The presence of healthy leaders brings blessing and peace to the community, while their absence results in much pain for the people and dysfunctionality for the organization. But, what does ¿healthy¿ mean? Humble, gentle, protective, upright, honest, decisive, able to teach, responsible, visionary, self-giving... the list can go on and on. However, the longer the list, the less likely we¿ll be motivated to try to become such a leader ¿ how can one ever achieve such an ocean of virtues? This book presents an alternative! Every characteristic of a healthy leader falls into five categories: Christ, Community, Character, Calling and Competencies. This ConneXions model offers us a biblical and distilled conceptual framework to understand the nature of a ¿healthy¿ leader:An effective, healthy Christian leader is a man or woman who knows God, was formed and lives in supportive and accountable community, has strong character, knows the purpose of God and presents it with credibility, clarity and passion, and has the necessary gifts, skills and knowledge to lead the people in the accomplishment of this purpose ¿ and is continually growing in all five areas. This book describes a clear and reachable goal of life transformation for everyone who desires to grow; moreover, its inspiring teaching will nurture and ignite your inner motivation to pursue this transformation. Book The Anointed

  • Author : Randall J. Stephens
  • Publisher : Harvard University Press
  • Release : 2012-07-09
  • ISBN : 0674072081
  • Pages : 381 pages

Download or read book The Anointed written by Randall J. Stephens and published by Harvard University Press. This book was released on 2012-07-09 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: American evangelicalism often appears as a politically monolithic, textbook red-state fundamentalism that elected George W. Bush, opposes gay marriage, abortion, and evolution, and promotes apathy about global warming. Prominent public figures hold forth on these topics, speaking with great authority for millions of followers. Authors Stephens and Giberson, with roots in the evangelical tradition, argue that this popular impression understates the diversity within evangelicalism—an often insular world where serious disagreements are invisible to secular and religiously liberal media consumers. Yet, in the face of this diversity, why do so many people follow leaders with dubious credentials when they have other options? Why do tens of millions of Americans prefer to get their science from Ken Ham, founder of the creationist Answers in Genesis, who has no scientific expertise, rather than from his fellow evangelical Francis Collins, current Director of the National Institutes of Health? Exploring intellectual authority within evangelicalism, the authors reveal how America’s populist ideals, anti-intellectualism, and religious free market, along with the concept of anointing—being chosen by God to speak for him like the biblical prophets—established a conservative evangelical leadership isolated from the world of secular arts and sciences. Today, charismatic and media-savvy creationists, historians, psychologists, and biblical exegetes continue to receive more funding and airtime than their more qualified counterparts. Though a growing minority of evangelicals engage with contemporary scholarship, the community’s authority structure still encourages the “anointed” to assume positions of leadership.

Download or read book Leadership by Anointing written by Morris E. Ruddick and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2014-04-30 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world's system is being shaken. Tenets of leadership considered benchmarks are undergoing reevaluation. One of the biggest challenges for Christian leaders, especially within the marketplace, is the balance between functioning in their own ability and yielding to God's headship as leaders. For many, the acceptable inclination is blending their "natural abilities" and what has been gleaned from the world's system, with an icing of polite ethics and a "praise the Lord." Yet, the heroes of faith reversed the equation. Having heard from God, they harnessed their natural abilities to conform to and support an ongoing flow of direction and wisdom from the Lord. Everything else sprang from that. It is a higher standard. During turbulent times, it is back to basics. What endures is drawn from God's truth. Leadership by Anointing uncovers the principles, pathways and models of biblical leadership in practice with God's covenant people over the centuries. The author's calling has been one of leadership for change. He was recently described by a long-time associate with these words: "Morris Ruddick heads several organizations and corporate entities, including Global Initiatives Foundation, The Ruddick Int'l Group, and a global intercession network. He has led development of entrepreneurial activities in critical needy areas and brought together business and ministry in several nations, including the Messianic Jewish community in Israel, as well as in Africa, Asia, Afghanistan, Belarus, Russia and other areas of need." Mr. Ruddick's Kingdom agendas reflect a unique merging of the secular and the spiritual. He sums it up as "an interlinking of secular business enterprises with overriding Kingdom objectives." Since 1995, Mr. Ruddick has been a voice encouraging and mobilizing Kingdom leaders and entrepreneurs. The world is searching for the leadership "pizzazz" that fosters an edge. Deuteronomy 29 notes the secret things belong to the Lord. These secret things are captured in the stories of the heroes of faith and Jesus' Kingdom message. They are the distinguishing mark of leadership by anointing.

In Gospelbound, Collin Hansen and Sarah Eekhoff Zylstra counter these growing fears with a robust message of resolute hope for anyone hungry for good news. Book excerpt: It is not uncommon for a Christian to want to accomplish great things for God. And so, in our zeal and passion for him, we set out to do just that. While there is certainly nothing wrong with such a mission, many Christians are faulty in the way to go about it. Too many set out with a zeal to accomplish something great for God without first submitting themselves to be the type of vessel through which God can do something great. There is a great difference in wanting to be used and wanting to be usable. One relies on self: talent, title, personal strengths. The other relies on Almighty God. And as talented as a person may be, his or her gifts pale in comparison to the power of God and what he could do through them, if they would only submit to him and his ways. The world needs more people through whom God can pour himself. Churches need men and women who are willing to trust in God and be greatly used of him. Homes need fathers and mothers who rely more heavily on the power of God to sustain them than they do their own muster. Our generation needs people who will wait on God to make them usable before setting out to accomplish greatness in their own strength.

Book excerpt: The handbook to prepare Christian leaders for God's calling!Between the moment you are anointed to do God's work, and the moment you are announced to do God's work, there is a process. This journey often serves as a time of growth and change because no one is made great overnight. David was anointed in his youth to be king, but he didn't actually become king until he was 30 years of age, and then he ruled for 40 years. Jesus performed his first miracle at the age of 12, but even then, he made it known that his time was yet to come. Becoming a great leader is a process in which many today become frustrated along the way and even quit. In this handbook, explore common traits that every great leader should possess as Mrs. King illustrates her points with her personal encounters, examples from Scripture, and stories of leaders in the Bible, such as Moses, the Apostle Paul, the three Hebrew boys, and others. One of the keys to successful leadership is applying the concepts that have made other leaders great. Here's your opportunity to do just that!
