The K-12 music curriculum has seldom reflected the ethnic diversity of U.S. society. The Music Educators National Conference maintains that school music must be more broadly defined to encompass this ethnic diversity. The principal aim of this book is to provide a pragmatic approach to the integration of world music traditions in general music classes, particularly at the upper elementary, middle school, and high school levels.
