Download or read book Basic Materials Studies written by P N Peapell and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-01-21 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: BASIC Materials Studies is a supplement to a variety of materials courses which intends to indicate how simple computer programs, such as Beginners All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code (BASIC), can be used to illustrate and clarify materials principles. The book starts by providing an introduction to BASIC including the BASIC approach, the elements and different computers and variants of BASIC, checking programs, and graphic and special commands. Chapter 2 tackles the three aspects of the structure of materials: the arrangement of atoms in crystals; the composition and quantity of phases within the structure; and the microscopical assessment of the distribution of phases in a structure. The book continues by discussing the essential theory and programs of thermodynamics and kinetics of solids; mechanical properties of polymers; and deformation and strength of crystalline materials. The last chapter of the book illustrates the materials available; the variety of their properties; and the combinations of characteristics that are available or impossible to achieve with real materials. Students with only a brief introduction to BASIC or engaged on a variety of vocational and non-vocational materials courses will find this book invaluable.

Download or read book Learning SOLIDWORKS 2016 written by Randy Shih and published by SDC Publications. This book was released on 2015-12 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book will teach you everything you need to know to start using SOLIDWORKS 2016 with easy to understand, step-by-step tutorials. This book features a simple robot design used as a project throughout the book. You will learn to model parts, create assemblies, run simulations and even create animations of your robot design. No previous experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) is needed since this book starts at an introductory level. The author begins by getting you familiar with the SOLIDWORKS interface and its basic tools right away. You will start by learning to model simple robot parts and before long you will graduate to creating more complex parts and multi-view drawings. Along the way you will learn the fundamentals of parametric modeling through the use of geometric constraints and relationships. You will also become familiar with many of SOLIDWORKS powerful tools and commands that enable you to easily construct complex features in your models. Also included is coverage of gears, gear trains and spur gear creation using SolidWorks. This book continues by examining the different mechanisms commonly used in walking robots. You will learn the basic types of planar four-bar linkages commonly used in mechanical designs and how to use the GeoGebra Dynamic Geometry software to simulate and analyze 2D linkages. Using the knowledge you gained about linkages and mechanism, you will learn how to modify your robot and change its behavior by modifying or creating new parts. In the final chapter of this book you learn how to combine all the robot parts into assemblies and then run motion analysis. You will finish off your project by creating 3D animations of your robot in action. There are many books that show you how to perform individual tasks with SOLIDWORKS, but this book takes you through an entire project and shows you the complete engineering process. By the end of this book you will have modeled and assembled nearly all the parts that make up the TAMIYA Mechanical Tiger and can start building your own robot.
Download or read book Autodesk Fusion 360 Animation and Similation User Guide written by Serdar Hakan DÜZGÖREN and published by Serdar Hakan DÜZGÖREN. This book was released on with total page 431 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Animation overview Use the Animation workspace to create exploded views and to animate parts and assemblies. Animations can be used to evaluate and communicate design functionality and to illustrate assembly or repair operations. Storyboards A storyboard is a collection of views and actions along a timeline. A single storyboard represents one animation. Use multiple storyboards to create a collection of animations. You can edit the default storyboard names to display meaningful titles. The storyboard duration is the total running time of the actions on that storyboard. Actions An action is a visual representation of a component transforming during a point in time. Add actions to the timeline on a storyboard to create an animation. You can adjust the duration and placement of each action on the timeline. When the playhead is on the timeline at a positive point in time, actions are captured and can be edited. The timeline displays all actions included in the storyboard. When the playhead is at Time 0 or in the Scratch Zone (the empty zone to the left of the timeline), actions are not being recorded, but the transforms performed are honored. This is especially useful for setting up a scene in preparation for the animation.
Download or read book Advances in Fracture Research written by B.L. Karihaloo and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 661 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fracture is a major cause of failure in metallic and non-metallic materials and structures. An understanding of the micro- and macro- mechanisms of fracture enables materials scientists to develop materials with high fracture resistance, which in turn helps engineers and designers to ensure the soundness and integrity of structures made from these materials. The International Congress on Fracture is held every four years and is an occasion to take stock of the major achievements in the broad field of fracture, to honour those who have made lasting contributions to this field, and to reflect on the future directions. ICF9 is published in six volumes covering the areas of:-- Failure Analysis, Remaining Life Assessment, Life Extension and Repair- Failure of Multiphase and Non-Metallic Materials- Fatigue of Metallic and Non-Metallic Materials and Structures- Theoretical and Computational Fracture Mechanics and New Directions- Testing and Characterization Methods, and Interfacial Fracture Mechanics- High Strain Rate Fracture and Impact Mechanics.
