Book An Evaluation of Superresolution Methods for Tactical Radio Direction Finding

Download or read book An Evaluation of Superresolution Methods for Tactical Radio Direction Finding written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 121 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report evaluates superresolution direction finding methods for land tactical narrowband very high frequency/ultrahigh frequency purposes. The DF methods are described and evaluated in depth using a common theoretical framework beginning with classical methods and ending with modern day eigenanalysis based methods. Based on this analysis, superresolution methods can be described in terms of a five step procedure where each step has a unique purpose the estimation process. Different methods vary according to the operations performed at each step. This is useful in analyzing and comparing the theoretical performance of various DF methods under the same conditions. The results from simulations are also included to support the theoretical evaluations.

Book Radio Direction Finding and Superresolution

Download or read book Radio Direction Finding and Superresolution written by P. J. D. Gething and published by Institution of Engineering & Technology. This book was released on 1991 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Enlarged and revised second edition. Modern direction finders, capable of measuring elevation angles as well as azimuth angles on the components of multi-ray wavefields, have become powerful tools for research in ionospheric physics and HF radio propagation. The complexity of the problem of resolving closely-spaced rays requires the combined use of wide aperture antenna arrays, multichannel receiving systems and sophisticated digital processing techniques.

Book Methods for Direction Finding of Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Signals

Download or read book Methods for Direction Finding of Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Signals written by Magnus Finne and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 1996 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of spread-spectrum signals has increased dramatically in military radio communications. This report locates methods for direction-finding direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS/SS) signals; digital methods are of special interest. A literature survey was conducted to see if there are any known methods. Investigated if a DS/SS detection method using a square-law detector can be extended to direction-finding. By use of computer simulations, show the performance of the methods found. Benefits and problems are also discussed.

Book An Evaluation of the Watson Watt And Butler Matrix Approaches For Direction Finding

Download or read book An Evaluation of the Watson Watt And Butler Matrix Approaches For Direction Finding written by William J. Read and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents an evaluation of the Watson-Watt and Butler matrix approaches for tactical wideband radio direction finding applications. The evaluation was carried out using theoretical derivations & computer simulations, focussing on the effects of various error mechanisms including internal noise, terrestrial & isotropic noise, co-channel interference, and multipath. The theoretical evaluations consider both four- and eight-element circular antenna arrays. A maximum likelihood (ML) approach was also derived and evaluated for comparative purposes to determine the accuracy trade-off between using an N-channel approach versus the three- channel Watson-Watt approach and the two-channel Butler matrix approach.
