  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 148 pages

Download or read book Cognitive Styles written by Robert M. Hashway and published by Em Texts. This book was released on 1992 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book traces the process of maturing individuals' evolution from serial learners to multimodality assimilators of information, constructs and concepts. The text stresses the need for all social scientists to be aware of the research concerning cognitive style, and seeks to under-score the need to focus curriculum as well as instruction on the learning process, not teaching techniques. Helpful not only to current practitioners and researchers but also a source of readings for beginning courses in education and psychology.

Book Student Learning Styles and Brain Behavior

Book excerpt: Cosponsored by St. John's University (New York) and the Learning Styles Network of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), the conference was designed to bring together leading figures in the fields of student learning styles and brain behavior research. Thirty-two papers from the conference are collected in this volume, divided into four sections. Part 1 presents eight papers reporting on attempts to implement learning styles analysis and diagnostic-prescriptive education in schools and classrooms. Among the topics covered are cognitive style mapping, tactual learners, and foreign language learning. Part 2 comprises 16 papers on student learning style assessment models, or instrumentation, and related research. Included are discussions of the group embedded figures test, cognitive profiles, learning style scales, personality structures, reading styles, and learning styles at kindergarten and university as well as secondary school levels. The seven papers in part 3 explore developments in brain behavior research and applications, including the whole brain, the left hemisphere, and nonverbal learning styles. The single article in part 4 suggests some next steps. Three appendices provide the NASSP student learning styles model, an annotated bibliography of selected learning styles instrumentation, and information about the NASSP Learning Styles Network. Book Cognitive Styles and Learning Strategies

Download or read book Cognitive Styles and Learning Strategies written by Richard Riding and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-10-23 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First Published in 1998. This book deals with what may well turn out to be the missing element in the study of individual differences - cognitive style. Its intention is to distinguish between, and integrate, the research attempts, particularly over the past half century, to make sense of style differences. In several respects this book is unique in that it contains material that is not covered in any other and draws together the various aspects of psychology relevant to the study of individual differences. It is in this sense both a textbook and a source of reference for many professionals working in a range of contexts. The content of the book has relevance for a wide audience.
