Book Policy options for improved integration of domestic timber markets under the voluntary partnership agreement VPA regime in Gabon

Download or read book Policy options for improved integration of domestic timber markets under the voluntary partnership agreement VPA regime in Gabon written by Guillaume Lescuyer and published by CIFOR. This book was released on 2014-10-09 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gabon officially entered into VPA negotiations in September 2010. The initial engagement resulted in agreement on a road map and the production of a legality matrix. However, the latter has not yet been validated and negotiations were resumed only recently. It is difficult to predict the final coverage of the VPA, but available information seems to indicate that it will also cover the domestic market. The domestic timber market has undergone a drastic transformation in recent years. Pro-Formal results indicate that the domestic consumption of artisanal sawn wood decreased by almost half in 2008–2012, and that more timber than in the past is now supplied by industrial scraps, as industrial production for the national market increased during the same period. These trends are largely explained by the financial crisis, a log export ban effective as of 2010 that forced industrial companies to process timber locally, and increased control and enforcement efforts.

Book Integration of Methods Improvement and Measurement into Industrial Engineering Functions

Download or read book Integration of Methods Improvement and Measurement into Industrial Engineering Functions written by Gerald J. Watson Jr. and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-11-23 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book emphasizes the need to ask critical questions before implementing tools and their integration into the many applications in which industrial engineers work. This use of critical thinking will minimize the likelihood of mistakes that can result in the wasting of finite resources and the possible loss of life. Included in this book are examples, both successful and unsuccessful, for each of the functions on which industrial engineers focus. These examples include the critical questions that were asked that resulted in success and those questions that were not asked that resulted in failure. Integration of Methods Improvement and Measurement into Industrial Engineering Functions is applicable to students, new graduates, and practitioners in the areas of industrial engineering, human factors, materials processing, quality control, asset management, production control, and supply chain management, as well as those concerned with safety issues.

Book Financial Integration in the European Monetary Union

Download or read book Financial Integration in the European Monetary Union written by Sławomir Ireneusz Bukowski and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-11-21 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces readers to the world of international financial markets and their integration on a global and regional scale. The author presents the theoretical and practical issues concerning the processes of financial market integration, with a particular focus on the monetary union. The empirical research results are based on econometric modeling, thus simplifying them for a non-specialist audience, who can instead concentrate on the author’s conclusions, which comprise the results of these complicated research methods. The author outlines the role and functions of financial markets in the economy, in particular the relationship between financial intermediaries and financial markets and tackles the question of integration of new EU member countries’ financial markets within the eurozone. The integration of financial markets in an international context is inevitable, and the author argues that we must learn how to benefit from it from in terms of economic growth. This book will be a valuable resource for students of economics and finance, particularly those studying financial management and international business and finance, as well as professionals in these fields. Further, this book will be of interest to anyone looking to discover more about the problems of globalization and the integration of financial markets into the modern economy.

Book Integration Requirements for Immigrants in Europe

Download or read book Integration Requirements for Immigrants in Europe written by Tamar de Waal and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2021-06-17 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on legal-philosophical research, and informed by insights gleaned from empirical case studies, this book sets out three central claims about integration requirements as conditions for attaining increased rights (ie family migration, permanent residency and citizenship) in Europe: (1) That the recent proliferation of these (mandatory) integration requirements is rooted in a shift towards 'individualised' conceptions of integration. (2) That this shift is counterproductive as it creates barriers to participation and inclusion for newcomers (who will most likely permanently settle); and is normatively problematic insofar as it produces status hierarchies between native-born and immigrant citizens. (3) That the remedy for this situation is a firewall that disconnects integration policy from access to rights. The book draws on perspectives on immigrant integration in multiple EU Member States and includes legal and political reactions to the refugee/migrant crisis.

Book Patient Focused Network Integration in BioPharma

Download or read book Patient Focused Network Integration in BioPharma written by Robert Handfield and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-08 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The biopharmaceutical industry as we know it today is going through a massive upheaval as a result of the uncertainty of healthcare reform and increasing regulatory pricing pressure. A wake-up call to all sectors of the healthcare value chain, Patient-Focused Network Integration in BioPharma: Strategic Imperatives for the Years Ahead explores patient-focused network integration as quite possibly the only way for organizational evolution to occur. The book discusses how to align enterprises with the patient at the center. It details the historical context of the biopharmaceutical value chain and the current set of challenges facing the industry, and then details the author’s unique and sustainable agenda for change. The book traces the critical but often ignored relationships between hospitals, insurance companies, biopharma manufacturers, government regulators, and clinical scientists. For too long, these parties have been operating in a void, without recognizing the interconnectedness of their objectives, even though these objectives are often competing and misaligned. This book points out the gaps that exist and develops a set of recommendations regarding disease treatments, clinical development of new products, and collaboration between these players that can result in a sustainable solution to the healthcare mess. Each chapter can be viewed as an independent essay, in that it deals with a specific dimension of the healthcare value chain. However, together they provide an integrated discussion on how to begin the task of creating an integrated value chain network for healthcare. The book begins with the patient, and then works its way back down the value chain, all the way to the drug development and clinical trials stage of the value chain. The common thread throughout the chapters is the emphasis on collaboration, strategic alignment, and a focus on delivering value to the end patient. Very simply, all parties in the healthcare value chain network must align their strategic planning to derive innovation solutions. It is only through true collaboration and aligned thinking that the parties in the drug development, distribution, insurance payors, and hospital provider network can deal with the incredible complexity and massive challenges that face the industry. The book provides a compelling maturity model that enables readers to gauge the level of network integration their enterprise is at today, and where they need to move in the future.
