Book excerpt: In today's world physical education is essential. Man can live healthy and better life only by doing physical exercise. Today new and new diseases are emerging and have made big harm to man's body. Man's life has become dependent on medicines. We know that healthy mind lies in healthy body. Now a day's video games and computer games have taken the place of our traditional games. Man does not have time to play indoor or outdoor games in the modern age of technology. Sport is important for man's all round development and for living healthy life. Today very fast changes are seen in the field of physical education. Yoga in Daily Life is a system of practice consisting of eight levels of development in the areas of physical, mental, social and spiritual health. When the body is physically healthy, the mind is clear, focused and stress is under control. The main goals of "Yoga in Daily Life" are Physical Health, Mental Health, Social Health, Spiritual Health, Self-Realization or realization of the Divine within us. Physical education plays a part in the lives of almost all children and young people's education around the world. If the physical education experiences of those young people are to be positive and effective, then we need to know something about how it is taught, who is teaching it, what is being taught and how it can be improved. Physical Education is associated with health and wellbeing, as a primary site for student engagement in the development of knowledge and understanding of issues related to health. Consequently, researchers within the Physical Education Research Forum aim to better understand this position for Physical Education and what it means for teaching, learning and student experience. Importantly, group members also aim to challenge this position for Physical Education, question the extent to which PE and PE teachers should be responsible for developing students' physical health, and the extent to which current practice in PE can improve children and young people's social, emotional and mental health. Research in the field of Physical Education is very essence now days. Keeping the above in mind and there was also a long demand of the students of B.P.Ed from Indian universities to have a combined Semester wise book which will certainly fulfil their long requirements. This book will also serve as primary handy book for the B.P.Ed 4th Semester students of Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University and all other Physical Education Students. This book consisting of four parts: Part One deals with Measurement and Evaluation in Physical Education, Part Two deals with Yoga Education, Part Three Deals with Research and Statistics in Physical Education and Part Four deals with Sports Management and each part contains four chapters. An honest attempt has been made to provide simple and comprehension manuscripts to cater the needs of the students. This book was released on 2013-11-13 with total page 503 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physical inactivity is a key determinant of health across the lifespan. A lack of activity increases the risk of heart disease, colon and breast cancer, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, osteoporosis, anxiety and depression and others diseases. Emerging literature has suggested that in terms of mortality, the global population health burden of physical inactivity approaches that of cigarette smoking. The prevalence and substantial disease risk associated with physical inactivity has been described as a pandemic. The prevalence, health impact, and evidence of changeability all have resulted in calls for action to increase physical activity across the lifespan. In response to the need to find ways to make physical activity a health priority for youth, the Institute of Medicine's Committee on Physical Activity and Physical Education in the School Environment was formed. Its purpose was to review the current status of physical activity and physical education in the school environment, including before, during, and after school, and examine the influences of physical activity and physical education on the short and long term physical, cognitive and brain, and psychosocial health and development of children and adolescents. Educating the Student Body makes recommendations about approaches for strengthening and improving programs and policies for physical activity and physical education in the school environment. This report lays out a set of guiding principles to guide its work on these tasks. These included: recognizing the benefits of instilling life-long physical activity habits in children; the value of using systems thinking in improving physical activity and physical education in the school environment; the recognition of current disparities in opportunities and the need to achieve equity in physical activity and physical education; the importance of considering all types of school environments; the need to take into consideration the diversity of students as recommendations are developed. This report will be of interest to local and national policymakers, school officials, teachers, and the education community, researchers, professional organizations, and parents interested in physical activity, physical education, and health for school-aged children and adolescents.

Book Yoga The Ancient Physical Education

Download or read book Yoga The Ancient Physical Education written by Dr. A. Sridharan and published by Academic Guru Publishing House. This book was released on 2023-07-26 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everyone has the right to a healthy life. However, this privilege is conditional on personal, societal, and ecological variables. We may improve our immune system and our sense of self so that we are less affected by other illnesses and can attain excellent health, in addition to the role that environmental or social variables play. The idea of health is optimistic. By "good health," we don't only mean the absence of sickness, but also a state of physical and mental vitality, strength, and the ability to quickly and readily develop resistance to certain pathogens. Among the most effective non-pharmaceutical therapeutic modalities is yoga. It has its own idea of health, which has been studied and published in scientific literature. As a way of life, yoga may help us stay physically and mentally fit. If yoga were taught in schools, it may encourage students to adopt a more balanced approach to their health. The "postures" are the positions we maintain for the purpose of strengthening various sections of the body; they include coordinating breath with movement. Back, neck, and shoulder muscles, deep abdominal muscles, hip and buttock muscles, and even ankles, foot, wrists, and hands are all targeted. When practiced regularly, yoga has the potential to correct any inconsistencies in muscle growth and improve overall bodily function. Being flexible and supple helps keep the body's joints lubricated, which reduces the risk of sports-related injuries. Connective tissue becomes more rigid as we age, but yoga may help loosen adhesions caused by past injuries and overtraining to restore joint mobility and a youthful stance.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 1.0 INTRODUCTION: “Education is not an amount of information that is put in your mind and runs right there undigested all your life. The use of education is to find out how to solve the problems of life.”– Swami Vivekananda. We live in a period of exceptionally rapid change in all sectors of our life. Education as a subsystem of society cannot escape the impact of this change. So, we must reflect to consider the innovative approaches to meet the challenges of future. This is both inevitable and essential as societies are faced with new problems. Educations as a potent factor in this regard must not only study and understand these but must of necessity reflect them adequately in its plans and programmes. In today s globalized world life is become very fast, due to technological evolution life is become materialistic and that has created many global challenges. On the other hand, every human being is a part of the all-pervading Divine being which is the originator of the entire creation. We all are one and also of the same origin. But there are people who have all the material comforts as their command, but are unhappy and miserable. Are happiness and peace to be found in the enjoyment of luxuries and comforts of life? The answer is No because the real happiness lies in the physical, mental and spiritual health of the people. According to Dash & Dash (2000) The World Health Organization (WHO) defines “Health as a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” It is also said that sound mind resides in the sound body. So, to attain health related fitness there is need to adopt yogic way of life which is inherited by us from our Rishis and Munis , who struggle centuries after centuries and bestowed upon our culture the great science of yoga. According to Pilkington et. al. (2005) Yoga is one of the many different techniques for achieving relaxation. Yoga has its origin in ancient India and in its original form consisted as a system of spiritual, moral and physical practices. The most central and common aspects of yoga practice today are different bodily postures (Asanas) and breathing exercises (Pranayamas) that aim to focus the mind, achieve relaxation and increase wellness. Though importance of mental health has always been in existence since time immemorial. Yoga is the ancient science of India, is a conscious process for gaining mastery over mind. Yoga harmonizes our growth and balance, helps in total development. In this sense, yoga is a science of holistic living and is synonymous with basic or real education.
