Cassandra, whose reputation is already in tatters, is now in danger of losing the one thing she vowed never to give. Download or read book Sex With Angels The Watchers and the Watched written by Jack Tanner and published by Magus Books. This book was released on with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God went to the daughters of men, and had children by them." - Genesis 6:4 Who were the "sons of God"? They were angels, and they mated with human females ("daughters of men") to create a hybrid race of angel-humans (the Nephilim), some of whom are reputed to be still alive in the present day. What is sex with angels like? It's said that once you go angel, you never go back to human. Is having sex with angels dangerous? Is there any truth behind the rumor that angels are obsessed with women's hair, as St. Paul suggested? Is sex with angels the purest sex, or the dirtiest? This book explores the entire context of having sex with angels. Via Dante's Divine Comedy - which describes an epic journey through hell, purgatory and paradise - a formula is provided for how you might simulate having sex with angels. Could you literally undergo a metamorphosis and become an angel: a son, or daughter, of God?

Download or read book Fallen Angels in the Theology of St Augustine written by Gregory D. Wiebe and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2021 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book ventures to describe Augustine of Hippo's understanding of demons, including the theology, angelology, and anthropology that contextualize it. Demons are, for Augustine as for the Psalmist (95:5 LXX) and the Apostle (1 Cor 10:20), the gods of the nations. This means that Augustine's demons are best understood neither when they are spiritualized as personifications of psychological struggles, nor in terms of materialist contagions that undergird a superstitious moralism. Rather, because the gods of the nations are the paradigm of demonic power and influence over humanity, Augustine sees the Christian's moral struggle against them within broader questions of social bonds, cultural form, popular opinion, philosophical investigation, liturgical movement, and so forth. In a word, Augustine's demons have a religious significance, particularly in its Augustinian sense of bonds and duties between persons, and between persons and that which is divine. Demons are a highly integrated component of his broader theology, rooted in his conception of angels as the ministers of all creation under God, and informed by the doctrine of evil as privation and his understanding of the fall, his thoughts on human embodiment, desire, visions, and the limits of human knowledge, as well as his theology of religious incorporation and sacraments. As false mediators, demons are mediated by false religion, the body of the devil, which Augustine opposes with an appeal to the true mediator, Christ, and the true religion of his body, the church.
Download or read book Willing Seduction written by Barbara Kosta and published by Berghahn Books. This book was released on 2012 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Josef von Sternberg's 1930 film The Blue Angel (Der blaue Engel) is among the best known films of the Weimar Republic (1919-1933). A significant landmark as one of Germany's first major sound films, it is known primarily for launching Marlene Dietrich into Hollywood stardom and for initiating the mythic pairing of the Austrian-born American director von Sternberg with the star performer Dietrich. This fascinating cultural history of The Blue Angel provides a new interpretive framework with which to approach this classic Weimar film and suggests that discourses on mass and high culture are integral to the film's thematic and narrative structure. These discourses surface above all in the relationship between the two main characters, the cabaret entertainer Lola Lola (Marlene Dietrich) and the high school teacher Immanuel Rath (one-time Oscar winner Emil Jannings). In addition to offering insight into some of the major debates that informed the Weimar Republic, this book demonstrates that similar issues continue to shape the contemporary cultural landscape of Germany. Barbara Kosta thus also looks at Dietrich as a contemporary cultural icon and at her symbolic value since German unification and at Lola Lola's various "incarnations."
Download or read book Impasse of the Angels written by Stefania Pandolfo and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 1997 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Impasse of the Angels, Stefania Pandolfo takes the critical engagement of anthropology to its limit by presenting the relationship between observer and observed as one of interacting equals and mutually constituting subjects. Narrating, debating, and imagining, real characters take center stage and, through their act of speech, invent a people rather than stand for it. Exploring what it means to be a subject in the historical and poetic imagination of a Moroccan society, Impasse of the Angels listens to dissonant and often idiosyncratic voices elaborate the fractures, wounds, and contradictions of the Maghribi postcolonial present. Passionate and lyric, ironic and tragic, it is a transformative narrative experiment traveling the boundary of ethnography and fiction.
