Download or read book An Analysis of Factors Associated with the Job Satisfaction of United States Air Force Commanders written by Vernon L. Eshbaugh and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study determines the variables associated with the job satisfaction of Air Force commanders. The source for the data is the Quality of Air Force Life Commander's Survey conducted in December of 1976. The survey responses were analyzed for 9 different groups: total sample, rated, non-rated, CONUS, overseas, less than ten years service, over ten years service, and with, and without command experience. The factors of most value in explaining the variation in job satisfaction are: (1) job challenge, (2) personal standing satisfaction, (3) desire for the commander's job, and (4) leadership/supervision satisfaction. Also of value, but to a lesser degree, were preparation for future responsibility, job freedom, and recognition.

Book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences

Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by W. H. Shafer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and dis seminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the ac tivity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all concerned if the printing and distribution of the volume were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 22 (thesis year 1977) a total of 10,658 theses titles from 28 Canadian and 227 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for theses titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. While Volume 22 reports theses submitted in 1977, on occasion, certain universities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

Book A Study of the Leader Attitudes of US Air Force Commanders

Download or read book A Study of the Leader Attitudes of US Air Force Commanders written by Stephen E. Bovich and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study analyzes the leadership attitudes of United States Air Force commanders. The source of the data is the Quality of Air Force Life Survey conducted in December 1976. The primary analytic technique used was factor analysis. Underlying dimensions of leader attitudes for the commanders were sought. Three underlying dimensions emerged from the factor analysis of the survey variables. Called TASK, Enforcement of Discipline (EOD), and RELATIONSHIPS, these three dimensions were measured and their behavior was analyzed relative to the demographic variables and several other variables in the survey. An attempt was made to determine the influence of the dimensions on subordinate job satisfaction and first termer career intent, but no relationship was discovered. The main conclusion of the analysis is that TASK, EOD, and RELATIONSHIPS reflect definite attitudes of Air Force commanders. However, organization climate is essential to the definition of each of the three dimensions. The dimensions do not represent unchanging orientations or approaches to leadership by the commanders. The three dimensions are seemingly unrelated to dimensions discovered by other researchers. (Author).

Book Factor analytic Reanalysis of Studies of Job Satisfaction and Morale

Download or read book Factor analytic Reanalysis of Studies of Job Satisfaction and Morale written by Edward E. Cureton and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is one of four papers reporting development of scales for measuring morale among Air Force personnel. Data from published reports of six previously developed scales were reanalyzed and the results compared with those for the scales developed in this project. Factor analyses show nearly all the scales with high loadings on the first centroid factor, indicating a large general factor, termed morale or general attitude tow the organization. The one consistent separate factor was Supervision. Variation of other factors from study to study is attributed in part to differences in attitude structuring among the various samples of workers, but in larger part to differences in the content and organization of the particular scales used. The report includes a discussion of special problems in factoring small matrices.

Book Job Satisfaction for Male and Female U S Air Force Officers

Download or read book Job Satisfaction for Male and Female U S Air Force Officers written by Espen Amundsen and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 71 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis investigated the relationship between job satisfaction and gender by examining factors considered to be determinants of job satisfaction among junior U.S. Air Force officers. The data used in this research were from the 1985 DoD Survey of Officers and Enlisted Personnel. Bivariate analysis, factor analysis and regression analysis were performed to determine the effect of gender on those factors considered to be determinants of job satisfaction. No difference in level of job satisfaction was found between male and female officers, but differences were found in the variables that explained job satisfaction for male and female officers. An understanding of job satisfaction and the relationship of gender to the factors that determine officers' job satisfaction may give military policymakers and leaders greater opportunities to affect job satisfaction and thereby affect job performance and career intention.

Book A Study of Job Satisfaction of Air Force Civilian Employees

Download or read book A Study of Job Satisfaction of Air Force Civilian Employees written by Phillip A. Branson (CAPT, USAF.) and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study analyzes the determinants of job satisfaction for United States Air Force civilian employees as reported by 16,751 respondents to a survey conducted by the Air Force Management Improvement Group (AFMIG) in the summer of 1975. The primary technique used is the Monitored Automatic Interaction Detection Multivariate (MAID-M) program. MAID-M is a computerized program which selects and builds up the smallest number of predictors which can explain the largest proportion of variance of the criterion variable. Analyses are made of the relationships between three categories of predictor variables and job satisfaction. The three categories of predictor variables are demographic characteristics, Air Force Quality of Life indicators and job related factors. The most important predictor variables found in each category are then combined and analyzed as predictors of civilian employee job satisfaction. The primary conclusion from the analysis is that the major determinants of job satisfaction for Air Force civilian employees are job related factors. The most significant factors found were as follows: job challenge, job freedom, satisfaction with personal growth; and job preparation for greater responsibility. (Author).

This book was released on 1990 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study analyzed the self-reported survey responses of 93 U.S. Air Force pilots concerning their perceptions of the command potential and job satisfaction characteristics of navigators. The first objective of this study was to compare the pilot responses with the results obtained from a previous Job Diagnostics Survey of Air Force navigators and Hackman and Oldham's normative data for professional workers. Differences in pilot attitudes were also compared with those of navigators based on the type of aircraft mission. The second objective was to compare responses based on the pilots' military rank and navigator supervisory experience. The third objective evaluated the pilot's opinion of the continued requirement for navigators in Air Force aircraft and of the ability of experienced navigators to perform as mission commanders. Keywords: Navigators, Job satisfaction, Pilots, Theses, Personnel management. (emk).

Book Quality of Air Force Life A Report on the Attitudes and Perceptions of Air Force Commanders

Download or read book Quality of Air Force Life A Report on the Attitudes and Perceptions of Air Force Commanders written by T. Roger Manley and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study surveyed the attitudes and perceptions of all USAF commanders in the grades of 01-06. It was the 5th in a series of Quality of Air Force Life surveys conducted by the authors. A questionnaire containing 149 attitudinal and demographic questions was distributed to the entire population (about 3400) of USAF officers possessing either the Commander's Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) or the A-prefix to other functional AFSC's. There was about a total of 2695 questionnaires were completed and returned in sufficient time to be included in the analysis which forms the basis of this report. This constituted about a 79% return rate. Qualitative comments provided by 753 respondents were also analyzed. A large majority reported that their jobs are challenging and that they have sufficient authority to carry out their responsibilities. Their job satisfaction was substantially higher than that of a 1975 AF-wide sample of officers. Almost half reported that their current organizations had experienced manning reductions since they assumed command. A larger percentage reported experiencing an increase in administrative procedures and reporting.

Book The Determinants of Job Satisfaction Among United States Air Force Security Forces

Download or read book The Determinants of Job Satisfaction Among United States Air Force Security Forces written by George Edward Smith and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study concluded that characteristics of the work environment had the greatest direct effect on the levels of job satisfaction. "Feedback from the work itself" was the single most important factor in "satisfaction with work." "Time in service," "autonomy" and "feedback from the work itself" were statistically significant in the prediction of "satisfaction with work" while "rank" had an indirect effect on job satisfaction.
