Download or read book A Text Book of Mechanical Drawing and Elementary Machine Design written by John S. Reid and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-12 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Text-Book of Mechanical Drawing and Elementary Machine Design To properly prepare students for advanced machine design it has been found necessary to introduce a course designed to apply the principles of mechanical drawing to the solution of practical problems in machine construction and to familiarize the student with the arrangement and proportions of the most important machines and their details recognized by competent engineers to be the best practice of the present time. It is essential to intelligent study and an economical expenditure of time and labor that, before attempting to design a new machine or improve an old one, the student should post himself with all possible information concerning what has already been done in the same direction. To this end the present work has been prepared. In it we have attempted to show what is the best United States practice in the design and construction of various machines and details of machines, using rules and formulas whenever feasible in working out practical problems. In addition to this will be found the latest and most approved drafting-room methods in use in this country, without which most drawings would be practically useless. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book covers fundamental concepts, description, terminology, force analysis and methods of analysis and design of various machine elements like Curved Beams, Springs, Spur, Helical, Bevel and Worm Gears, Clutches, Brakes, Belts, Ropes, Chains, Ball Bearings and Journal Bearings. The emphasis in treating the machine elements is on the methods and procedures that give the student enough competence in applying these methods and procedures to mechanical components in general. This book offers the students to learn to use the best available design knowledge together with empirical information, logical judgment, and often a degree of ingenuity in mechanical engineering design. Following are the salient features of the book: " Compatible with the Machine Design Data Books (of same publisher and other famous books) " Step by step procedure for design of machine elements " Large and variety of problems solved " Thought provoking exercise problems " The example design problems and solution techniques are spelled out in detail " Thorough and in depth treatment of design of the requisite machine elements " Balance between analysis and design " Emphasis on the materials, properties and analysis of the machine elements " Selection of Material and factor of safety are given for each machine element " All the illustrations are done with the help of suitable diagrams " As per Indian Standards.

Book Elements of Machine Design

Download or read book Elements of Machine Design written by Henry L. Nachman and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-07-23 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Elements of Machine Design This little volume is intended primarily as a class-room text book on the subject of elementary machine design. It is the result of the authors experience, extending over more than fifteen years, both in practical design and in teaching of this subject. The pre-requisites on the part of the student are thorough courses in machine drawing and elementary mechanics. Based on the brief outline of the strength of materials given in Chapter I the author has attempted to develop the equations for the design of the more common machine elements. This has generally been done very concisely and frequently only an outline of the deduction has been given. Empirical formulae and rule of thumb methods, so much used in elementary texts on this subject, have been avoided as far as possible. There are many factors which in practice affect the design of machine parts that cannot be discussed profitably in the class-room; for instance, cost of construction, capacity of shop machinery, etc. For this reason the teacher must be content if the student acquires the power to analyze the forces and the resultant stresses in machine parts and to apply the proper equations for their design. The illustrations have been carefully chosen to show typical constructions rather than a great variety which tend to confuse the inexperienced student. The standard text books as well as the American and European technical press have been freely consulted in the preparation of the manuscript. Book Machine Design Elements and Assemblies

Download or read book Machine Design Elements and Assemblies written by Michael B. Spektor and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The academic course of Machine Design Elements and Assemblies (a.k.a. "Machine Design," "Mechanical Engineering Design," etc.) is based on the fundamentals of several different core disciplines, and should prepare students to meet challenges associated with solving real-life mechanical engineering design problems commonly found in industry. Other works focus primarily on verifying calculations of existing machine elements in isolation, while this textbook goes beyond and includes the design calculations necessary for determining the specifications of elements for new assemblies, and accounting for the interaction between them. Machine Design Elements and Assemblies addresses the design considerations associated with the functionality of a full assembly. Most chapters end with a design project that gets progressively more complex. Numerous reviews of prerequisite materials are purposely not included in this title, resulting in a more concise, more practical, and far less expensive product for students, engineers, and professors.Rounding out this incredible package are 120 problems and answers that can be assigned as homework. And nearly 400 additional problems are available on the book's affiliated website, www.machinedesignea.com.
