Through a chorus of multi-generational voices—in essays ranging in tone from dramatic to humorous—they share stories of growing into and experiencing self-love, spiritual love, love within family, romantic love, the love they nurture for humanity and the world through their professional work, and more. Book Fuzzy Transportation and Transshipment Problems

Download or read book Fuzzy Transportation and Transshipment Problems written by Amarpreet Kaur and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-10-25 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a novel approach to the formulation and solution of three classes of problems: the fully fuzzy transportation problem, the fully fuzzy transshipment problem, and fully fuzzy solid transportation problem. It points out some limitations of the existing formulations and approaches, indicating some possible, conceptually and algorithmically attractive solutions to alleviate them. In particular, the book describes new conceptual and algorithmic solutions for finding the fuzzy optimal solutions of the single-objective fully fuzzy transportation problems, the fully fuzzy transshipment problems and the fully fuzzy solid transportation problems. Moreover, based on the novel concepts and solutions proposed by combining the concept of a fully fuzzy solid transportation problem and a fully fuzzy transshipment problem, it describes a new class of problems, i.e. the fully fuzzy solid trans-shipment problem, together with its fuzzy linear programming formulation and some methods to find its fuzzy optimal solution. The book offers the readers a timely piece of literature in the field of fuzzy linear programming, and is expected to act as a source of inspiration for future research and applications.

Book Encyclopedia of World Women Leaders

Download or read book Encyclopedia of World Women Leaders written by Amarpreet Kaur and published by . This book was released on 2009-01-01 with total page 1020 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leadership has been described as the "process of social influence in which one person is able to enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task". A definition more inclusive of followers comes from Alan Keith of Genentech who said "Leadership is ultimately about creating a way for people to contribute to making something extraordinary happen." It is no longer surprising or incongruous to see a woman as principal of a public high school, manager of a corporate department, dean of a university/college, or anchor on local newscast. Women have breached the barriers to such positions in context with a general relaxation in traditional general-role attitudes as well as changes in public perceptions of what leadership entails. There are ways for both organisations and individuals to support these women, and thus support the progress toward a social structure in which women's leadership is commonplace even in contexts currently defined as masculine. This publication provides the readers with the key information on the said subject in an affordable three-part condensed format. This user-friendly reference publication offers a quick access to all areas of global women leaders. It presents the state of art information in areas covering a brief biography, their life and time, achievements and leadership qualities of most prominent women leaders of the world. The content of this publication is aimed for both qualified and unqualified graduates who possess knowledge on important world personalities. It also provides such readers with knowledge about the works related to prominent women leaders. The objectives of this publication are to provide a broad range of knowledge in this area, as well as the skill/ability to apply this knowledge for further analysis and research. This will also enhance opportunity of the readers for further education in related fields.

Book The Sikhs

    Book Details:
  • Author : Patwant Singh
  • Publisher : Image
  • Release : 2007-12-18
  • ISBN : 0307429334
  • Pages : 268 pages

Download or read book The Sikhs written by Patwant Singh and published by Image. This book was released on 2007-12-18 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Five hundred years ago, Guru Nanak founded the Sikh faith in India. The Sikhs defied the caste system; rejected the authority of Hindu priests; forbade magic and idolatry; and promoted the equality of men and women -- beliefs that incurred the wrath of both Hindus and Muslims. In the centuries that followed, three of Nanak's nine successors met violent ends, and his people continued to battle hostile regimes. The conflict has raged into our own time: in 1984 the Golden Temple of Amritsar -- the holy shrine of the Sikhs--was destroyed by the Indian Army. In retaliation, Sikh bodyguards assassinated Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Now, Patwant Singh gives us the compelling story of the Sikhs -- their origins, traditions and beliefs, and more recent history. He shows how a movement based on tenets of compassion and humaneness transformed itself, of necessity, into a community that values bravery and military prowess as well as spirituality. We learn how Gobind Singh, the tenth and last Guru, welded the Sikhs into a brotherhood, with each man bearing the surname Singh, or "Lion," and abiding by a distinctive code of dress and conduct. He tells of Banda the Brave's daring conquests, which sowed the seeds of a Sikh state, and how the enlightened ruler Ranjit Singh fulfilled this promise by founding a Sikh empire. The author examines how, through the centuries, the Sikh soldier became an exemplar of discipline and courage and explains how Sikhs -- now numbering nearly 20 million worldwide -- have come to be known for their commitment to education, their business acumen, and their enterprising spirit. Finally, Singh concludes that it would be a grave error to alienate an energetic and vital community like the Sikhs if modern India is to realize its full potential. He urges India's leaders to learn from the past and to "honour the social contract with Indians of every background and persuasion."
