Book Investigation of Traveling Wave Parametric and Hybrid Coupled Tunnel Diode Amplifiers

Download or read book Investigation of Traveling Wave Parametric and Hybrid Coupled Tunnel Diode Amplifiers written by D. FLERI and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory, design, construction and performanc of a tunnel diode hybrid coupled amplifier is presented with particular emphasis on gain, bandwidth, oise figure, and stability. The experimental unit developed exhibits maximum gainAND MINIMUM NOISE FIGURE AT APPROXIMATELY 100 MV AND 140 MV BIAS RESPECTIVELY. At an operating bias of 120 mv the amplifier provides 8 db to 13 db gain over the 125 to 500 mcs frequency range. Measurements of 225 and 400 mc indicate the amplifier noise figure to be approximately 4.5 db. Amplifier stability formed an importa t aspect of this investigation. For stable operation it is necessary (and sufficient) that each amplifier module itself be stable when connected to the hybrid and that the loop gain between the input and output ports of the amplifier be less tha unity. Book C Band Integrated Tunnel Diode Amplifier

Download or read book C Band Integrated Tunnel Diode Amplifier written by William Crowe and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 55 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A C-band tunnel diode amplifier has been constructed utilizing microwave integrated circuit techniques. Operation in both the hybrid coupled and circulator couples modes was implemented. The MIC medium employed was silver or copper clad high purity aluminum oxide. Circuit elements of both lumped and distributed nature were used, the latter being constructed in microstrip transmission line. Gains of 15 db with 400 MHz bandwidth and noise figure of the order of 7 db have been measured. (Author).

Book Advances in Microwaves

Download or read book Advances in Microwaves written by Leo Young and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Microwaves, Volume 2 focuses on the developments in microwave solid-state devices and circuits. This volume contains six chapters that also describe the design and applications of diplexers and multiplexers. The first chapter deals with the parameters of the tunnel diode, oscillators, amplifiers and frequency converter, followed by a simple physical description and the basic operating principles of the solid state devices currently capable of generating coherent microwave power, including transistors, harmonic generators, and tunnel, avalanche transit time, and diodes. The next chapters discuss the characteristics of cooled parametric amplifiers; effective input noise temperature, gain-bandwidth product; gain stability, shot noise and varactor heating; and design and analysis principles of varactor harmonic generators. A chapter surveys the theory, design, and applications of diplexers and multiplexers. The concluding chapter treats the numerical solution of broad classes of problems that arise in the use of TEM-mode transmission lines.

Book Equipment Characteristics and Their Relation to System Performance for Tropospheric Communication Circuits

Download or read book Equipment Characteristics and Their Relation to System Performance for Tropospheric Communication Circuits written by A. F. Barghausen and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The performance of a tropospheric communications system, either within the line of sight or beyond the line of sight, is directly dependent on the operating characteristics of the equipment. Performance predictions of a communications system are made on the basis that equipment will operate in a prescribed manner. The degree of success of the communications system will depend largely upon how well these predicted values correspond to the actual operating values. Consideration is given to those portions of the equipment that have definite effect upon the operating performance. Specific items of equipment and methods for determining their performance are considered. Representative results in light of the present state of the art permits an evaluation of an actual system in terms of realizing an "optimum" system. In systems that do not have the "optimum" characteristics desired, consideration is given to laboratory devices which may alleviate these deficiencies. Future systems should consider incorporating these devices as development permits.

Book Solid State Devices and Applications

Download or read book Solid State Devices and Applications written by Rhys Lewis and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solid-State Devices and Applications is an introduction to the solid-state theory and its devices and applications. The book also presents a summary of all major solid-state devices available, their theory, manufacture, and main applications. The text is divided into three sections. The first part deals with the semiconductor theory and discusses the fundamentals of semiconductors; the kinds of diodes and techniques in their manufacture; the types and modes of operation of bipolar transistors; and the basic principles of unipolar transistors and their difference with bipolar transistors. The second part talks about the kinds of integrated circuits and their future developments; amplifiers, including their fundamentals and different types; and the principles and categories of oscillators. The third part discusses the applications of solid-state devices; transistor parameters and equivalent circuits; and the fundamentals and applications of Boolean-algebra. The book is a good read for technicians and students who are about to enter or are currently in their final stages of their course, as well as those who have recently finished and would like to have their knowledge refreshed.
