Download or read book Are Entrepreneurship Research and Management a Remedy for Unemployment and Poverty in Botswana written by Nametsegang Tonkope and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2019-04-30 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2018 in the subject Economics - Job market economics, grade: 4,00, Atlantic International University (Atlantic International University), course: Business and Economics, language: English, abstract: This study looks at entrepreneurship, research and business management education which can be used as remedies for unemployment and poverty in Botswana. Research has shown a worldwide continual growth of entrepreneurial education in higher institutions Though some researchers paid more attention on entrepreneurship education, this has been based on teaching entrepreneurship as an embedded unit in different programmes, which does not fully equip learners with relevant skills into starting their own businesses. Entrepreneurship, research and business management programmes would benefit potential graduates’ entrepreneurs in their quest to engage in entrepreneurial activities. Like other developing countries, Botswana is striving to build a knowledge based. Quite a large number of graduates and those who were not privileged to go through tertiary education are unemployed which results in an increase on poverty cases. The situation is pitiable as universities, tertiary institutions and brigades are producing a large number of graduates annually and these graduates have no place to go. Research shows that, unemployment is a problem as it encourages poverty, hooliganism, robberies, house breakings, prostitution and political instability just to mention a few. One of the factors to consider for the business to succeed is training and education of staff. This study aims to find out if a standalone programme on entrepreneurship, including research and business management could be another means of encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation in the country, targeting those who are interested in entrepreneurship as offered as a post graduate programme.

Book Exploration of Experiences and Perceptions of Three Botswana Basic Education Stakeholders on Employment and Unemployment of Graduates of Basic Education

Download or read book Exploration of Experiences and Perceptions of Three Botswana Basic Education Stakeholders on Employment and Unemployment of Graduates of Basic Education written by Christopher Tidimane and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study used a phenomenological approach to explore the lived experiences of three groups of stakeholders of the Botswana basic education program related to the employment and unemployment of graduates of basic education. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 21 participants from three groups of stakeholders, graduates of basic education, teachers and employers. All the participants were in agreement that unemployment of graduates of basic education is a serious problem that requires a combined effort from three basic education stakeholders. They were all of the view that these graduates lacked the necessary grounding in basic skills required by the world of work, which they should have acquired through the basic education program. The three groups of stakeholders were also of the view that the solution for unemployment of graduates of basic education is in the hands of the three stakeholder groups working together and coming up with a solution. Stakeholder consultation, a labor market oriented curriculum and a combined effort in the development and preparation of basic education students seems to be the preferred solution to the problem of graduates of basic education unemployment as seen by the stakeholders.

Book Promoting Entrepreneurship to Reduce Graduate Unemployment

Download or read book Promoting Entrepreneurship to Reduce Graduate Unemployment written by Katono, Isaac Wasswa and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2022-04-01 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on recognition, evaluation, and exploitation of opportunities, entrepreneurship is a process that stimulates economic growth, provides us with new products and services, and serves as a solution to low unemployment rates. Hence, many governments encourage their citizens to embrace entrepreneurship as a strategy to mitigate unemployment, particularly youth and graduate unemployment. While studies show that entrepreneurship education has yielded positive results in Western countries, in other parts of the world it seems that most students still prefer to seek paid employment in their career of choice. Promoting Entrepreneurship to Reduce Graduate Unemployment seeks to expand understanding of the barriers that face graduates in becoming entrepreneurs in various countries, examining the role of educational institutions in promoting graduate entrepreneurship and evaluating governments as well as other schemes that promote graduate entrepreneurship. Although it will not be a panacea for all the obstacles that impede graduate entrepreneurship, it is hoped that this book will illuminate the entrepreneurship career path, serve as a platform for further diagnosis for reducing graduate unemployment, and highlight areas in need of further research. Covering topics such as entrepreneurial self-efficacy, career choice, and educated unemployment, it serves as a dynamic resource for educators, educational administration and faculty, government institutions, graduate students, student organizations, professionals, researchers, and academicians.
