Book Prince2 for Beginners For Certification and Study Guide for Project Management

Download or read book Prince2 for Beginners For Certification and Study Guide for Project Management written by Paul Holdbrook and published by AP Publishing. This book was released on 2016-04-26 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) is a widely used method for managing projects, particularly in the United Kingdom as well as in other countries. I wrote this book to develop the reader’s working knowledge of all aspects of PRINCE2, with the goal of providing a truly useful self-study manual for the PRINCE2 Foundation qualification. The book is based on the most recent revisions to the method made in 2009, so it's as current as any other resource on the market today. I have written this guide as an efficient self-study manual that presents what you need to grasp the fundamentals of PRINCE2 and understand it as a logical system. It is specifically aimed at readers who are studying for the Foundation qualification and want to get the most out of their study time. Although anything in this book can appear on the examination, certain parts of the method show up repeatedly, so at the end of the chapter you will find a list of the concepts you should review more intensively, along with study tips and tricks. In the second part of the book you will find 75 sample test questions, followed by a separate section giving the answers and which element of the method each question is taken from. This way, you can focus on a particular area of PRINCE2 where you need to do more work.

Download or read book PRINCE2 in a Nutshell written by Antony della Porta and published by The Sustainable PM. This book was released on with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Welcome to this 1st Edition of PRINCE2® in a Nutshell which aims to provide a reasonable, though high-level, view of going through a project using this approach. This book is more about HOW the PRINCE2® framework is used through a project timeframe (lifecycle), so using the terminology, to help provide a better understanding on how each part relates to a project. It has been written with an “informal” theme, which reflects the same as you will find my delivery in the videos, that accompany this book, and delivery on the classroom Projects are a fact of life and are all, in reality, Business projects. There is some money (budget) involved, for certain there are people, and there is a change being sought. A Beneficial one usually! The business is keen to see that the investment is, and continues to be, realistic throughout the project. This is Governance This book has been written to provide a guidance, an overview, on how PRINCE2® works in helping us deliver change through projects by looking at the Why, What and How PRINCE2® helps us run successful projects, (deliver the beneficial change), successfully, (proper Governance based on “Informed Decisions”), in delivering that beneficial change the business needs. Even though written primarily to give a overview of PRINCE2®, many of the topics are covered in more detail by videos on the YouTube channel, The SPM ‘The Sustainable PM”, that cover specific Themes like the Business Case or the Organization or a specific Process such as Controlling a Stage or Managing Product Delivery. Other videos discuss Risk, Issues, Scope and Documents and many others. These videos can be watched at various parts in the book where you find a “clickable” text or image that will take you to the relevant video for that topic. PRINCE2® is a very solid framework/guidance. How much is needed depends on the project being run with it and which part of the project. There is always an amount of “agility” required when it comes to ensuring that a project keeps on track - and by this is meant that it has the best opportunity to deliver what the business needs to be delivered to achieve the “Benefit” it instigated the project to deliver, and PRINCE2® is “agile” enabled! It’s a “mindset” (in the head) how one interprets it to use it. This book takes the same “step-by-step” process we should take to run a project, because really at the end of the day that’s what the life-cycle is helping us do and follows the same approach I use in the classroom and the videos. I have found this to be a very effective approach for giving my students the best opportunity to pass the exams and gain the accreditation they seek. These exams are Foundation and Practitioner and by following the video and the material contained in my Lifecycle Video and this book, in as much as they take you through a generic project with a PRINCE2® approach, it is hoped you will be a better position to pass as a result of a greater understanding (which helps for exams) on how it works for managing successful projects. It’s giving a guidance and a framework to help us step through so we don’t get ahead of ourselves, not trying to run before we can even crawl, never mind walk. In doing so allows those building/developing/providing the project’s output/solution, time to make sure it is built right and for the business to provide input to that end and, more importantly, Governance to the overall project. It’s about allowing the person who owns the project, in this approach the Project Executive, or even at corporate level, to make decisions about going forward from here onwards. The three key words in PRINCE2® are Desirable, Viable and Achievable.

Book Prince2 for Beginners

Download or read book Prince2 for Beginners written by Andy Webb and published by . This book was released on 2014-08-19 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) Exam is a de facto process-based project management method used widely throughout the United Kingdom and internationally, as well. This book is designed to help you learn more about the examination process, including test questions, so you can prepare for and pass it to earn your PRINCE2 certification. Since I first started work in 2005 at a small West Coast tech startup company, I've made a practice of studying project management systems. Too often, I think, team members get caught up in the micro level of doing their individual tasks and fail to see the big picture. PRINCE2 is a powerful tool for ensuring that all the parts of the project development process work together to produce a successful result. The PRINCE2 exam is challenging, but with hard work and confidence, you can master it. I hope this book will make your exam study experience a rewarding endeavor, and that it leads to a successful result on the PRINCE2 examination. – Andy Webb
