book Molecular Imaging Computer Reconstruction and Practice written by Yves Lemoigne and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-09-02 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reports the majority of lectures given during the NATO Advanced Study Institute ASI-982440, which was held at the European Scienti?c Institute of Archamps (ESI, Archamps – France) from November 9 to November 21, 2006. The ASI course was structured in two parts, the ?rst was dedicated to individual imaging techniques while the second is the object of this volume and focused on data modelling and processing and on image archiving and distribution. Courses devoted to nuclear medicine and digital imaging techniques are collected in a c- plementary volume of NATO Science Series entitled “Physics for Medical Imaging Applications” (ISBN 978-1-4020-5650-5). Every year in autumn ESI organises the European School of Medical Physics, which covers a large spectrum of topics ranging from Medical Imaging to Rad- therapy, over a period of ?ve weeks. Thanks to the Cooperative Science and Te- nology sub-programme of the NATO Science Division, weeks two and three were replaced this year by the ASI course dedicated to “Molecular Imaging from Physical Principles to Computer Reconstruction and Practice”. This allowed the participation ofexpertsandstudentsfrom20differentcountries,withdiverseculturalbackground and professional experience (Africa, America, Asia, and Europe). A further positive outcome of NATO ASI participation is the publication of this book, which contains the lectures series contributed by speakers during the second week of the ASI.

Book Computer Assisted Radiology Computergest tzte Radiologie

Download or read book Computer Assisted Radiology Computergest tzte Radiologie written by AMK Berlin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 721 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New imaging technology and more sophisticated image processing systems will have a profound effect on those areas of medicine which are concerned with imaging for diagnosis and therapy planning. Digitally formated data will form the basis of an increasing number of medical imaging modalities. Before the diagnostic imaging department of the future will largely be digital, many problems have still to be solved as regards image quality, costs, and ease of use. The computer and other information science derived methods will contribute towards solving many of the problems in these areas. It is widely expected that there will be an information science derived evolution in imaging for radiology and related departments. Computer assistance may be applied to image generation, e.g. CT, MRI, DR and DSR, storing and transferring of images, and viewing, analysing and interpreting of images. The application of computers to these activities (which characterise radiological departments), may be defined as Computer Assisted Radiology (CAR) . In the main, CAR will promote the transition from analog imaging systems to digital systems, integration of digital imaging modalities through Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS') and the graduated employment of Medica~ Work Stations (MWS) for diagnosis and therapy planning. It will transfer geographically, organisationally and/or mentally isolate imaging activities towards fully integrated multi-imaging modality diagnostic departments. This development will have a considerable impact on patient management, on the medical profession and on the health care system.

Book A History of Radionuclide Studies in the UK

Download or read book A History of Radionuclide Studies in the UK written by Ralph McCready and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-04-25 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The British Nuclear Medicine Society celebrates its 50th Anniversary with this booklet, which reflects the research of many of the pioneers in the use of radionuclides for the diagnosis and therapy of human disease. Since 1949 there have been remarkable advances in radionuclide techniques and imaging equipment: from the first devices “home-made” in the many physics departments throughout the UK, to the sophisticated multimodality imagers now in everyday use in Nuclear Medicine. The BNMS has been instrumental in promoting the use of radionuclide techniques in the investigation of pathology by supporting and providing education, research and guidelines on the optimum use of radiation to help patients. The future of Nuclear Medicine is bright, thanks to improved imaging resolution, new radiopharmaceuticals, and new diagnostic and therapeutic techniques and procedures.

Book Nuclear Medicine Textbook

Download or read book Nuclear Medicine Textbook written by Duccio Volterrani and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-08-10 with total page 1331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Building on the traditional concept of nuclear medicine, this textbook presents cutting-edge concepts of hybrid imaging and discusses the close interactions between nuclear medicine and other clinical specialties, in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients. Today the diagnostic applications of nuclear medicine are no longer stand-alone procedures, separate from other diagnostic imaging modalities. This is especially true for hybrid imaging guided interventional radiology or surgical procedures. Accordingly, today’s nuclear medicine specialists are actually specialists in multimodality imaging (in addition to their expertise in the diagnostic and therapeutic uses of radionuclides). This new role requires a new core curriculum for training nuclear medicine specialists. This textbook is designed to meet these new educational needs, and to prepare nuclear physicians and technologists for careers in this exciting specialty.

Book Quantitative Analysis in Nuclear Medicine Imaging

Download or read book Quantitative Analysis in Nuclear Medicine Imaging written by Habib Zaidi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-07-11 with total page 593 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a review of image analysis techniques as they are applied in the field of diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine. Driven in part by the remarkable sophistication of nuclear medicine instrumentation and - crease in computing power and its ready and inexpensive availability, this is a relatively new yet rapidly expanding field. Likewise, although the use of nuclear imaging for diagnosis and therapy has origins dating back almost to the pioneering work of Dr G. de Hevesy, quantitative imaging has only recently emerged as a promising approach for diagnosis and therapy of many diseases. An effort has, therefore, been made to place the reviews provided in this book in a broader context. The effort to do this is reflected by the inclusion of introductory chapters that address basic principles of nuclear medicine instrumentation and dual-modality imaging, followed by overview of issues that are closely related to quantitative nuclear imaging and its potential role in diagnostic and therapeutic applications. A brief overview of each chapter is provided below. Chapter 1 presents a general overview of nuclear medicine imaging physics and instrumentation including planar scintigraphy, single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and positron emission tomography (PET). Nowadays, patients’ diagnosis and therapy is rarely done without the use of imaging technology. As such, imaging considerations are incorporated in almost every chapter of the book. The development of dual-modality - aging systems is an emerging research field, which is addressed in chapter 2.
