She even notes that some NFL stars made less than $100,000 during Oliver Luck's era. The senior Luck - a native of Cleveland, Ohio - attributed his athletic prowess to his German-born mother. "My dad was actually clumsy," Oliver Luck told Gibbens in September 2005. "But he loved watching his kids play sports. I was one of four children. There were three boys and one girl. Both of my parents were chemical engineers." He also emphasized his father, William, was not interested in football or sports, for that matter.
