Book The Analysis of Regulatory DNA Current Developments Knowledge and Applications Uncovering Gene Regulation

Download or read book The Analysis of Regulatory DNA Current Developments Knowledge and Applications Uncovering Gene Regulation written by Kenneth Berendzen and published by Bentham Science Publishers. This book was released on 2013-10-29 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A major goal of integrative research is understanding regulatory networks to such an extent as to allow researchers to model developmental and stress responses. Regulatory networks of living systems include complex and vast interactions between proteins, metabolites, RNA, various signaling molecules and DNA. One aspect of systems biology is understanding the dynamics of protein-DNA interactions affecting gene expression that are caused by transcription factors (TFs) and chromatin remodeling factors. This e-book provides a resource for summarizing current knowledge eukaryotic transcription and explores cis-elements and methods for their analysis, prediction and discovery. The book also presents an overview of exploring gene regulatory networks, chromatin, and miRNAs. Information about state-of-the-art techniques for the determination of TF - cis-element interactions in vivo and in silico give cutting edge insights on how genomic-scale research is being approached. The Analysis of Regulatory DNA provides readers with both the necessary background knowledge and provocative, up-to-date insights aimed at sparking new and vibrant experimental designs for understanding and predicting cis-elements in the eukaryotic genome.

Download or read book Transcription written by Ronald C. Conaway and published by Raven Press (ID). This book was released on 1994 with total page 600 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presents a coherent account of many productive lines of investigation, organized as a series of mini-reviews that focus on major research areas including studies on the structure and mechanisms of action of bacterial, viral, and eukaryotic RNA polymerases, and the transcription factors that control their activities. Each review provides a brief but up-to-date account of the progress of research in a particular area, a discussion of the major issues and questions driving that research, and a brief description of the evolving approaches and technologies used to address those questions. Book RNA Polymerases as Molecular Motors

Download or read book RNA Polymerases as Molecular Motors written by Robert Landick and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2021-11-23 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To thrive, every living cell must continuously gauge and respond to changes in its environment. These changes are ultimately implemented by modulating gene expression, a process that relies on transcription by Nature’s most multivalent molecular machine, the RNA polymerase. This book covers progress made over the past decade understanding how this machine functions to compute the cellular state, from the atomistic structural level responsible for chemistry to the integrative level at which RNA polymerase interacts with the other key molecular machineries of the cell.

Download or read book RNA Editing written by Brenda Bass and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2001 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The information encoded in DNA is conveyed to the rest of the cell in a molecule called RNA. To diversify this information, as well as repair it when mistakes are made, RNA is modified through a series of reactions known as RNA editing. This book describes the fascinating and unexpectedly diverse ways RNA editing can occur, in organisms ranging from single- celled protozoa to man.

Book Biochemical and Genetic Characterization of the Transcription Elongation Factor TFIIS from the Yeast Saccharomyces Cerevisiae

Download or read book Biochemical and Genetic Characterization of the Transcription Elongation Factor TFIIS from the Yeast Saccharomyces Cerevisiae written by Karen Renee Christie and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 600 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Regulation of the process of transcriptional elongation is an important control mechanism in the expression of some genes. To fully understand this form of regulation will require better understanding of the functions of transcription elongation factors. The goal of this work was to characterize the transcription elongation factor TFIIS from Saccharomyces cerevisiae, originally called P37. I demonstrated that, like the mammalian TFIIS proteins, the yeast protein stimulates RNA polymerase II to cleave the nascent RNA transcript and to read-through an intrinsic block to elongation. Investigation of the protein-protein contacts between TFIIS and RNA polymerase II indicated that the carboxyl-terminal domain of the largest subunit, subunit four, and subunit seven of the polymerase are not required for TFIIS to promote cleavage and read-through by the polymerase. In addition the carboxyl-terminal half of the yeast TFIIS protein is sufficient for both of these in vitro activities. This result is consistent with the previous results demonstrating the carboxyl-terminus of mouse TFIIS was sufficient to activate RNA polymerase in vitro.
