Book Apocalyptic Visions and The Great Day of The Lord

Download or read book Apocalyptic Visions and The Great Day of The Lord written by Dr. K. M. Ware and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-06-23 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible book of Revelation is a prophetic warning of God's judgment upon mankind. It was presented in visions to Apostle John, who transmitted it to the early congregations at the beginning of the Christian era. An accurate understanding of the Word of God in general and Revelation more specifically can mean the difference between life or death, the difference between an eternal life of bliss in the kingdom of God or eternal death in the lake of fire. Apocalyptic Visions endeavors to provide such an understanding. Revelation reveals the culmination of a spiritual battle between God and Satan. It is a struggle for the very souls of mankind. Satan has made a challenge to the sovereignty of God and the motivations of man. The continued existence of man is at stake. The first prophecy of Genesis sets the stage for the whole theme of the Word of God, and Revelation brings it to a close. There are four distinct principles in Revelation, and a clear understanding of these elements and their interaction brings God's plan for mankind into focus. The serpent and his seed are at war with a woman and her seed. It is important that those who wish to please God be well informed with his will and commands. Those who live in accordance with the will of God receive part in the blessings of the kingdom of God.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Apocalypse: The Great Day of the Lord for the Righteous is a positive look at the positive events of the Apocalypse. Just saying the word brings to mind the idea of mass destruction. Many think of a fiery end to life on earth or of zombies shuffling ominously through the streets. Focusing on the negative makes it an unpleasant subject. Contrary to these ideas, this book on the Apocalypse focuses on the great blessings that the righteous will receive when the Lord comes—a great and glorious day with no fear of the destruction that will simultaneously come down upon the heads of the wicked. For the wicked, it will indeed be a dreadful day, and they will call upon the mountains and rocks to hide them when the full fury of the Lord's anger is poured out upon them (see Revelation 6:16). For the righteous, it will be a day of unimaginable joy—a day of resurrection, of peace, of safety, and of living under the rule of our Eternal King, the Lord Jesus Christ. If we remember this, we can more fully appreciate the "great day" aspect of the Second Coming of Christ, as opposed to a fearful approach. That is the purpose of this book, so that we, along with the Apostle John on the Isle of Patmos, will feel to say, "Even so, come, Lord Jesus[!]" (Revelation 22:20). The cover features a stunning image of the Lord descending through the clouds of glory, as painted by Del Parson.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Day of the Lord, Second Edition once again investigates the Bibles apocalyptic texts and reveals flaws in current interpretations, helping readers to clarify the ties between the Bibles prophecies of the end of days and events unfolding in contemporary culture. Author Louis Diedricks harvests the fruits of years of biblical study and of his reflections on current events in explaining the day of the Lord. After providing a forewarning of intense imagery and descriptions in the Bibles apocalyptic texts, The Day of the Lord devotes most of its chapters to intensively examining the Bibles Revelation. Several chapters also focus on end-time portions of the Old Testaments Daniel. In the end, The Day of the Lord affords readers with the insights needed to make choices about whether they wish to believe in Gods Word and live a prudent and just life, or whether they wish to not believe in Gods word, so that they may live for their flesh, resulting in immoral and unjust works. If you have harbored curiosityand perhaps even fearabout what the Bible really says about the end of days, or if you have wondered about the meaning of the events unfolding in the world today, then The Day of the Lord can guide you to making sense of the present day in light of the Scriptures witness to Gods plans.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the Preface: There are indeed few books in the Bible where the modern student does not need deft guidance if reading is to prove profitable. In the case of the Book of Revelation that need becomes absolutely essential. When the average student takes up this book, almost without exception the going is tough, the language baffling, the sense of profit minimal. This situation represents a curious reversal, for in earlier centuries no other part of Scripture so greatly intrigued the imagination of Christendom or so greatly fascinated its painters and musicians .... The book at hand is designed to restore the Apocalypse to its rightful place in Christian thinking. The title asserts a continuing conviction: John as a prophet actually saw a new earth. The ordinary ways of perceiving reality had been radically altered by his faith in Christ.... Even moderns., in their traffic with Òthe earth,Ó have accessible a greater diversity of visions than they suppose. The ancient prophet may still have power to enable us to see a new earth. Such at least is the premise that prompted the publication of this book.

Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Apocalypse Interpreted, Vol. 1: In the Light of "the Day of the Lord" Having accomplished, so far, his undertaking of an Interpretation of the Apocalypse in the light of "The Day Of The Lord" - the period to which, he believes, the prophecies of this book relate, the Author feels he has much reason, notwithstanding the inadequacy of his poor labours - of which he is conscious, "to thank God, and to take courage." Many refreshing tokens of prayerful hearts being interested in the prosecution of his work, have reached him from time to time. He only laments, in answer to the impulses they would give him towards an accelerated progress of publication, that, with the pressure upon him of other occupations, he cannot yield to them as he would wish. Book The Apocalypse of Jesus Christ

Download or read book The Apocalypse of Jesus Christ written by David Atkinson and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2020-04-02 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The strange Book of Revelation, written in about 95 AD, opens up a world in which Christian people were under threat from the Roman Empire; some were suffering for their faith. Was it easier to fall in with the ways of the empire in all its wealth and prosperity, as well as cruelty, than to hold fast in their faith? The prophet John records a vision of the risen Jesus which opens up for him God’s perspective on the Christian assemblies and on the empire. Written in the sort of poetic literature sometimes called “apocalyptic,” John conveys his message encouraging the Christians to stay strong in their witness, while at the same time opening up the demonic realities behind the workings of totalitarian empire and looking towards God’s ultimate victory over all that is evil, in the establishment of God’s kingdom. Today we are subject to the allurements of many different sorts of godless “empires,” tempting us to put other gods in the place of Jesus Christ. Can Revelation encourage us in our struggles and our witness in our very different world?

