Book Apologetics Or a System of Christian Evidence Classic Reprint

Download or read book Apologetics Or a System of Christian Evidence Classic Reprint written by Conrad Emil Lindberg and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-05-17 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Apologetics, or a System of Christian Evidence Christ Jesus. Except He had come from the world beyond and told us things which otherwsie would have been un known, our knowledge had become limited and our salvation impossible. If we only knew and were sure in regard to these things, some answer; but one thing is certain, that if the Bible does not make us certain, no other book will, and the reading of the words of Jesus is overpowering. When we study comparatively the ethnic religions and the sayings of their best men, we feel that Christianity is the climax in religion and Christ is the only Master. The best apology of the Bible is the Bible, and the best apologist of Christ is He Himself. If the New Testament would be constantly and prayerfully read by inquirers, there would be no need of Christian apologies, but as things are, both Christian evi dence and Apologetics are necessary and useful. Even if we must regret the paucity of thorough-paced Bible students and good readers of the Scriptures, we re j oice in the fact that there is no book within the bounds of Christianity as much read as the Bible and especially the New Testament. When the number of readers of books like Paine's The Age of Reason grow less and less, the Bible gains a more and more extended circle of devoted friends. The modern attacks on the Bible have proved what a strong fortress the Bible is. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A System of Christian Evidence The original work, which formed the basis of this handbook, was only a compend. The first edition, though quite large, was speedily exhausted. Since it has been out of print, there have been so many calls for it, sometimes in large quantities, that both the publisher and the author feel justified in issuing the present edition. It is cause for hopefulness and for gratitude to God that, even in these days of many departures from the faith, books of an evangelical order are in demand. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: People are hungry for hope. They want to understand our human condition—its origin, nature, purpose, and destiny. The Christian faith offers hope for individuals and the entire universe, grounded in absolute truth. But how can we know that Christianity is true? And how can Christians confidently present their beliefs in the face of doubts and competing views? In this comprehensive text, Douglas Groothuis makes a clear and rigorous case for Christian theism. Demonstrating how apologetics must be both rational and winsome, he addresses the most common questions and objections people raise regarding Christianity. After laying a foundation with the biblical basis for apologetics, apologetic method, and a defense of objective truth, he presents key arguments for the reality of God, a case for the credibility of Jesus, and evidence for the resurrection. Groothuis also evaluates alternative views and responds to challenges such as religious pluralism and the problem of evil. The second edition of this landmark work has been updated throughout to address current issues and sources. It includes new chapters on topics such as doubt and the hiddenness of God, the atonement, the church, and lament as a Christian apologetic. To know God in Christ, Groothuis argues, means that we desire to make Christian truth available to others in the most compelling form possible. Students, ordinary Christians, and seasoned philosophers will all find a wise guide for this endeavor in Christian Apologetics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Faith and Free Thought: A Second Course of Lectures Delivered at the Request of the Christian Evidence Society All this system of doubt has, too, a character specifically its own. The present assault upon Christianity is altogether different from that of the Deists of the last century, or of the Atheists of the revolutionary aera. There is very little open assault upon the first principles of Theism. The attack is all the more dangerous because its real purpose is so far concealed, because it proceeds by sap and mine, rather than by open assault. For many a soul which would be on its guard if called upon at once to surrender its faith in a God, is led unsuspiciously 'to parley with the enemy when with fair speeches and professions of respect for that which is most, highly prized he proposes only to examine some untenable propositions which have been too long admitted without question, and to clear Faith, not to impair it, by bringing Reason to its aid. Book Apologetics Or Christianity Defensively Stated Classic Reprint

Download or read book Apologetics Or Christianity Defensively Stated Classic Reprint written by Alexander Balmain Bruce and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-06 with total page 566 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Apologetics or Christianity Defensively Stated The conception of the nature and function of Apologetics which dominates this work is fully explained in the second chapter of the Introduction, It will suffice here to say that what is now offered to the public is not an abstract treatise on Apologetics in which all the traditional commonplaces of the subject - The Theistic Argument, Revelation, Inspiration, Miracles, Prophecy, The Canon, etc. - are discussed, without reference to present needs and trials of faith. It is an apologetic presentation of the Christian faith with reference to whatever in our intellectual environment makes faith difficult at the present time. The constituency to which it addresses itself consists neither of dogmatic believers for whose satisfaction it seeks to show how triumphantly their faith can at all possible points of assault be defended, nor of dogmatic unbelievers whom it strives to convince or confound, but of men whose sympathies are with Christianity, but whose faith is "stifled or weakened by anti-Christian prejudices of varied nature and origin." The aim dictates the method. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book The Historical Development of Legal Apologetics

Download or read book The Historical Development of Legal Apologetics written by William P. Broughton and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2009 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Historical Development of Legal Apologetics This book will indicate that legal apologetics has a history that is co-extensive with Christianity itself. It is unified by faith and reason and requires a fact-based defense that seeks probable judgment rather than absolute certainty but nevertheless would be conclusive in a court of law. It will provide a comparative examination of the legal model as a form of evidentialism and alternative models or "schools". There are many clear contrasts among apologetic approaches, for example evidentialism is definitely J.W.Montgomery's approach and presuppositionalism is definitely the approach of Cornelius Van Til. However this book is not only about the differences between evidentialism and presuppositionalism since there are other models to consider, each of which adopts a model different from both the evidentialist approach and the presuppositional approach. This work concludes with an assessment of how closely a Montgomery-type legal apologetic accords with the specific needs of the historical era in which it has emerged and ascended from the 1960's to the present. Apologetics is the response to the central claims that the faith faces from inside and outside the Christian religion. The resurrection of Jesus' is assaulted from many quarters. Furthermore large scale secularism and pluralism has resulted with the development of large scale multi-culturism in our society. Legal apologetics focuses squarely on proving the factual reality of Jesus resurrection and is an apologetic which is particularly well suited to our times with its emphasis on factual evidence.
