Book An Analysis of Transonic Jet Flapped Airfoils with the Inclusion of Viscous Effects

Download or read book An Analysis of Transonic Jet Flapped Airfoils with the Inclusion of Viscous Effects written by S. Elzweig and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The inviscid and viscous effects associated with a jet-flapped airfoil in the transonic regime are investigated. Integral methods are used for the description of the viscous portions of the flow and a relaxation method is used for the inviscid portions. The viscous-inviscid coupling is delineated. Their coupling procedures along the wing and the jet acknowledge the importance and magnitude of the viscous effects on pressure distribution and directly incorporate the displacement effect on the wing and the effects of jet mixing into the boundary conditions for the computation of the entire flow. Preliminary numerical results are presented to validate the solution. A computer program for a systematic exploitation of the complete analysis is discussed.

Book The Effects of Viscous Interaction on the Transonic Jet Flap

Download or read book The Effects of Viscous Interaction on the Transonic Jet Flap written by P. Baronti and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 43 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The inviscid and viscous effects associated with a jet-flapped airfoil in the transonic regime are investigated. The particular formulation developed employs integral methods for the description of the viscous portions of the flow (utilizing the turbulent kinetic energy equation) and a relaxation method for the inviscid portions. The viscous-inviscid coupling procedures along the wing and the jet acknowledge the importance and magnitude of the viscous effects on pressure distribution and directly incorporate the displacement effect on the wing and the effects of the jet mixing into the boundary conditions for the computation of the entire flow. Some numerical results are presented to validate the solution techniques that have been selected and to assess the importance of mass and momentum entrainment into the jet on jet flap effectiveness. Book Two dimensional Transonic Flow Past Airfoils

Download or read book Two dimensional Transonic Flow Past Airfoils written by Yung-Huai Kuo and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem of constructing solutions for transonic flow over symmetric airfoils is treated for simplification of the mapping of the incompressible flow is emphasized. In the case of a symmetric Joukowski airfoil without circulation the mapping is relatively simple, but the coefficients in the power series are difficult to evaluate. As a means of simplification an approximate flow is used which differs only slightly from the exact incompressible one when the thickness is small. Flow with circulation is also considered by the same method.

Book On Viscous and Wind Tunnel Wall Effects in Transonic Flows Over Airfoils

Download or read book On Viscous and Wind Tunnel Wall Effects in Transonic Flows Over Airfoils written by Robert E. Melnik and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An extensive correlation between wind-tunnel data and finite-difference solutions of the exact potential-flow equation was performed. Two procedures are compared, one using the Kutta condition and the other using the experimental lift coefficient to determine the circulation. The numerical calculations are used to extract viscous and wall interference effects from the data. The correlation results indicate that viscous effects on lift are greater than 30%, even for turbulent boundary layers and Reynolds numbers greater than 2 x 10 to the seventh power. It is shown that viscous effects can be almost completely accounted for in numerical calculations by adjusting the circulation to match the experimental lift. (Author).
