Book And the Heretics of Tarantia

Download or read book And the Heretics of Tarantia written by Vincent Darlage and published by Mongoose Pub. This book was released on 2005-11-01 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Heretics of Tarantia is a Conan Roleplaying Game scenario of a different breed. Rather than hunting through a plague-ridden jungle in search of a city so old it has been forgotten or tracking a corrupt sorcerer to his demon-haunted layer, Heretics of Tarantia is a story of intrigue, backstabbing, politicking, and murder in that most princely of cities, Tarantia, capital of Aquilonia, the Flower of the West. Heretics of Tarantia is intended for a group of four to six Player Characters of approximately fifth to seventh level. Since much of it relies on the Player Characters' problem-solving abilities, it can easily be adjusted to accommodate groups of higher or lower character levels.

Book excerpt: 'Know, o prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the Sons of Aryas, there was an Age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars - Nemedia, Ophir, Brythunia, Hyberborea, Zamora with its dark-haired women and towers of spider-haunted mystery, Zingara with its chivalry, Koth that bordered on the pastoral lands of Shem, Stygia with its shadow-guarded tombs, Hyrkania whose riders wore steel and silk and gold. But the proudest kingdom of the world was Aquilonia, reigning supreme in the dreaming west. Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandaled feet.' The Second Edition of the wildly sucessful Conan roleplaying game revises and clarifies the existing rules, bringing in the best innovations and optional rules from the supplements, and offering new combat and tactical options for games masters and players, as well as crossover rules for the new Age of Conan wargame!

Book Pulp Fascism

    Book Details:
  • Author : Jonathan Bowden
  • Publisher : Counter-Currents Publishing
  • Release : 2013
  • ISBN : 9781935965633
  • Pages : 204 pages

Download or read book Pulp Fascism written by Jonathan Bowden and published by Counter-Currents Publishing. This book was released on 2013 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jonathan Bowden was a paradox: on the one hand, he was an avowed elitist and aesthetic modernist, yet on the other hand, he relished such forms of popular entertainment as comics, graphic novels, pulps, and even Punch and Judy shows, which not only appeal to the masses but also offer a refuge for pre- and anti-modern aesthetic tastes and tendencies. Bowden was drawn to popular culture because it was rife with Nietzschean and Right-wing themes: heroic vitalism, Faustian adventurism, anti-egalitarianism, biological determinism, racial consciousness, biologically-based (and traditional) notions of the differences and proper relations of the sexes, etc. Pulp Fascism collects Jonathan Bowden's principal statements on Right-wing themes in popular culture drawn from his essays, lectures, and interviews. These high-brow analyses of low-brow culture reveal just how deep and serious shallow entertainment can be. About Pulp Fascism: "Jonathan Bowden said that greatness lies in the mind and in the fist. Nietzsche combined both forms in the image of the warrior poet. For Bowden it was the image of the cultured thug. I give you Jonathan Bowden: cultured thug." -Greg Johnson, from the Foreword "Jonathan Bowden was uniquely gifted as a cultural critic and revisionist, willing to explore the obscure areas of high and low culture, and apply ideas from the former to the analysis of the later, starting always from the supposition that inequality is a moral good. Bowden's texts are dense and rich with reference and insight, yet remain entertaining and replete with humor." -Alex Kurtagi "Many men give speeches; Jonathan Bowden gave orations. To experience one of Bowden's performances must have been something like hearing Maria Callas in her prime or witnessing one of Mussolini's call to arms from a Roman balcony. "As an intellectual, Jonathan was a Renaissance man, or perhaps a bundle of contradictions: his novels and paintings were of Joycean complexity, and yet, in his orations and non-fiction writings, he was able to cut to the essence of a philosophy or political development in a way that was immediately understandable and, indeed, useful for nationalists. "Pulp Fascism could be called Bowden's 'unfinished symphony'- his attempt (not quite realized) to reveal the radical, ambivalent, and, in some cases, shockingly traditionalist undercurrents in pop culture. "That which envelops our lives is taken for granted . . . and thus rarely properly analyzed and understood. Bowden brings new life to those characters and comic-book worlds we too often dismiss as child's play." -Richard Spencer About the Author Jonathan Bowden, April 12, 1962-March 29, 2012, was a British novelist, playwright, essayist, painter, actor, and orator, and a leading thinker and spokesman of the British New Right. Born in Kent and largely self-educated, Bowden was involved with a series of Right-wing groups for which he was a popular speaker, including the Monday Club, the Western Goals Institute, the Revolutionary Conservative Caucus, the Freedom Party, the Bloomsbury Forum, the British National Party, and finally the New Right (London), of which he was the Chairman. Bowden was a prolific author of fiction, philosophy, criticism, and commentary.

