Book Creeping Property of Soft Aluminum magnesium zinc Alloys at Temperatures from 90 to 180 Degrees C

Download or read book Creeping Property of Soft Aluminum magnesium zinc Alloys at Temperatures from 90 to 180 Degrees C written by Franz Bollenrath and published by . This book was released on 1947 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some aluminum-copper-magnesium and aluminum-zinc-magnesium alloys with varying zinc and magnesium contents have been subjected to 300 hours of testing to determine their creeping properties at temperatures from 90 to 180 degrees C. At the same time, other physical properties of these alloys were checked and it was found that the copper content improved the creeping property. Alloys rich in magnesium show low creeping properties.

Book An Introduction to Magnesium Alloys

Download or read book An Introduction to Magnesium Alloys written by John B. Hallowell and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes the characteristics and properties of existing commercial magnesium alloys and compares these relative to each other. Although this report is not intended to serve as a source of design data for magnesium alloys, it was written to provide a simple, up-to-date background of information for the technologist who is faced with the problem of materials selection and who is unfamiliar with the advantages and discaadvantages of magnesium alloys. The eight major alloying elements which are used to control the properties of magnesium are listed along with selected data illustrating the binary phase relationships which exist, between the hexagonal, close-packed structure of magnesium and each of these metals. The nomenclature system for commercial magnesium alloys is explained and compositions and available forms of the alloys are given. Property comparisons of both cast and wrought alloys are presented. There is a section in the report dealing with the joining, forming, and machining of magnesium, and a section devoted to a discussion of a number of finishing systems which have been developed for magnesium alloys. Book Magnesium Alloys

Download or read book Magnesium Alloys written by Frank Czerwinski and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2011-01-14 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A resistance of magnesium alloys to surface degradation is paramount for their applications in automotive, aerospace, consumer electronics and general-purpose markets. An emphasis of this book is on oxidation, corrosion and surface modifications, designed to enhance the alloy surface stability. It covers a nature of oxides grown at elevated temperatures and oxidation characteristics of selected alloys along with elements of general and electrochemical corrosion. Medical applications are considered that explore bio-compatibility of magnesium alloys. Also techniques of surface modifications, designed to improve not only corrosion resistance but also corrosion fatigue, wear and other behaviors, are described. The book represents a valuable resource for scientists and engineers from academia and industry.

Book Magnesium lithium Alloys

Download or read book Magnesium lithium Alloys written by Paul D. Frost and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A brief review is presented of progress in the development of Mg-Li-base alloys. By virtue of the Li, which has a specific gravity of 0.53, they have lower densities than any commercial Mg alloy. Li markedly improves the ductility and workability of magnesium. Since they have approximately the same modulus of elasticity as Mg alloys, about 6.5 million psi, the alloys have a high ratio of elastic modulus to weight, making possible rigid, light structures. No Mg-Li alloys are in commercial production. (Author).
