Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analog computing is one of the main pillars of Unconventional Computing. Almost forgotten for decades, we now see an ever-increasing interest in electronic analog computing because it offers a path to high-performance and highly energy-efficient computing. These characteristics are of great importance in a world where vast amounts of electric energy are consumed by today’s computer systems. Analog computing can deliver efficient solutions to many computing problems, ranging from general purpose analog computation to specialised systems like analog artificial neural networks. The book “Analog Computing” has established itself over the past decade as the standard textbook on the subject and has been substantially extended in this second edition, which includes more than 300 additional bibliographical entries, and has been expanded in many areas to include much greater detail. These enhancements will confirm this book’s status as the leading work in the field. It covers the history of analog computing from the Antikythera Mechanism to recent electronic analog computers and uses a wide variety of worked examples to provide a comprehensive introduction to programming analog computers. It also describes hybrid computers, digital differential analysers, the simulation of analog computers, stochastic computers, and provides a comprehensive treatment of classic and current analog computer applications. The last chapter looks into the promising future of analog computing.

Download or read book Literature Search of Publications Concerning the Prediction of Dynamic Inlet Flow Distortion and Related Topics written by William G. Schweikhard and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Publications prior to March 1981 were surveyed to determine inlet flow dynamic distortion prediction methods and to catalog experimental and analytical information concerning inlet flow dynamic distortion prediction methods and to catalog experimental and analytical information concerning inlet flow dynamics at the engine-inlet interface of conventional aircraft (excluding V/STOL). The sixty-five publications found are briefly summarized and tabulated according to topic and are cross-referenced according to content and nature of the investigation (e.g., predictive, experimental, analytical and types of tests). Three appendices include lists of references, authors, organizations and agencies conducting the studies. Also, selected materials summaries, introductions and conclusions - from the reports are included. Few reports were found covering methods for predicting the probable maximum distortion. The three predictive methods found are those of Melick, Jacox and Motycka. The latter two require extensive high response pressure measurements at the compressor face, while the Melick Technique can function with as few as one or two measurements.

Download or read book Intake Aerodynamics written by J. Seddon and published by AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics). This book was released on 1999 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Intake Aerodynamics, Second Edition" presents computational advancements and discoveries in intake aerodynamics. A companion volume to "Practical Intake Aerodynamic Design," this important text considers the problem of airflow, both internal and external to air intake, as applied to civil and military aircraft. It covers the aerodynamics of subsonic and supersonic intakes in real flows, maintaining a progression through the transonic range. Also considered is the joint perspective of the airframe designer and the propulsion specialist in practical cases. Readers will gain insight into the fluid mechanics behind the deceleration of air from free stream to engine velocity, and an understanding of air compression and external drag in extensively revised chapters reflecting progress in the field. More than 300 drawings and diagrams help to illustrate the points defined throughout the book. Copublished with Blackwell Science Ltd.