Book Player s Guide to the Hyborian Age

Download or read book Player s Guide to the Hyborian Age written by Vincent Darlage and published by . This book was released on 2008-04-08 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Hyborian age is the ultimate 'age undreamed of.' The Hyborian age is one of the fundamental inspirations for the sword-and-sorcery genre. The Hyborian age is an age of larger than life characters who take what they want at sword's length - or they use sorcery to fulfill their desires. It is a world where civilisation and barbarism co-exist with crimson clashes and a world where death can be found in almost any shadow or niche. The Hyborian age is an epoch where people called 'noble' are debauched and corrupt and people labelled as 'savage' are honourable and straight-forward. Aimed at players, this book allows players to make their characters less generic and more a product of this fascinating world. Armed with this book, a player will have tools to breathe additional life into their created characters.

Download or read book The Haunter of the Ring written by Robert E. Howard and published by Read Books Ltd. This book was released on 2015-02-12 with total page 21 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This early work by Robert E. Howard was originally published in the 1934 and we are now republishing it with a brand new introductory biography. 'The Haunter of the Ring' is one of Howard's stories featuring the character John Kirowan and is part of the Cthulhu Mythos. Robert Ervin Howard was born in Peaster, Texas in 1906. During his youth, his family moved between a variety of Texan boomtowns, and Howard - a bookish and somewhat introverted child - was steeped in the violent myths and legends of the Old South. At fifteen Howard began to read the pulp magazines of the day, and to write more seriously. The December 1922 issue of his high school newspaper featured two of his stories, 'Golden Hope Christmas' and 'West is West'. In 1924 he sold his first piece - a short caveman tale titled 'Spear and Fang' - for $16 to the not-yet-famous Weird Tales magazine. Howard's most famous character, Conan the Cimmerian, was a barbarian-turned-King during the Hyborian Age, a mythical period of some 12,000 years ago. Conan featured in seventeen Weird Tales stories between 1933 and 1936 which is why Howard is now regarded as having spawned the 'sword and sorcery' genre. The Conan stories have since been adapted many times, most famously in the series of films starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Book Cyclopean Deeps Volume 1 Swords Wizardry

Download or read book Cyclopean Deeps Volume 1 Swords Wizardry written by Matt Finch and published by . This book was released on 2018-05 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deep beneath the ground, in those regions where the echoes of mankind's feet are seldom heard, where even firelight is a bizarre intruder from a long-forgotten place, the foes of mankind breed and multiply. It is a realm of dark chaos - for these creatures of the echoing deeps count each other as rivals and enemies. It is a place without peace, a place without virtues, a place where every countenance of evil is to be found in sluggish torpor, stirring restlessly in dreams of cruelty and hatred. These dark and deadly provinces are known as the Under Realms. Most named regions in the Under Realms are quite distinct from each other, whether by geological formation or by the types of inhabitants that have established themselves in strategically important areas. Characters who enter this area expecting to find drowic elves, deep gnomes, and other "normal" features of the Under Realms will swiftly discover the error of their thinking. The Vaults of the Sunless Sea, located to the north of the Cyclopean Deeps, might fit that description, but the Cyclopean Deeps are a different and decidedly more unpleasant area into which the denizens of the Vaults seldom venture. This series of adventures forms a mini-campaign in the depths of the earth, suitable for a party of 4+ characters with an average level of 10-12, or 8+ characters with an average level around 7. For Swords & Wizardry.
