Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Merino

Book Generaci n quemada

Download or read book Generaci n quemada written by David Foster Wallace and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Ezra Pound and the Spanish World

Download or read book Ezra Pound and the Spanish World written by Viorica Patea and published by Liverpool University Press. This book was released on 2024-04-26 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection offers for the first time criticism, biographical essays, analysis, translation studies, and reminiscences of Ezra Pound’s extensive interaction with Spain and Spanish culture, from his earliest visits to Spain in 1902 and 1906 and his study of significant Spanish writers to the dedication of the first monument erected anywhere to Pound in the small Spanish village of Medinaceli in 1973. Divided into two sections, Part One: “ON EZRA POUND AND THE SPANISH WORLD” includes a general introduction on Pound’s lifelong involvement with Spain, together with chapters on Pound’s study of classical Spanish literature, the Spanish dimension in The Cantos, Pound’s contemporary Spanish connections, and his legacy in contemporary Spanish letters. Part Two: “EZRA POUND AND THE SPANISH WORLD: A READER,” then gathers for the first time Pound’s own writings (postcards, letters, and essays) concerning Spain and Spanish writers, as well as his correspondence with Spanish poets Miguel de Unamuno and Juan Ramón Jiménez and with José Vázquez Amaral, the first Spanish translator of The Cantos in its entirety. The volume includes reminiscences by Spanish Novísimos poets, Antonio Colinas and Jaime Siles, written explicitly for this collection. Besides providing a thorough exploration into Pound’s engagement with Spain, this volume pays homage to Pound’s considerable influence on Spanish culture.

Book A Joyous Revolt

Download or read book A Joyous Revolt written by Linda Janet Holmes and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At long last—a book-length biography celebrates Toni Cade Bambara, a seminal literary, cultural, and political figure who was among the most widely read and frequently reviewed of the well-regarded black women writers to emerge in the 1970s. A Joyous Revolt: Toni Cade Bambara, Writer and Activist is the first-ever, full-length biography of a trailblazing artist who championed black women in her fiction as well as in her life. This incisive study provides a comprehensive treatment of Bambara's published and unpublished works, and it also documents her emerging vision of her role as an agent of change. The biography allows readers into the personal life of Bambara, offering personal insights into a woman with a strong public persona and friendships with other celebrated artists of her era. Perhaps most important for those seeking to understand and appreciate Bambara's legacy, it connects her oeuvre to the context of her experience and places all of her wide-ranging creative work in the context of her singular vision.

Book Richard Ford and the Fiction of Masculinities

Download or read book Richard Ford and the Fiction of Masculinities written by Josep M. Armengol and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2010 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Richard Ford and the Fiction of Masculinities demonstrates how contemporary U.S. novelist Richard Ford, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for literature, rewrites gender, and in particular masculinity, from highly subversive and innovative perspectives. Josep M. Armengol analyzes the construction, as well as the de-construction, of masculinity in all of Ford's major fictional texts to date, ranging from A Piece of My Heart to The Sportswriter to The Lay of the Land. Given its simultaneous critique of traditional masculinity and its depiction of alternative models of being a man, Ford's fiction is shown to be particularly interesting from a men's studies perspective, which aims not only to undermine patriarchal masculinity but also to look for new, non-hierarchical, and more egalitarian models of being a man in contemporary U.S. culture and literature. By framing Ford's contemporary representations of masculinity within a more general context of American literature, this book reveals how his texts continue along a trajectory of earlier American fiction while they also re-examine masculinity in new, more complex ways. Richard Ford and the Fiction of Masculinities contributes to the much-needed revision of men and masculinities in U. S. literature, and especially Richard Ford's fiction, where constructions of gender and masculinity remain, paradoxically enough, largely unexplored.
