Though the information may surprise my readers it would be a comparatively easy task to compile a dozen similar volumes, and then only have touched the fringe of the mantle which clothes the memory of the greatest poet the world has ever known - the divine, the gentle, the immortal Shakespeare. Many of the verses in this volume have been specially composed for insertion herein, others have 'been sent in response to my request for Poems on Shakespeare' in that incomparable and eagerly-welcomed weekly, Notes and Queries, to the editor of which my cordial thanks are due.
