Book Alloy Selection for Service in Chlorine Hydrogen Chloride and Hydrochloric Acid

Download or read book Alloy Selection for Service in Chlorine Hydrogen Chloride and Hydrochloric Acid written by Michael Davies and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 11 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gaseous chlorine at low temperatures and in the absence of moisture is not particularly corrosive and is commonly handled in carbon steel. If any water is present, however, chlorine becomes aggressive to many metals. Similarly, dry hydrogen chloride (HCl) is not corrosive to most metals. Once it is dissolved in water hydrochloric acid is formed and this is corrosive to many metals and alloys. In this publication, each of these three substances, chlorine, hydrogen chloride and hydrochloric acid is discussed under various conditions. Materials considered include steels, stainless steels, nickel-base alloys, copper-base alloys, titanium, zirconium and tantalum.

As such, it provides scientists and engineers manufacturing and utilizing these materials with comprehensive information, including tabulated data and references, on their corrosion behavior when in contact with acids and hydroxides.

Book Corrosion and Corrosion Protection Handbook

Download or read book Corrosion and Corrosion Protection Handbook written by Schweitzer and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-09-20 with total page 681 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Continuing to provide excellent, state-of-the-art information on corrosion and practicalsolutions for reducing corrosion, the Second Edition contains valuable suggestionson how to select the best construction material for a specific application . . . choose anappropriate initial design to avoid inherent corrosion pitfalls . .. determine whatcorrosion problems may exist or develop, as well as the possible extent of the problems. .. and establish practices to monitor corrosion of existing equipment. In addition to significantly revising and expanding all chapters to reflect recent progressin the field, such as the development of materials for pollution control and methods ofcontrolling/preventing corrosion, Corrosion and Corrosion ProtectionHandbook, Second Edition features detailed discussions on such new topics asatmospheric corrosion, designing to prevent corrosion, sheet linings, and corrosioninhibitors.

Book Uhlig s Corrosion Handbook

Download or read book Uhlig s Corrosion Handbook written by R. Winston Revie and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-04-12 with total page 1299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book serves as a reference for engineers, scientists, and students concerned with the use of materials in applications where reliability and resistance to corrosion are important. It updates the coverage of its predecessor, including coverage of: corrosion rates of steel in major river systems and atmospheric corrosion rates, the corrosion behavior of materials such as weathering steels and newer stainless alloys, and the corrosion behavior and engineering approaches to corrosion control for nonmetallic materials. New chapters include: high-temperature oxidation of metals and alloys, nanomaterials, and dental materials, anodic protection. Also featured are chapters dealing with standards for corrosion testing, microbiological corrosion, and electrochemical noise.

Book Corrosion of Titanium

Book Corrosion Resistance of Titanium Alloys in Media of Organochlorine Synthesis

Download or read book Corrosion Resistance of Titanium Alloys in Media of Organochlorine Synthesis written by A. M. Sukhotin and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 11 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Titanium - Mo alloy 4201 has high corrosion resistance in media containing 10-17% hydrochloric and 10% formic acids at 100C. An increase in the corrosion resistance of titanium VT1-1 in organochlorine media in the pressence of hydrochloric acid at 100C can be achieved by introducing an oxidizer, for example, 0.01-0.1% oxygen compounds of chlorine. Titanium VT1-1 and alloys 4204 and 4201 break down very rapidly in anhydrous organochlorine media in the presence of phosgene and hydrogen chloride at a temperature of about 140C.
