Book Theoretical Analysis of Two Core Self saturating Magnetic Amplifiers

Download or read book Theoretical Analysis of Two Core Self saturating Magnetic Amplifiers written by Raymond B. Yarbrough and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The analysis is based on piecewise linearization of the saturable reactor and semiconductor diode, and the principle of zero average magnetic flux change in a saturable reactor for a cycle which begins and ends with saturation. This allows a purely mathematic analysis in terms of half cycle average values. The consideration of circuit topology leads to a set of eight realizable output configurations and six basic control configurations for two core amplifiers. The nontrivial combinations of control and output circuits are considered, leading to three classes of two core self-saturating magnetic amplifiers. The analysis of each class of amplifiers provides terminal relations in the form of finite difference equations. These relations show the inherent limitations of the amplifiers and the optimum control configurations. General design considerations are developed. The theoretical results are compared with the characteristics of actual circuits, showing the limitations of the analysis. (Author).

Book Investigation of Two Stage Magnetic Amplifiers

Download or read book Investigation of Two Stage Magnetic Amplifiers written by and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two stage magnetic amplifiers are extensively used in many applications, but several types have not previously been mathematically analyzed. The Hybrid III is described in detail and analyzed by the method of finite difference equations. Experimental data confirms the analysis for negligible source resistance of the power supplies, but shows that the analysis is invalid for appreciably supply source resistance. Further examination reveals the cause of the strong effect of source resistance. The Hybrid IV is described in detail and analyzed by the same method. Experimental data fails to confirm the analysis completely, but when steps are taken to eliminate diode unblocking, the gain is confirmed.

Book Self saturating Magnetic Amplifiers with Frequency Dependent Networks

Download or read book Self saturating Magnetic Amplifiers with Frequency Dependent Networks written by Anthony D. Robbi and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A variety of two-core full-wave self-saturating magnetic amplifiers in conjunction with either frequency dependent loads or feedbacks are studied, emphasizing the bridge-type amplifier with resistive-capacitive load and conventional feedbacks and the same amplifier with resistive load and frequency sensitive feedback networks. Steady-state gain expressions are derived for square-wave and sinusoidal gate supply voltages. The possible subharmonic response of the amplifier with resistive - capacitive load is explained and conditions for its avoidance are derived. The transient behavior and stability of the various second-order circuits has been studied using a difference-equation approach, and the results are interpreted in terms of an equivalent modular differential equation of the second-order. Extensions to sinusoidal supply are considered and the limitations of the squarewave analysis for such situations are discussed. Extensive checks of overall system behavior confirm the validity of the analyses. (Author).