Book excerpt: Teachings about the end times can clarify your beliefs and energize your own spiritual journey. Christian concepts of the end times involve complex beliefs that have developed over the centuries. They range from popular ideas about the rapture when believers will be swept up to meet Christ in the air, to suspicions about the Antichrist who will deceive and enslave the world, to teachings about the millennium when Christ himself will return victoriously to earth to reign in peace for a thousand years. And Christians have disagreed, sometimes violently, on exactly how and when these events will occur—or whether they will occur at all. With insightful and broad knowledge of the historical, religious and contemporary contexts of these writings, distinguished scholar Robert G. Clouse guides you through the fascinating and intricate world of apocalyptic literature. He examines key verses from Christian and Hebrew scriptures; visionary writings from Augustine and other Church Fathers; accounts of radical millennial movements of the 1600s; bold sermons from preachers such as Jonathan Edwards and Dwight L. Moody; and popular books circulating in our own day, including 1970s prophecy sensation The Late Great Planet Earth and the mega-bestselling Left Behind novels. Accessible facing-page commentary explains the apocalyptic writings for you even if you have no previous knowledge of Christian teachings on the end times. Will Christ come on the clouds in power and in judgment? Or is it up to us to usher in the golden age of the millennium? Or is the millennium spiritual, made real only within believers’ hearts? This book will help you understand the complex Christian visions of the end of the world.

Book Apocalyptic Terror and Millennial Glory

Download or read book Apocalyptic Terror and Millennial Glory written by Ross McCallum Jones and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2020-02-26 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Apocalyptic Terror and Millennial Glory is a commentary on the book of Revelation; a book written to prepare Christians for Jesus’ coming and the Great Tribulation that precedes it. The series of visions is complex, but when complemented by prophetic material from the Old Testament, Jesus’ prophecies, and other Scriptures, a clear chronology is discerned. The text is divided into 80 passages which are presented in two-page studies, with Scripture on the left and commentary on the right. The text is explained clearly and naturally, emphasizing the fact that John’s series of visions is really a picture book, or a series of video clips, with much symbolism and metaphor that needs to be interpreted imaginatively, rather than literally. The Messianic reign on earth following Jesus’ return is regarded as the clear climax; glory for Jesus and glory for the saints. Evidence of a pre-tribulation rapture is scarce; rather, Revelation encourages the saints to faithfully endure persecution, even martyrdom, knowing that they have a glorious future here on earth and on into eternity. The time is drawing near. The nation of Israel is regathered in their land and recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. Globalization is increasing, the gospel is being preached in the whole world, and the 2000th anniversary of the Church is approaching. Anti-Christian forces are everywhere; secular humanism, militant Islam, Chinese and Indian nationalism. In these last days, a clear understanding of the Apocalypse is vital.

Book The End of All Things is at Hand

Download or read book The End of All Things is at Hand written by Jack Pyle and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2018-10-17 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One hundred twenty-six million American citizens have stated they believe Jesus will return to this earth by 2050. Most of them await his arrival with mental pictures and images obtained from the blockbuster Left Behind series of books of LaHaye and Jenkins, or Hal Lindsey's portrayals in his book The Late Great Planet Earth. Both books are fictional images of the end of the world created from the nightmarish and ghoulish descriptions of the author of the book of Revelation who wrote of events he believed were to occur in the Roman world before the return of Jesus. It was to be a time of unimaginable horrors to come upon the world. We read daily of alleged apocalyptic signs occurring now which individuals believe point to the end of the age of which Jesus spoke. When one reads in detail the book of Revelation, before the Prince of Peace sets a foot on planet earth, it will be a smoking mess resulting from plague after plague that Jesus heaps upon earth's citizenry before his arrival. Jesus is shown to arrive on earth much like that of the Dragon Lady in the Game of Thrones, heaping fire and brimstone upon the ecology of the earth and its inhabitants. He wears a garment dipped in blood. This book is a bold walk through the Bible from beginning to end asserting that occupants of our planet are never going to ever see, the arrival of the characters portrayed in the prophetic books of the Old Testament nor John's already outdated visions on the isle of Patmos. World renowned bible scholars and theologians now tell us that Jesus believed the kingdom of God was to arrive on earth in his day and that the kingdom of God would be ushered into the world through his work and ministry to the nation of Israel. You will be introduced throughout to the Jesus of the Third Quest""a Jesus who is only understood by understanding the Judaic world in which he lived. He would have been potty trained like any normal Jewish child of his day. Jesus, it will be shown, obtained all his beliefs from his family, his synagogue, his community, and his society. This book will open your eyes to Jesus of the third quest. He was very human, capable of mistakes, and badly mistaken about the arrival of the kingdom of God. Christians generally think of Jesus being incapable of error, possessing omniscience and omnipotence, and having prior existence as God""wholly man and wholly God, as did the author. Third quest scholars and theologians tell us Jesus didn't see beyond the world in which he lived. Jesus expected to rule on earth in his day along with the twelve apostles. Most likely Jesus died feeling he was forsaken by God in what he set out to do. Of Jesus disputed last words on the cross, the most reasonable choice may well be those of Matthew's gospel"""Eli Eli lama sabachthani""(My God, my God! Why have you forsaken me?")
