From the report of Dr. Aigner of his European tour, it appears that, doubt less from our vast emigration, the dispensaries of New York are the largest in the world.* The writer pro poses to discuss the general treatment of pleurisy, and the use of croton-oil and the tincture of iodine as substitutes for fly-blisters, in this lowly field. His ex perience was mainly during several years of service as physician to the class Of Diseases of the Chest and Throat, in the New York and Eastern Dispensaries. These investigations were commenced more than twenty years since. They were principally in the first of the above institutions, which was the most vener able and extensive. Many here will remember a quaint, Old brick building that then stood on the site of the present elegant edifice in Centre street, near the Five Points.
