Book High Tc Superconductors and Related Materials

Download or read book High Tc Superconductors and Related Materials written by S.-L. Drechsler and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 568 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A broad introduction to high Tc superconductors, their parent compounds and related novel materials, covering both fundamental questions of modern solid state physics (such as correlation effects, fluctuations, unconventional symmetry of superconducting order parameter) and applied problems related to short coherence length, grain boundaries and thin films. The information that can be derived from electron spectroscopy and optical measurements is illustrated and explained in detail. Descriptions widely employ the clear, relatively simple, phenomenological Ginzburg-Landau model of complex phenomena, such as vortex physics, vortex charge determination, plasmons in superconductors, Cooper pair mass, and wetting of surfaces. The first comprehensive reviews of several novel classes of materials are presented, including borocarbides and chain cuprates.

Book Models and Phenomenology for Conventional and High Temperature Superconductivity

Download or read book Models and Phenomenology for Conventional and High Temperature Superconductivity written by Società italiana di fisica and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 1998 with total page 527 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The search for microscopic models to explain the many superconducting substances has introduced seminal concepts and techniques in many-body physics and in statistical mechanics. The complexity of the high-temperature superconductors has required a remarkable refinement of experimental techniques in order to allow a reliable characterization of the samples, and is partly the reason why so many different microscopic models have so far been proposed. This Enrico Fermi Course on Superconductivity was provided an up-to date presentation of selected experimental and theoretical theories on the (so called) conventional superconductivity and on the high temperature superconductivity. The attention was focused on those reliable measurements which are expected to provide the theory with key constraints, viz: Raman and Infrared Spectroscopy, Nuclear Spin Resonance, Angular Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy, transport measurements, Josephson effect. The lectures devoted to the overview of the BCS theory and to the discussion of minimal models and of the crossover from BCS to Bose-Einstein condensation may be particularly useful. The remaining part of the program was shared between phonon and non-phonon based mechanisms. On the one hand, special emphasis has been devoted to the breakdown of the Migdal theorem and to polaronic theories. On the other, the book contains an overview of strongly correlated electron theories, including magnetic interactions. A survey of the physics of vortices completes the theoretical part of the lectures.

Book Electron phonon Interaction And Lattice Dynamics In High Tc Superconductors

Download or read book Electron phonon Interaction And Lattice Dynamics In High Tc Superconductors written by Han Zhang and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2020-02-13 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understanding the mechanism of the high-temperature superconductors has been a very important topic in condensed matter physics. Researchers have been trying to explain the role of electron-phonon interaction (EPI) in cuprates. Some important properties of the cuprates could not be explained by conventional BCS theory. This book contains the experimental and theoretical studies on the EPI. The experimental part covers the results of angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), isotopic effect, elastic neutron scattering study of electron-phonon, lattice role and so on. The theoretical part covers the electron-phonon, polaron and bipolaron, effect of lattice, fine structure in the tunnelling spectra of electron-doped cuprates, identification of the bulk pairing symmetry in high-temperature superconductors.Students and researchers interested in high-temperature superconductors, especially the EPI in cuprates will find this title very useful.

Book Relaxations of Excited States and Photo Induced Phase Transitions

Download or read book Relaxations of Excited States and Photo Induced Phase Transitions written by Keiichiro Nasu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Message from The Taniguchi Foundation Dr. Kanamori, Distinguished Guests and Friends: The Taniguchi Foundation wishes to welcome the participants of the nine teenth International Symposium on the Theory of Condensed Matter, who have come from within this country and from different parts of the world. The concept of the symposium is unique in that participants, both Japanese and from abroad, are limited in number to small discussion groups, and live together, although for a short period, as a close-knit community. We feel that this kind of environment will assist towards the strengthening of understanding and the fostering of friendship among the attendees. It is easy to talk about, but difficult to realize, the ideal of international friendship and understanding in a world which is steadily growing smaller. So far, the Foundation has invited a total of 149 participants in this division from 24 foreign countries and 299 participants from Japan. And we are all friends. We hope and trust that even after they have reached the heights of academic fame during the coming decades, the participants will continue to join forces and help to forge closer bonds of friendship and cooperation that will make major contributions not only to academia, but also towards world peace and the welfare of mankind. We hope that all the participants will return home with warm memories of both this symposium and the pleasant times that we have shared. Thank you.

Book Polarons in Bulk Materials and Systems With Reduced Dimensionality

Download or read book Polarons in Bulk Materials and Systems With Reduced Dimensionality written by G. Iadonisi and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2006-05-22 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An enormous theoretical effort has been made to treat electron-phonon coupled systems, with particular emphasis on Many Body aspects for dense electron systems, taking into account continuum as well as lattice polaron effects. Treating such aspects of polaron theory has been made possible because of powerful Many Body techniques which include: Exact Diagonalization techniques, Quantum Monte Carlo approaches, Density Matrix renormalization group and Dynamical Mean Field Theory. All these advances in polaron theory needed to be accompanied by: (i) an equally important advance in material research which produced many new materials such as the high Tc cuprates, the manganites and nickelates and the fullerines; (ii) as well as significant advances in the refinement of experimental analysis and, in particular, the spectroscopic means such as Angel Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy, X Ray Absorption Spectroscopy (EXAFS, XANES), Pulsed Neutron Diffraction measurements allowing to study the local dynamical lattice de-formations and optical spectroscopy including time resolved measurements. The scope and purpose of this publication is to review both these theoretical and experimental advances which occurred over the last few decades and to introduce the study of such systems, where both strong electron-electron correlations and large electron-phonon coupling strengths play important roles.
