Book excerpt: Alien Log II, the New World Order picks up where Alien Log left off, in the desert. During the return to base Corey is abducted. Since the aliens can place a block on the memory of abductees, Corey¿s alien captor, Quellin, freely answers any question he might have. During a tour of the mother craft Corey learns many things. For example, he learns the Big Bang Theory is wrong and how the universe is constructed so that remote viewing, telepathy, and past life¿s regressions are possible. Quellin explains how hybrids will be used to usher in the new world order and what that might look like. Eventually, Corey is released and is joined by Wendy and Pete in their quest to unlock the artifact¿s secrets. Wendy does retrieve information from the artifact but discovers it is too dangerous to pass on to Pete who will dutifully pass it on to the President. In the end, they solve the problem in a most unusual way.

From a secret base the base in an Arizona mountain Colonel Pete Mitchell aids Newton and Ahearn in their mission to decode the artifact. Time is critical and failure could doom human civilization as we know it. The President, a dying general who discovered it, and Pete's team are the only people who know the artifact exists. At least, that's what they believe. The author also tackles the present as higher beings watch over humankind to make sure to avert annihilation via newfound discovery of nuclear power.

Book The Philosophy of Hegel as a Doctrine of the Concreteness of God and Humanity

Download or read book The Philosophy of Hegel as a Doctrine of the Concreteness of God and Humanity written by Ivan Aleksandrovich Ilʹin and published by Northwestern University Press. This book was released on 2010-08-30 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This landmark two-volume translation from Russian of The Philosophy of Hegel as a Doctrine of the Concreteness of God and Humanity marks the first appearance in English of any of the works of Russian philosopher Ivan Aleksandrovich Il’in (Ilyin). Originally published in 1918, on the eve of the Russian civil war, Il'in's commentary on Hegel marked both an apogee of Russian Silver Age philosophy and a significant manifestation of the resurgence of interest in Hegel that began in the early twentieth century. A. F. Losev accurately observed in the same year it appeared: “Neither the study of Hegel nor the study of contemporary Russian philosophical thought is any longer thinkable without this book of I. A. Il’in’s.” Some Hegel scholars may know this work through the abridged translation into German that Il’in produced himself in 1946. However, that edition omitted most of the original volume two. Noted Hegel scholar Philip T. Grier’s edition—with an introduction setting Il’in’s work in its proper historical, cultural, and philosophical contexts and annotation throughout—represents the first opportunity for non-Russian-speaking readers to acquaint themselves with the full scope of Il’in’s still provocative interpretation of Hegel. Volume 1 is "The Doctrine of God." Volume 2 is "The Doctrine of Humanity."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was written in 1968, and defended as a doctoral dissertation before the Philosophical Faculty at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) in 1969. It treats of the systematic views of Hegel which led him to give to the princi ple of non-contradiction, the principle of double negation, and the principle of excluded middle, meanings which are difficult to understand. The reader will look in vain for the philosophical position of the author. A few words about the intentions which motivated the author to study and clarify Hegel's thought are therefore not out of place. In the early sixties, when occupying myself with the history of Marxist philosophy, I discovered that the representatives of the logical-positivist tra dition were not alone in employing a principle of demarcation; that those of the dialectical Marxist tradition were also using such a principle ('self-move ment') as a foundation of a scientific philosophy and as a means to delimit unscientific ideas. I aimed at a clear conception of this principle in order to be able to judge whether, and to what extent, it accords with the foundations of the analytical method. In this endeavor I encountered two problems: (1) What is to be understood by 'analytical method' cannot be ascertained un equivocally.

Book excerpt: Cosmology: Scientific Study of the Universe For thousands of years, humankind has gazed up into the heavens at the beautiful Milky Way galaxy and pondered “From where did it come?” Over the years, as more knowledge was acquired, our views of the universe have changed. Our thinking has evolved from a belief that the Earth was flat, and then it was thought the Earth was the center of the universe. Then the misinterpretation of redshift gave the appearance that everything erupted from a single point. Thinking evolved to the idea of a big bang belief that everywhere is the center of the universe and it is expanding without limit. Now again, we have reached dogma. Scientific thinkers recognize the big bang theory has serious credibility problems. It is now proved and recognized that the big bang concept was inferred from misinterpretation of redshift observations first acquired in the early 1910s at Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona. The big bang theory was concocted before positron/electron combination ‘positroniums’ were known. These smallest of atoms were discovered in the 1930s and not understood until the 1950s. Positroniums have a tremendous amount of energy, and when their positrons and electrons come into contact, they annihilate, the conversion of all their mass into energy that is evolving into all the mass and energy in the universe. The initial annihilation started the cascading at what is now the center of the universe. It is a huge void in the Eridanus constellation, about 10 billion light-years from Earth. Now, we have a provable scientific explanation. Finally, it all makes sense without myth.

Book Principles of Creature Design

Book excerpt: "Designing a captivating creature simply for it to exist against a white background and going no further is a purely academic exercise. Designing a creature that can survive in a world, interact with its own and other species, and go on to make an impact, is designing with intent. This is the end goal of creature design and what you will witness in this latest book from industry expert Terryl Whitlatch. With decades of experience in the entertainment industry, developing creatures for Star Wars: Episode 1 -- The Phantom Menace and Beowulf, among other films, Whitlatch offers an abundance of valuable advice throughout the Principles of Creature Design. For Whitlatch, there's not limit to what can be imagined with an open mind, though the journey may not always be an easy one. It's what she calls "Chasing the unicorn." We will surely enjoy joining her on her journey, filled with creatures so vivid, whimsical, and elaborate that we will wish -- or wonder -- if they are real."--Back cover.

Book Probability With a View Towards Statistics Volume II

Download or read book Probability With a View Towards Statistics Volume II written by J. Hoffman-Jorgensen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-11-22 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume II of this two-volume text and reference work concentrates on the applications of probability theory to statistics, e.g., the art of calculating densities of complicated transformations of random vectors, exponential models, consistency of maximum estimators, and asymptotic normality of maximum estimators. It also discusses topics of a pure probabilistic nature, such as stochastic processes, regular conditional probabilities, strong Markov chains, random walks, and optimal stopping strategies in random games. Unusual topics include the transformation theory of densities using Hausdorff measures, the consistency theory using the upper definition function, and the asymptotic normality of maximum estimators using twice stochastic differentiability. With an emphasis on applications to statistics, this is a continuation of the first volume, though it may be used independently of that book. Assuming a knowledge of linear algebra and analysis, as well as a course in modern probability, Volume II looks at statistics from a probabilistic point of view, touching only slightly on the practical computation aspects.
