Book excerpt: If two are better than one... then three is best! Alpha couple Richard and Dusty may not fit the world's sense of normal, but they have each other. As a graphic designer who works from home while his pilot husband is off flying the friendly skies, Dusty spends way too many hours alone. Hours spent longing for a family, the family that the orphaned alpha is sadly lacking. Rich never wanted children, but after a decade with his husband, the alpha is ready to open his heart to a child. Even if children are sticky, dirty, and downright irritating, for the most part. Certainly his own child will be above all that. After all, isn't it all just a matter of proper parenting? Josiah isn't in the market for an alpha. He just needs to stay in forward motion and keep his eye on the prize as he juggles two jobs to raise his little sister who became his charge when their parents died. She's smart. Wicked smart. But her school is convinced she's too challenged, that she'll never be able to finish regular high school, let alone college, refusing to recognize she is brilliant though severely dyslexic. To get her the help she needs, Josiah needs money, and a lot of it. Surrogacy seems his only option. He can't imagine doing it for just anyone, though, and soon, Dusty and Richard become more than just the daddies of the baby he's carrying... This book is 80k of sweet heat as only Harper B. Cole and Susi Hawke can bring, but don't worry, it's not too... knotty

Book Applied Surrogate Endpoint Evaluation Methods with SAS and R

Download or read book Applied Surrogate Endpoint Evaluation Methods with SAS and R written by Ariel Alonso and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-11-30 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An important factor that affects the duration, complexity and cost of a clinical trial is the endpoint used to study the treatment’s efficacy. When a true endpoint is difficult to use because of such factors as long follow-up times or prohibitive cost, it is sometimes possible to use a surrogate endpoint that can be measured in a more convenient or cost-effective way. This book focuses on the use of surrogate endpoint evaluation methods in practice, using SAS and R.

Book Non linear Data Analysis on the Sphere

Download or read book Non linear Data Analysis on the Sphere written by Gregor Rossmanith and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-23 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work deals with the search for signatures of non-Gaussianities in the cosmic microwave background (CMB). Probing Gaussianity in the CMB addresses one of the key questions in modern cosmology because it allows us to discriminate between different models of inflation, and thus concerns a fundamental part of the standard cosmological model. The basic goal here is to adapt complementary methods stemming from the field of complexity science to CMB data analysis. Two key concepts, namely the method of surrogates and estimators for local scaling properties, are applied to CMB data analysis. All results show strong non-Gaussianities and pronounced asymmetries. The consistency of the full sky and cut sky results shows convincingly for the first time that the influence of the Galactic plane is not responsible for these deviations from Gaussianity and isotropy. The findings seriously call into question predictions of isotropic cosmologies based on the widely accepted single field slow roll inflation model.

Book Protein Protein Interaction Regulators

Download or read book Protein Protein Interaction Regulators written by Siddhartha Roy and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2020-12-15 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New genomic information has revealed the crucial role that protein-protein interactions (PPIs) play in regulating numerous cellular functions. Aberrant forms of these interactions are common in numerous diseases and thus PPIs have emerged as a vast class of critical drug targets. Despite the importance of PPIs in biology, it has been extremely challenging to convert targets into therapeutics and targeting PPIs had long been considered a very difficult task. However, over the past decade the field has advanced with increasing growth in the number of successful PPI regulators. Protein-Protein Interaction Regulators surveys the latest advances in the structural understanding of PPIs as well as recent developments in modulator discovery.
