Book Analyse et estimations spectrales des processus alpha stables non stationnaires

Download or read book Analyse et estimations spectrales des processus alpha stables non stationnaires written by Nourddine Azzaoui and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this work a new spectral representation of a symmetric alpha-stable processes is introduced. It is based on a covariation pseudo-additivity and Morse-Transue's integral with respect to a bimeasure built by using pseudo-additivity property. This representation, specific to (S alpha S) processes, is analogous to the covariance of second order processes. On the other hand, it generalizes the representation established for stochastic integrals with respect to symmetric alpha-stable process of independent increments. We provide a classification of non-stationary harmonizable processes; this classification is based on the bimeasure structure. In particular, we defined and investigated periodically covariated processes. To simulate and build this unusual class, a new decomposition in the Lepage's type series was derived. Finally, to apply this results in practical situations, a nonparametric estimation of spectral densities are discussed. In particular, in the case of periodically covariated processes, an almost sure convergent estimators was derived under the strong mixing condition.

Download or read book Processus alpha stables pour la s paration et l estimation robustes des signaux non gaussiens et ou non stationnaires written by Mohamed Sahmoudi and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this thesis, we introduce some new blind source separation approches for heavy-tailed and/or nonstationary signals. The impulsive, or heavy-tailed signals are modeled as real-valued symmetric alpha-stable processes characterized by infinite second and higher order moments. For the heavy-tailed signals separation, the proposed approaches uses the minimum dispersion criterion, the normalized statistics, some contrast function and a semi-parametric version of the maximum likelihood principle respectively. For the nonstationary FM signals in heavy-tailed noise, we propose some parametric and non-parametric methodes. Parametric methodes are based on the polynomial phase transform and the subspace method MUSIC. The non-parametric methodes are based on the use of the time-frequency representation of the signals. In a first appraoch, we use a preprocessing stage to mitigate the impulsive noise effect, while in the second one we design a new robust time-frequency distribution.

Book Semiparametric Theory and Missing Data

Download or read book Semiparametric Theory and Missing Data written by Anastasios Tsiatis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-01-15 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book summarizes current knowledge regarding the theory of estimation for semiparametric models with missing data, in an organized and comprehensive manner. It starts with the study of semiparametric methods when there are no missing data. The description of the theory of estimation for semiparametric models is both rigorous and intuitive, relying on geometric ideas to reinforce the intuition and understanding of the theory. These methods are then applied to problems with missing, censored, and coarsened data with the goal of deriving estimators that are as robust and efficient as possible.

Book Linear Matrix Inequalities in System and Control Theory

Download or read book Linear Matrix Inequalities in System and Control Theory written by Stephen Boyd and published by SIAM. This book was released on 1994-01-01 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book the authors reduce a wide variety of problems arising in system and control theory to a handful of convex and quasiconvex optimization problems that involve linear matrix inequalities. These optimization problems can be solved using recently developed numerical algorithms that not only are polynomial-time but also work very well in practice; the reduction therefore can be considered a solution to the original problems. This book opens up an important new research area in which convex optimization is combined with system and control theory, resulting in the solution of a large number of previously unsolved problems.

Book Multifractional Stochastic Fields Wavelet Strategies In Multifractional Frameworks

Download or read book Multifractional Stochastic Fields Wavelet Strategies In Multifractional Frameworks written by Antoine Ayache and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2018-09-25 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fractional Brownian Motion (FBM) is a very classical continuous self-similar Gaussian field with stationary increments. In 1940, some works of Kolmogorov on turbulence led him to introduce this quite natural extension of Brownian Motion, which, in contrast with the latter, has correlated increments. However, the denomination FBM is due to a very famous article by Mandelbrot and Van Ness, published in 1968. Not only in it, but also in several of his following works, Mandelbrot emphasized the importance of FBM as a model in several applied areas, and thus he made it to be known by a wide community. Therefore, FBM has been studied by many authors, and used in a lot of applications. In spite of the fact that FBM is a very useful model, it does not always fit to real data. This is the reason why, for at least two decades, there has been an increasing interest in the construction of new classes of random models extending it, which offer more flexibility. A paradigmatic example of them is the class of Multifractional Fields. Multifractional means that fractal properties of models, typically, roughness of paths and self-similarity of probability distributions, are locally allowed to change from place to place. In order to sharply determine path behavior of Multifractional Fields, a wavelet strategy, which can be considered to be new in the probabilistic framework, has been developed since the end of the 90's. It is somehow inspired by some rather non-standard methods, related to the fine study of Brownian Motion roughness, through its representation in the Faber-Schauder system. The main goal of the book is to present the motivations behind this wavelet strategy, and to explain how it can be applied to some classical examples of Multifractional Fields. The book also discusses some topics concerning them which are not directly related to the wavelet strategy.

Book Regularization and Bayesian Methods for Inverse Problems in Signal and Image Processing

Download or read book Regularization and Bayesian Methods for Inverse Problems in Signal and Image Processing written by Jean-Francois Giovannelli and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-02-02 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The focus of this book is on "ill-posed inverse problems". These problems cannot be solved only on the basis of observed data. The building of solutions involves the recognition of other pieces of a priori information. These solutions are then specific to the pieces of information taken into account. Clarifying and taking these pieces of information into account is necessary for grasping the domain of validity and the field of application for the solutions built. For too long, the interest in these problems has remained very limited in the signal-image community. However, the community has since recognized that these matters are more interesting and they have become the subject of much greater enthusiasm. From the application field’s point of view, a significant part of the book is devoted to conventional subjects in the field of inversion: biological and medical imaging, astronomy, non-destructive evaluation, processing of video sequences, target tracking, sensor networks and digital communications. The variety of chapters is also clear, when we examine the acquisition modalities at stake: conventional modalities, such as tomography and NMR, visible or infrared optical imaging, or more recent modalities such as atomic force imaging and polarized light imaging.

Book Bayesian Approach to Inverse Problems

Download or read book Bayesian Approach to Inverse Problems written by Jérôme Idier and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-03-01 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many scientific, medical or engineering problems raise the issue of recovering some physical quantities from indirect measurements; for instance, detecting or quantifying flaws or cracks within a material from acoustic or electromagnetic measurements at its surface is an essential problem of non-destructive evaluation. The concept of inverse problems precisely originates from the idea of inverting the laws of physics to recover a quantity of interest from measurable data. Unfortunately, most inverse problems are ill-posed, which means that precise and stable solutions are not easy to devise. Regularization is the key concept to solve inverse problems. The goal of this book is to deal with inverse problems and regularized solutions using the Bayesian statistical tools, with a particular view to signal and image estimation. The first three chapters bring the theoretical notions that make it possible to cast inverse problems within a mathematical framework. The next three chapters address the fundamental inverse problem of deconvolution in a comprehensive manner. Chapters 7 and 8 deal with advanced statistical questions linked to image estimation. In the last five chapters, the main tools introduced in the previous chapters are put into a practical context in important applicative areas, such as astronomy or medical imaging.
