Book Historic Sears Roebuck and Co Catalog Plant

Download or read book Historic Sears Roebuck and Co Catalog Plant written by John Oharenko and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2006-03-29 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Located on the site of the original Sears Tower, the historic Sears, Roebuck and Company catalog plant is one of the nations most unique landmarks. Representing American ingenuity at its best, Richard Sears and Julius Rosenwald combined technology, commerce, and social science with bricks and mortar to build the Worlds Largest Store on Chicagos West Side. Completed in 1906, the plant housed nearly every conceivable product of the time: clothing, jewelry, furniture, appliances, tools, and more. The complex employed 20,000 people, and merchandise orders were processed and delivered by railwithin the same day. During the first two decades of the 20th century, almost half of Americas families shopped the over 300 million catalogs published in that era. WLS (Worlds Largest Store) Radio broadcasted the Gene Autrey show from the top of the tower, and the first Sears retail store opened here on Homan Avenue and Arthington Street. In 1974, Sears moved to the current Sears Tower. Thanks to many individuals who fought to save these architecturally and historically important treasures, the administration building, the original Sears Tower, the catalog press-laboratory building, and the powerhouse remain today. There are currently plans for redeveloping these buildings into housing, office, and retail space. A new Homan Square Community Center stands on the site of the merchandise building.

Book Infinite Personalities

Download or read book Infinite Personalities written by John Oharenko and published by . This book was released on 2019-12-16 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Like the stars in the universe, human personalities seem endless.Infinite Personalities: Searching for the Stars, explores popular character traits more commonly found within the realty profession. The book uses unique caricatures to portray these "stars of the real estate universe." Instead of emphasizing personal behavior psychology, Infinite Personalities discusses popular traits broken down into three overall segments of positive, negative, and neutral - otherwise known as "the good," "the bad," and "the ugly." Realty industry roles, operating styles, behavioral temperament, and other notable variables formulate unique caricatures presented as cartoons. Poetry and prose enhance the caricatures, along with observations, mottos, and applicable quotations.Infinite Personalities demonstrates that real estate "stars" come in various shapes and forms. Depending on the given viewpoint, these stars are good, bad, or ugly, based on the classic Spaghetti Western movie of 1966. In other words, Infinite Personalities is not a textbook or a technical work, but a colorful exploration of human nature within the real estate business world. As the book title suggests, the Infinite Personalities is an open-ended, unfinished project. The illustrated caricatures are as relevant today, as they were in the past, and will be in the future. New personalities are waiting for discovery. So please periodically visit infinitepersonalities.com.Ultimately, hoping Infinite Personalities will help you find your personality, as well as identify other real estate stars!

Book Combat Investor

Download or read book Combat Investor written by John Oharenko and published by . This book was released on 2013-09 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Turf. Space. Territory. For thousands of years it's been worth fighting for, sometimes at all costs. Today, real estate remains one of the most coveted investment targets, and combat tactics are often necessary for financial victory. Real estate investing investing is financial, not military warfare. In the investment battlefields winners build war chests through territorial expansion. Losers retreat, surrendering land holdings. Military battles and real estate investing share the same goals and apply comparable techniques for building wealth and power. Investors who understand and apply proven warfare principles to real estate investing become the ultimate financial warriors...Combat Investors. Combat investing shapes you into a personal weapons system -- an effective combination of your personal operating style, financial capacity, and risk tolerance. You deploy elements from your investment arsenal, acting like a jet fighter, a tank, a bomber, a helicopter, an aircraft carrier, or a submarine. You know when to attack investments at close range (tank) or access hard-to-reach properties (helicopter). Different targets with different swag. That's the beauty of combat investing, the blending of the warrior spirit with real estate smarts. No right answer or personal style, just the hunger to succeed. Combat Investor: Real Estate Investment Warfare Guide is written with this principle in mind, teaching you to become a financial "land mind" by: - Honing your land-grabbing instincts - Providing a formula for a successful war chest, with techniques on assessing capital risks, measuring your thirst for competitive battle, and identifying your individual combat investor "style" - Targeting battlefields based upon locations and property types - Training you to fight in current and future investment battlefronts according to proven military tactics for striking profitable targets If you're starting to see real estate investing through the eyes of a warrior, then join the ranks of combat investors. Crack those knuckles and get going!

Book excerpt: Successful real estate ownership builds upon learning lessons from the past and applying current best practices for creating a brighter future. Regardless of financial success, the ultimate goal rests on achieving personal career fulfillment. To reach this goal, owners and operators need a better understanding of how the profession is changing. Are you still stuck in the past, operating real estate in the Dark Ages? Do you honestly believe you are still a landlord -- a "Lord of the land?" Are your tenants and other occupants considered "serfs?" If so, you're really out of touch. Evict your "landlord" attitude from the premises. Pack up, move to the present. Owning and operating real estate is no longer a one-way conversation, but a synchronized group effort. Today's ownership must not only answer investors and users but to the community, the environment, and others beyond the premises. Owning real estate is a stewardship, not a landlord dictatorship. Real estate ownership holds even more accountability to the future, as resources become precious and scarce. Overwhelming uncertainty looms with technological progress, shifting consumer tastes, and intense competition from sophisticated operators. Real estate is not protected -- but rather infected -- from the massive changes. No one has any clear answers about where the future is heading. At least, asking thoughtful questions leads in the right direction. The Evicted Landlord is a reference manual that updates and refines the real estate ownership principles to reflect today's challenging environment. This manual is designed to help you cultivate your personalized ownership strategies step-by-step, now and into the future. Whenever you're thinking about real estate as an asset class, refer to The Evicted Landlord for the following thought-leadership principles: 1. Understand property ownership history and the concept of the "Landlord." 2. Revisit real estate ownership, property, and location notions using new, more accurate vocabulary. 3. Capture spatial awareness for improving premises usage and economics. 4. Emphasize duties and responsibilities to the premises and beyond. Evicted Landlord jettisons your thinking into the future, where more creative and innovative real estate ownership ideas will continue to flourish.
