Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rhea is a renowned psychologist, sexologist and relationship coach. While on a holiday, she meets Rohan, a famous Indian actor who chances upon her notebook and believes she is the only one who will be able to help him with his issues. Rohan has cold feet as his wedding day approaches. But is that all? He embarks on a therapeutic journey with Rhea with the support of her fiancé Siddhartha. This begins the unravelling of many childhood secrets and emotions. Will he overcome these overpowering emotions that have become a part of him? Can he rise above deep, long-term wounds and bonds? Will he go through with the marriage? Siddhartha and Rhea set some interesting relationship goals for every couple. The book elucidates how important it is to destroy the old psychology and develop a new one. A heavy and sensitive subject is presented in the simplest and most light-hearted manner possible. #NewHuman Today’s mankind is a product of the culture of thousands of years. From the time we are born, we are socialized into playing traditional gender roles. Certain differences between the sexes are natural while the others are cultural and social (manmade). The book explores men and women’s relationships with each other—mother-son, father-daughter, mother-daughter, father-son, brother-sister, girlfriend-boyfriend, husband-wife—and themselves. Be it any relationship, there are men and women involved. The kind of relationship we share with the same or opposite gender stems from our very first relationship with that gender, that is, with a mother and a father. And this is what the book deals with. Delving into the dynamics of these relationships, it brings forth a new definition of what it means to be a man or a woman through the characters Rhea, Siddhartha and Rohan.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of a 2017 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work, this moving manifesto “empowers women to access a fearlessness that will enable community progress” (Essence). Through one incredible woman’s journey from a small Zimbabwe village to becoming one of the world’s most recognizable voices in women’s empowerment and education, this book “can help any woman achieve her full potential” (Kirkus Reviews). Before Tererai Trent landed on Oprah’s stage as her “favorite guest of all time,” she was a woman with a forgotten dream. As a young girl in a cattle-herding village in Zimbabwe, she dreamed of receiving an education but instead was married young and by eighteen, without a high school graduation, she was already a mother of three. Tererai encountered a visiting American woman who assured her that anything was possible, reawakening her sacred dream. Tererai planted her dreams deep in the earth and prayed they would grow. They did, and now not only has she earned her PhD but she has also built schools for girls in Zimbabwe, with funding from Oprah. The Awakened Woman: A Guide for Remembering & Igniting Your Sacred Dreams is her accessible, intimate, and evocative guide that teaches nine essential lessons to encourage all women to reexamine their dreams and uncover the power hidden within them—power that can recreate our world for the better. Tererai points out that there is a massive, untapped, global resource in women who have, for one reason or another, set aside their wisdom, their skills, and their dreams in order to take care of the personal business of their lives. Not only is this a type of invisible suffering experienced by countless women, this rich resource is a secret weapon for improving our world. Women have the capacity to inspire, to create, to transform—and Tererai’s call to action “shines as a beacon of hope to women everywhere” (Danica McKellar, actress and New York Times bestselling author).

A Room of One's Own [1929] can be read as one or as six different essays, narrated from an intimate first-person perspective. Actual history blends with narrative and memoir. With novels like Jacob’s Room [1922], Mrs Dalloway [1925], To the Lighthouse [1927], and Orlando [1928], she became a leading figure of modernism and is considered one of the most important English-language authors of the 20th century. Book Charting the Supernatural Judgements of Planet Earth

Download or read book Charting the Supernatural Judgements of Planet Earth written by Jerimiah Asher and published by Author House. This book was released on 2010-08-10 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chapter 3 The First Judgment: The World Prior To Adam There may have been many judgments upon the earth since its beginning millions or billions of years ago; however, the present commentary will deal only with the last tens of thousands of years of earth’s existence. In Genesis 1:2, the verses written by Moses (as author of the Genesis account) portray an earth that was veiled in darkness so that its form could not be discerned. The earth at that time was covered with water (ice) high above the mountain tops so that it gave the appearance of being a dark revolving sphere of frozen water (Table-2). God’s spirit is described as hovering over this revolving ball of water and brooding over the sad condition of this dark, void planet. God did not create a dark and dismal planet at the beginning, because God does not create darkness; in fact, darkness is incompatible with His existence and presence. So what had happened that God viewed (Gen. 1:2) such a decrepit state of the world? Does scripture attempt to explain this phenomenon, or does the inspired word of God remain silent on this issue? It was first proposed as a theory by the Scotsman Thomas Chalmers in the early 19th century that a “gap” in time existed between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2. This gap-in-time would encompass a “ruin-reconstruction theme” and the existence of pre-Adamic living beings. Obviously, a huge catastrophic event would have had to occur to produce this decadent state of the world. The “gap concept” was later popularized by mention in the margin notes of the Scofield Reference Bible.

Book Ursula K Le Guin Conversations on Writing

Download or read book Ursula K Le Guin Conversations on Writing written by Ursula K. Le Guin and published by Tin House Books. This book was released on 2018-04-03 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ursula K. Le Guin discusses her fiction, nonfiction, and poetry?both her process and her philosophy?with all the wisdom, profundity, and rigor we expect from one of the great writers of the last century. When the New York Times referred to Ursula K. Le Guin as America’s greatest writer of science fiction, they just might have undersold her legacy. It’s hard to look at her vast body of work?novels and stories across multiple genres, poems, translations, essays, speeches, and criticism?and see anything but one of our greatest writers, period. In a series of interviews with David Naimon (Between the Covers), Le Guin discusses craft, aesthetics, and philosophy in her fiction, poetry, and nonfiction respectively. The discussions provide ample advice and guidance for writers of every level, but also give Le Guin a chance to to sound off on some of her favorite subjects: the genre wars, the patriarchy, the natural world, and what, in her opinion, makes for great writing. With excerpts from her own books and those that she looked to for inspiration, this volume is a treat for Le Guin’s longtime readers, a perfect introduction for those first approaching her writing, and a tribute to her incredible life and work.

Book Women Scientists in Fifties Science Fiction Films

Download or read book Women Scientists in Fifties Science Fiction Films written by Bonnie Noonan and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2015-02-18 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 1950s, science was rapidly advancing, and so were scientific opportunities for women. Modern science fiction films reflected these simultaneous social developments. This book proposes that the social ideology of the 1950s, which was partly concerned with gender issues, saturated the B science fiction films of that era and inspired a new appreciation for the role of women in scientific advancements and other social achievements. Drawing on feminist literary and cultural theory, the author argues that the emergence of the modern American science fiction film in 1950 and the situation of post-World War II female scientists together created a film genre. That genre was explicitly amenable to exploring the tension between a woman's place in her home and her place in the work force, particularly in scientific fields. Early chapters provide a general introduction to the science fiction genre and specifically describe 1950s B science fiction films as they resonate with concerns proper to feminist theory. Subsequent chapters offer detailed, historically situated readings of 10 B science fiction films from the 1950s that feature women in science. The cinematic representations of female scientists are compared and contrasted with real female professionals of the time, illuminating the changing gender dynamics reflected in popular film in the 1950s. Films analyzed include Rocketship X-M, It Came from Beneath the Sea, Them!, Tarantula, The Deadly Mantis, Beginning of the End, Kronos, Cat-Women of the Moon, World Without End, and Queen of Outer Space.
