Download or read book Calculation of Two dimensional Inlet Flow Fields by an Implicit Method Including Viscous Effects written by Sedat Biringen and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inlet flow fields for airbreathing missiles are calculated by the adaptation of a two dimensional computational method developed for the flow around airfoils. A supersonic free stream is assumed to allow the forebody calculation to be uncoupled from the inlet calculation. The inlet calculation employs an implicit, time marching finite difference procedure to solve the thin layer Navier-Stokes equations formulated in body fitted coordinates. The mathematical formulation of the problem and the solution algorithm are given. Numerical stability and accuracy as well as the initial and boundary conditions used are discussed. Instructions for program use and operation along with the overall program logic are also given.

Download or read book Calculation of Two Dimensional Inlet Flow Fields in a Supersonic Free Stream by an Implicit Marching Code with Nonorthogonal Mesh Generation written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-25 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An implicit, shock-capturing finite-difference code which is used to calculate two-dimensional inlet flow fields in a supersonic free stream is explained. The Euler equations are subjected to general nonorthogonal transformation and a body-fitted coordinate system is employed. The mathematical formulation of the problem is given along with the numerical algorithm. Initial and boundary conditions, numerical stability, program limitations, and accuracy is discussed. An overall program logic as well as instructions for program use and operation are also furnished. Biringen, S. H. and Mcmillan, O. J. Unspecified Center NASA-CR-3222, NEAR-TR-193 NAS1-15305

Book Computer Program for Calculating Flow Fields in Supersonic Inlets

Download or read book Computer Program for Calculating Flow Fields in Supersonic Inlets written by Virginia L. Sorensen and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Fortran IV computer program for calculating the flow fields in three-dimensional axisymmetric or two-dimensional inlets has been written. The program has been written to handle inlets designed with smooth compression surfaces and for which the attached bow shock falls outside the cowl lip. The method of characteristics has been used to calculate a uniform field of points and at each of these points the total pressure, Mach number, local flow angle, and static pressure ratio are printed. The numerical procedures used are fully described and a test case is presented.
