En conséquence nous publions, cette année, les précis sur les cantons d'àubigny de Croi silles et de Marquise. Les données historiques qu'ils renferment sont de notre part l'objet de beaucoup d'études et de recherches. Voici les auteurs que pour les communes ayant fait partie de l'ancien diocèse d'arras nous avons particulièrement étudié cette année Locrius, l'avocat Maillard et le Père lgnaoe. Ce dernier compilateur infatigable enregistre assez confusément tout ce qui lui tombe sous la main. Il contredit sciemment toutefois, à la fin d'une page le renseignement qu'il a donné au commencement. Mais dans une introduction où le bon sens abonde, il prévient son lecteur'et l'engage ainsi implicitement à ne pas admettre tout ce qu'il dit sans vérification ultérieure. C'est ce que nous faisons.
