Book An Optimal Delivery Strategy for Multi perishable Products Through Supply Chain Network

Download or read book An Optimal Delivery Strategy for Multi perishable Products Through Supply Chain Network written by Saleh Yahya Alghamdi and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The optimization of delivery plan is a critical issue, especially for multiple perishable products in any profitable organization. This paper develops a model for the efficient implementation of supply chain systems for multiple perishable products. The mathematical model developed maximizes the profit while taking into consideration shelf life and the cost of transportation. The price or value of products is affected by its remaining shelf-life. An optimal delivery plan is developed based on shelf-life, time to transport the perishable products within the network reaching to retailer, while including the minimization of transportation cost in the model. In addition, the optimal delivery plan identifies the right quantity of each type of perishable products to be delivered. In this research, a mathematical model is utilized for solving the multi-objective mathematical problem, which includes revenue maximization, and minimization of transportation models to perform an optimal delivery plan. This paper’s central aim is to maximize the gross profit while identifying the best delivery method for multiple perishable products.

Book Supply Chain System for Perishable Products issues Models and Strategies

Download or read book Supply Chain System for Perishable Products issues Models and Strategies written by Mutlib Algannas and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation develops a multi-objective framework for optimal replenishment strategy for perishable product to optimize revenue and transportation costs considering shelf life and delivery planning objectives under varying price scenario. Varying prices restrictions of shelf life time for product is introduced into this model to maximize the total profit of supply chain for perishable product. Using the frameworks developed, optimal delivery schedules for perishable products when the product prices vary based on the deteriorated or remaining shelf life of the product are determined. In this dissertation, mixed integer nonlinear (MINLP) mathematical models are developed for multi-objective problems with an objective to maximize revenue while taking into consideration shelf life, and minimization of transportation cost in order to determine the best schedule for delivery. The objective of the next research is in the study of location-allocation of depots for the development of supply chains of perishable products in which the prices depend on the time of delivery. This study developed models with an objective to maximize revenue while determining the need for adding new depots in order to minimize the total cost of the supply chain while meeting the due dates for delivery of the perishable product. MINLP models are developed for maximization of revenue while taking into consideration shelf life, the costs associated with depots, and minimization of transportation cost while meeting due dates for delivery. The last research objective in this dissertation develops a multi-objective optimal replenishment strategy for perishable product to optimize revenue and transportation costs considering shelf life and flexible customer demands. This research extends the initial objective to include demand profiles for multiple days for each retailer with an objective to maximize the total profit of the supply chain for perishable product.

Book Integrated Procurement and Distribution of Perishable Products in a Multi echelon Supply Chain System

Download or read book Integrated Procurement and Distribution of Perishable Products in a Multi echelon Supply Chain System written by Linlin Ma (Industrial engineer) and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 69 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper presents solutions to the grocery industry's perishable inventory problem. To meet their customers' increasing desire for various kinds of perishable products from all over the world, management must deal with widely different suppliers and customers. They must make optimal operational decisions on how to handle procurement and distribution of ordered items. This is crucial to their profit margin especially when dealing with the deterioration of time sensitive goods in transit. This thesis analyzes when products should be ordered, how much of perishable items should be replenished and how goods are allocated to retail stores. A three-level supply chain is studied in this model, which consists of non-identical suppliers, distribution centers and retail stores. Existing models in the related literature often have negligible or identical lead-times of suppliers, and sole source suppliers taking advantage of their exclusivity. However, a grocery company usually has various suppliers (with quantity discounts) and operates multiple warehouses and retail stores. This research will focus on this more comprehensive scenario. Another problem in previous models is FIFO (First-In-First-Out) or LIFO (Last-In-First-Out) inventory policy, since the decreasing price towards the end of the shelf life has a negative impact on revenue. However, in order to achieve the highest profit, optimal decisions are based upon items in each stage of aging. The results will show comparison among the three inventory policies under different decay models.

Book Metaheuristics for Production Systems

Download or read book Metaheuristics for Production Systems written by El-Ghazali Talbi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-11-26 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the main techniques and newest trends to manage and optimize the production and service systems. The book begins by examining the three main levels of decision systems in production: the long term (strategic), the middle term (tactical) and short term (operational). It also considers online management as a new level (a sub level of the short term). As each level encounters specific problems, appropriate approaches to deal with these are introduced and explained. These problems include the line design, the line balancing optimization, the physical layout of the production or service system, the forecasting optimization, the inventory management, the scheduling etc. Metaheuristics for Production Systems then explores logistic optimization from two different perspectives: internal (production management), addressing issues of scheduling, layout and line designs, and external (supply chain management) focusing on transportation optimization, supply chain evaluation, and location of production. The book also looks at NP-hard problems that are common in production management. These complex configurations may mean that optimal solutions may not be reached due to variables, but the authors help provide a good solution for such problems. The effective new results and solutions offered in this book should appeal to researchers, managers, and engineers in the production and service industries.

Book Pull based Supply Chain Allocation for Multi product in Multi echelon Distribution System

Download or read book Pull based Supply Chain Allocation for Multi product in Multi echelon Distribution System written by Pongchai Athikomrattanakul and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In today's highly competitive market environment, only companies with a highly efficient supply chain management, which integrates all decisions in various levels of planning and operations, can survive. These decisions must be coordinated and under the same goal, which is to minimize the total systemwide costs of the firm while products are manufactured and distributed to end-customers or retailers. In this study, the focus is on a pull-based supply chain, customer demand driven, multiple products and multiple echelon distribution system consisting of m manufacturing centers, n distribution centers, and p retailers or customers. The objectives of this study can be categorized into two parts. The first objective is to present a general framework of the design and configuration of the supply chain network at strategic and tactical planning levels in a single-product and multi-product multi-echelon supply chain systems. The problems deal with determining the appropriate number, location, and size of each manufacturing facility and distribution center/warehouse that should be used within the logistics network. The second objective of the research is to present a methodology for using a pull-based supply chain system both for a single-product system and multi-product system at the operational planning level. The problems deal with determining which products customers will receive from each available manufacturing facility and distribution center, what production quantities of the products should be manufactured by a particular manufacturing facility, and what quantities of each product and ways of shipment should be used from manufacturing facilities to distribution centers and to customers. Based on the nature of these large-scale mixed integer programming problems, decomposition heuristic algorithms based on relationships between primal and dual decompositions are developed. The mathematical models and heuristic algorithms are then demonstrated and evaluated on several sets of randomly generated problems. Although the heuristic algorithms do not guarantee optimum solutions, their results of the test problems suggest that the heuristics are effective in solving fairly large problems with reasonable computational time. Furthermore, they produce superior performances as compared to the other techniques that are tested.
