Download or read book Carbonatites Nepheline Syenites Kimberlites and Related Rocks in British Columbia written by British Columbia. Geological Survey Branch and published by Province of British Columbia, Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources. This book was released on 1994 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study documents alkaline rock occurrences in British Columbia; describes their petrography, geochemistry, economic geology, and field relationships; and determines the timing and tectonic controls of emplacement, providing a basis for future, detailed studies. Work was begun in 1984 and included field mapping during the summers of 1984, 1985, and 1986. All the carbonatite-syenite localities (with the exception of the Wicheeda Lake and Mount Bisson showings) and a large number of the diatreme breccias were mapped and sampled.

Book Principles of Practical Tectonic Analysis of Cratonic Regions

Download or read book Principles of Practical Tectonic Analysis of Cratonic Regions written by Henry Lyatsky and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-04-10 with total page 487 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Steep crystalline-basement faults, commonly indicated by potential-field anomalies, played a crucial role in evolution of continental cratonic platforms. In the Phanerozoic Western Canada Sedimentary Province, history of crustal block movements and warps is reconstructed from the distribution of depocenters, lithofacies and structures in structural-formational étages in sedimentary cover. Each étage is a rock succession formed during a particular tectonic stage; regional tectonic restructuring closes each stage, and the next stage represents a new tectonic regime. Practical tectonic analysis, based on observation of rocks and geophysical data, is a reliable guide for deciphering a region's geologic history and for resource exploration.

Book Vanadium

Download or read book Vanadium written by Baoxiang Yang and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2020-11-28 with total page 564 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vanadium: Extraction, Manufacturing and Applications offers systematic coverage of the state-of-the-art in research and development of vanadium. Five chapters cover the basic background of vanadium, including extraction, applications, and the development of vanadium in industry and manufacturing, with a focus on industrial Panzhihua in China, which has one of the largest reserves of vanadium in the world. Based on the author’s 30+ years of experience in vanadium-based materials, including in industrial development, this book provides a solution for understanding the nature, sourcing, manufacture, and uses of vanadium in high-tech industry. Vanadium is critical to high-tech industry, and is used as a catalyst and as a functional material. It has applications including in high-stress alloys, batteries and supercapacitors, and catalysts. Research on vanadium has accelerated rapidly in scope and depth in recent years. Covers the different vanadium extraction processes Describes the configuration of industry relating to vanadium, focusing on products and processes Details vanadium applications in technology and in relation to particular product categories Considers the case of vanadium resource shortages, and the industry response Provides the necessary background to the theory, practice, technology, and manufacture of vanadium in contemporary industry

Book Phosphate Deposits in British Columbia

Download or read book Phosphate Deposits in British Columbia written by S. B. Butrenchuk and published by British Columbia, Ministry of Employment and Investment. This book was released on 1996 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sedimentary phosphate deposits occur in 14 stratigraphic units in British Columbia in rocks ranging in age from Cambrian to Lower Jurassic. This study begins with an introduction on the phosphate deposits of the North American cordillera. It then reviews the stratigraphy of the sedimentary phosphate deposits in British Columbia and discusses in detail the petrographic and chemical makeup of these phosphate deposits, especially how they relate to phosphate beneficiation. A comprehensive classification of the deposits, based on chemical and mineralogical parameters, is proposed. The trace element content of these deposits is also described, since some of these elements (such as uranium, fluorine, and rare earths) may be recoverable. Details are included on specific phosphate localities, on the beneficiation and processing of British Columbia phosphate rock, and on the resource potential of the deposits identified.

Book Early Jurassic Rossland Group Southern British Columbia

Download or read book Early Jurassic Rossland Group Southern British Columbia written by Trygve Höy and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Rossland Group in south-eastern British Columbia comprises intermediate to mafic volcanic rocks and associated clastic rocks of Lower Jurassic age. The Group hosts a variety of gold and silver deposits and continues to be a target of mineral exploration. The purpose of the study reported is to develop a better understanding of the nature, timing, and controls of mineralization in the Group, particularly the intrusion-related gold-copper veins in the Rossland camp. The report describes the Rossland Group stratigraphy, its paleotectonic setting, and associated intrusions. It summarizes the structure of the Rossland Group area and presents a tectonic model for the Group. Information is also included on the regional geologic setting and the geochemistry of the Elise Formation and plutonic rocks.

Book Origin and Tectonic Setting of Ophiolitic Ultramafic and Related Rocks in the Atlin Area British Columbia NTS 104N

Download or read book Origin and Tectonic Setting of Ophiolitic Ultramafic and Related Rocks in the Atlin Area British Columbia NTS 104N written by Christopher Henry Ash (H.) and published by Province of British Columbia, Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources. This book was released on 1994 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper presents the results of a detailed investigation of the tectonic setting and origin of ultramafic and related rocks in the Atlin area. The Atlin area was selected for detailed study because of its excellent road access, the large number of listwanite-related lode gold occurrences, and the extensive exploration database available for many of these occurrences. Following detailed mapping of the ultramafic rocks underlying the town of Atlin and Monarch Mountain in 1989, the area was revisited in 1990 and the map area extended to establish tectonic relationships between the ultramafic and surrounding lithologies. The phase chemistry of the harzburgite and associated dunite were investigated and are used to establish the origin of the units. Whole-rock major, trace, and rare-earth element chemistry is presented for basaltic rocks spatially associated with the ultramafics. These data are used to place constraints on the paleotectonic eruptive setting of the unit and to model the character of the mantle source from which the rocks were derived.
