Book It s All About the Guest

Download or read book It s All About the Guest written by Steve Difillippo and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2013-10-15 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When’s the last time you picked up a business book that was so engaging you couldn’t put it down? Steve Difillippo was only 24 when he opened his first Davio’s restaurant. Since then, he’s wowed Julia Child with his pomodoro, overlooked some triple-X rated shenanigans at Table 7, taken on American Express, gotten himself into Time and Newsweek (for taking on American Express), cooked a rabbit for Stevie Ray Vaughn, inadvertently gotten a guest divorced, whipped up some tasty eats at the Super Bowl--and that’s just the beginning. The money hasn’t been bad, either: that first restaurant is now the hub of a rapidly growing $50 million restaurant brand group and a $10 million Davio’s brand food line. With guests constantly asking how he did it, Steve has written the ultimate guide to starting a restaurant, running a successful business, enjoying food, and living life. The 5.9 million restaurant workers who say they want to open their own restaurant will go nuts over this book, but so will anybody who loves food and the restaurant world--heck, anybody who wants to make money and have a blast doing it. As a special bonus, Steve includes twelve classic Davio’s recipes.

Book It S All About Me

Download or read book It S All About Me written by Juanita Johnson and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-05-20 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I, like many others in this country, was raised very, very poor. Thats not really what this story is about. Actually, thats part of it but the constant moving is the real story. I cant remember all the places I have lived. The longest we ever lived in one place is 5 years. Mostly, it was just a few months. The ironic thing is that most of the moving was in California and each place close to the other. They places were far enough apart we had to attend different schools but on the map, they were close. We lived in tents, under a bridge, along the side of the road. The part about being along the side of the road was when I was very small and have no memories of those times. However, the bridge and the tents, I remember. Its an interesting read.

Book All About the Movies

    Book Details:
  • Author : Maurice Rapf
  • Publisher : Scarecrow Press
  • Release : 2000-11-01
  • ISBN : 1461706394
  • Pages : 117 pages

Download or read book All About the Movies written by Maurice Rapf and published by Scarecrow Press. This book was released on 2000-11-01 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Movies are a passion shared by people of all ages and backgrounds. Maurice Rapf, the first director of the Film Studies Program at Dartmouth College, recognizes that most people who profess a love of the movies have not spent much time learning about them. He has written this text as an attempt to fill in some of the information that movie-lovers should have but usually don't. The information contained in the book has been gleaned from courses that he has taught at Dartmouth over the past thirty years. From 30 years of experience, Rapf assembles the essential information every movie lover should know. It begins with a brief history, followed by a description of the movie-making process, broken down into five components—literary, administrative, shooting, editing and post-production, and marketing. Drawing from his own experience as a magazine film critic, Rapf then outlines how critics work and how studios woo their favor. He also touches on some of the forms movies have taken—as animation, documentary, avant-garde, and as promotion and education. Not to be read as an all-inclusive guide, this work can be seen instead as a launching-point for a deeper appreciation of the movies.

Book It s All About Love

    Book Details:
  • Author : Fran Wellgood
  • Publisher : Balboa Press
  • Release : 2019-04-25
  • ISBN : 1982225890
  • Pages : 228 pages

Download or read book It s All About Love written by Fran Wellgood and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2019-04-25 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What if we loved ourselves more than we could imagine? We are told to love ourselves, but we don't know how or even why. What if we learned actual techniques that helped us love ourselves and align our energy with our Higher Self and the Universe for a more joyous life? It’s possible, and it just takes willingness and practice. When we learn and use real tools, we are better able to surf the waves of life, and meet life with grace. When we learn how we are resisting loving ourselves and learn how to allow the love we are to flow through us, we utilize the buoyant, loving energy of the Universe to flow more smoothly and joyously through life. Everything is energy, including us! When our energy is in balance and flows smoothly, we feel harmonious, peaceful, and aligned with our true nature, our Higher Self, part of the Universe. This is our natural state. Daily life often seems to interrupt our connection with our true state of being. By working with our energy and metaphysical principles, we can remember who we really are; we realign with our true self, which is pure Love, and experience the ease, peace, and joy that results. Metaphysics is about using the energy we are beyond our body in a practical way while we are in this body. By understanding that we are both human and Divine and having compassion for how challenging it is to live in this world, we begin to understand Love, the most powerful force in the Universe. This is not mysterious; this is very real and very available to each of us. The keys to healing are Love and Willingness. The keys are yours for the taking.

Book All about Thelma and Eve

Download or read book All about Thelma and Eve written by Judith Roof and published by University of Illinois Press. This book was released on 2002 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inviting us to "wallow in the middle," Judith Roof offers a fresh, inventive look at female comic secondary characters who, though never on center stage, play an indispensable role in enriching and complicating the course of the narrative. Paying attention to these characters shows that narrative is not always as straight as it might seem. Focusing on such superb comic seconds as Eve Arden, Thelma Ritter, Rosalind Russell, and Whoopi Goldberg, Roof explores what is queer about the middle--in the sense of eccentric and in terms of desire--and how that queerness functions as a part of and an antidote to narrative. Shrewd, pragmatic, self-denying, perceptive, outspoken, and witty, these female characters are able to cross the bounds of social groupings, gender expectations, and propriety, presenting possibilities that threaten the "fitting ends" of narrative closure: norms such as heterosexuality, production, reproduction, knowledge, and victory. Roof characterizes female seconds as modern-day versions of the Shakespearean fool, able to speak the truth without being punished for it. Discussing films ranging from Mildred Pierce, Auntie Mame, and Rear Window to Stage Door, Sister Act, and The Associate, she shows how Hollywood's recasting of the wise servant figure as female, unattached, and lower class reflects more general cultural anxieties about the role of women, gender confusion, race, and class distinctions. She also tracks changes in the form and function of the minor and middle from the stylized, hierarchical economy of classical Hollywood film to the expanded, serial variety fitted to 1990s commodity culture. A meticulous, playful rereading of Hollywood classics from the margins, All about Thelma and Eve registers both delight in these female characters and discernment of their integral role in unseating narrative and other norms.

Book It s All About God s Love

Download or read book It s All About God s Love written by William T. Kremmell and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2019-03-21 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In today’s society couched in secularism, relativism, and general moral decline, many people may have lost a sense of sin and are struggling to embrace the importance of spiritual healing. Thankfully God always welcomes us back to experience God’s merciful and healing love. In an uplifting and deeply spiritual presentation, retired priest William Kremmell underscores a basic truth of Christian faith: that our God is a God of unconditional, all-embracing love and forgiveness for all people, revealed in Jesus. Throughout his study, Father Kremmell examines why God’s love is everlasting, why we are all sinners, the major reasons why Catholics do not approach the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and the reasons why they should return to this grace-filled experience—all while helping believers find a healthy sense of sin, a new appreciation of the God who is love, and a better understanding of the Sacrament as a sign of God’s merciful presence and life-giving power in our lives. It’s All about God’s Love is a retired priest’s exploration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and why it needs to be renewed and restored as an integral element of the spiritual journey of today’s Catholic.
