Download or read book Anzengruber s Portrayal of Character written by Emory Nelson Ferriss and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2016-10-20 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Anzengruber's Portrayal of Character: A Dissertation A great part of each writer's real worth rests in his ability to represent the truths of reality. The test of the poet, 1n the broader sense of the word, his most valid claim! To have his name remembered by posterity, rests in his power to re ect through his characters the nature of the human soul. The deep philosophical truths which his characters utter need not make them worthy of attention. According to the degree in which they represent the funda mental characteristics of the human kind, do they have a right to exist. The specific environment in which the author has placed his characters, and the people with whom they are brought in contact, and by whom they are in uenced, may be foreign to the one, who, years, yes, generations after wards, studies them. Yet, if they represent in their strug gles the innate, eternal, strivings of the human soul, with its failures and successes; if they seem to us like living men and women with all of the human emotions and passions, they are worthy-of, and fruitful for, study. The important point is that these characters should be in harmony with their surroundings, and that their activities should be those true to such an environment. It has been those very qualities which have made all peoples interested in Shakespeare's tempted Brutus; in Victor Hugo's sorely tried Jean Valjean; and in Goethe's restless Faust. Each is a character entirely different from the other in his aspirations, in his trials, and in his general environment; but each represents to us a genuine human being with his constantly changing yet ever constant problems. Book Psychoanalytic Perspectives on Puberty and Adolescence

Download or read book Psychoanalytic Perspectives on Puberty and Adolescence written by Gertraud Diem-Wille and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-12-30 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Puberty is a time of tumultuous transition from childhood to adulthood activated by rapid physical changes, hormonal development and explosive activity of neurons. This book explores puberty through the parent-teenager relationship, as a "normal state of crisis", lasting several years and with the teenager oscillating between childlike tendencies and their desire to become an adult. The more parents succeed in recognizing and experiencing these new challenges as an integral, ineluctable emotional transformative process, the more they can allow their children to become independent. In addition, parents who can also see this crisis as a chance for their own further development will be ultimately enriched by this painful process. They can face up to their own aging as they take leave of youth with its myriad possibilities, accepting and working through a newfound rivalry with their sexually mature children, thus experiencing a process of maturity, which in turn can set an example for their children. This book is based on rich clinical observations from international settings, unique within the field, and there is an emphasis placed by the author on the role of the body in self-awareness, identity crises and gender construction. It will be of great interest to psychoanalysts, psychotherapists, parents and carers, as well as all those interacting with adolescents in self, family and society.

Book Fictional Artworks

Book excerpt: The volume is devoted to images in painting, photography and cinema invented by literature. At the same time it intends to question, through this perspective, the relationship between text and image, between verbal and visual in modern and contemporary literature. The authors involved study the mutual boundaries between literature and arts from the point of view of aesthetics, visual culture and literary theory, trying to build a map of the notional ekphrasis, a description which constitutes the work of art while telling it.
