Book An Assessment of Job Satisfaction of Combat Arms Personnel During REALTRAIN Training

Download or read book An Assessment of Job Satisfaction of Combat Arms Personnel During REALTRAIN Training written by and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study isolated dimensions of job satisfaction and determined the relationship between job satisfaction and tactical performance in a REALTRAIN versus conventional tactical training environment. A job satisfaction questionnaire was administered before and after training to 187 male soldiers assigned to the 4th Infantry Division at fort Carson, Colorado. The design was the pretest-posttest control group design with matched assignment to either REALTRAIN or conventional training. Factor analysis on 24 questionnaire items indicated four dimensions of job satisfaction: Unit Cohesiveness, Training Expectations, Work Satisfaction, and Career Intentions. In addition, a Leadership scale was constructed from four questionnaire items. Multivariate analysis of covariance and subsequent univariate analyses indicated that REALTRAIN was significantly better than conventional training on Unit Cohesiveness and Training Expectations, whereas conventional training was significantly better than REALTRAIN on Work Satisfaction and Career Intentions. In addition, univariate analysis of covariance indicated that type of training did not significantly affect Leadership.

Book Effects of Combat Simulation on the Work related Motivation satisfaction of Participants

Download or read book Effects of Combat Simulation on the Work related Motivation satisfaction of Participants written by Robert H. Sulzen and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "To improve both the combat readiness of Army units and the psychological rewards derived from training, the Army Research Institute has developed a group of techniques for simulating battlefield conditions. These techniques are known collectively as Engagement Simulation (ES). The squad and platoon level application of ES is referred to a REALTRAIN. REALTRAIN can be distinguished from more conventional training along a number of dimensions, including the degree of operating constraints in the exercises, type of casualty assessment, nature of evaluative feedback, and sequence of training procedures. A paper-and-pencil instrument was constructed that measured six different dimensions of job-related motivation and satisfaction. Results indicated that along four of the motivation/satisfaction dimensions (Attitude Toward the Exercises, Military Work Role, Unit Cohesiveness, and Leader Improvement), responses were more positive following participation in REALTRAIN than before participation. In the remaining two dimensions, there was no change in the "before" and "after" measures of motivation/satisfaction. However, for the conventional exercises, there was no change in the before and after responses of participants along five of the dimensions. Along the remaining one, there was a decline in the satisfaction level in the conventional training."--Abstract.

Book Impact of REALTRAIN and Conventional Combined Arms Exercises on Participant Morale

Download or read book Impact of REALTRAIN and Conventional Combined Arms Exercises on Participant Morale written by Paul R. Bleda and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This research examined the immediate impact on the morale of combat units stationed in Germany of two types of combined arms exercises. Armor and infantry personnel undergoing 1 week of either platoon-level REALTRAIN (n = 22 platoons) or conventional field exercises within a battalion Army Training and Evaluation Program (ARTEP) (N = 9 companies) were administered an instrument designed to assess nine specific morale components. These components reflected respondents' motivation before and satisfaction after the exercises, as well as their general job satisfaction and unit cohesiveness in the Army. The results indicated that higher levels of exercise-specific satisfaction were evidenced after completion of REALTRAIN than expected before, whereas the reverse was found for more conventional exercises. A similar pattern of findings emerged for certain job-satisfaction dimensions, but the pattern was not as pronounced as that related to the exercises. In sum, REALTRAIN had a significant positive impact on six (p less than .05) of the nine morale components and no effect on three, while the conventional exercises had a positive influence on only one component and a negative effect on six (p less than .10). Book Initial Validation of Realtrain with Army Combat Units in Europe

Download or read book Initial Validation of Realtrain with Army Combat Units in Europe written by Robert T. Root and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report documents the results of an analysis of data collected during the implementation of a new method for small unit tactical training, known as REALTRAIN. The study was designed to measure the training effectiveness of the REALTRAIN method; to identify needs to refine REALTRAIN training techniques; and to assess the methodology used for unit evaluation. REALTRAIN exercises employ combat techniques to simulate weapons effects and weapons signatures. The REALTRAIN method provides a working context for the learning of tactical skills by armor, infantry, and anti-armor personnel in a combined arms environment.
