Book Air Force Procedure for Predicting Aircraft Noise Around Airbases

Download or read book Air Force Procedure for Predicting Aircraft Noise Around Airbases written by Robert A. Lee and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report is a users manual for the BASEOPS 3.00 program developed by AAMRL/BBE. It describes the installation, use and limitations of this program. BASEOPS is the menu driven computerized airbase operations input program used in doing airbase noise assessments under the USAF Air Installation Compatible Use Zone (AICUZ) program. BASEOPS will create a file that can be directly interfaced to the NOISEMAP 6.0 program, used to calculate the total noise exposure from these input operations. BASEOPS contains default performance profiles (takeoff and landing) for Military Transient and Civil aircraft. The program also allows the user to create a NOISEMAP input file for any subset of the input data through a Global Editing Menu. This can be used for quickly creating multiple noise analyses for different operational input scenarios. Keywords: Acoustics; Aircraft noise; Engine noise; Community noise exposure; Environmental impact. (edc).

Download or read book Air Force Procedure for Predicting Aircraft Noise Around Airbases written by Carey L. Moulton and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes the NOISEMAP 6.0 Noise Exposure Model and is intended as a user's guide for these programs. The report provides operating details on the MCM, OMEGA 10 and 11, and NMAP60 computer programs (which are all encompassed by the term NOISEMAP 6.0). The BASEOPS and NMPLOT programs are also discussed but only in relation to their interaction with NOISEMAP 6.0. Information regarding the changes made between NOISEMAP 6.0 and older versions are listed and a methodology for converting older NOISEMAP decks to this new version is discussed. The limitations of NOISEMAP 6.0 are detailed. An example case is provided for a small joint-use airfield. Three general aviation categories are employed (single, twin, and jet) and one military designation. Appendix C provides a complete listing of all the military and civilian aircraft which are contained in NOISEFILE 6.0 including power settings and airspeeds. Keywords: Acoustics; Aircraft noise; Engine noise; Community noise exposure; Environmental impact. (edc).

Book Validation of Aircraft Noise Exposure Prediction Procedure

Download or read book Validation of Aircraft Noise Exposure Prediction Procedure written by Harry Seidman and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The NOISEMAP predictive procedure is used to describe the noise environment around airbases and thereby aid airbase planners to prevent community encroachment limiting the effectiveness of the installation. This report delineates the results of measurements made over one to three week periods at four Air Force airbases to acquire the data needed to validate and/or modify the noise predictive algorithms in NOISEMAP for takeoff, landing, traffic pattern, and ground runup operations. In general, the algorithms currently used in NOISEMAP provided predictions that agreed well with measured data. It was found the obtaining accurate data on aircraft operational procedures (engine power settings, airspeeds, and flight paths) was essential.

Book Computer Programs for Producing Single Event Aircraft Noise Data for Specific Engine Power and Meteorological Conditions for Use with USAF United States Air Force Community Noise Model NOISEMAP

Download or read book Computer Programs for Producing Single Event Aircraft Noise Data for Specific Engine Power and Meteorological Conditions for Use with USAF United States Air Force Community Noise Model NOISEMAP written by Henry T. Mohlman and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 339 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Air Force community noise prediction model (NOISEMAP) is used to describe the aircraft noise exposure around airbases and thereby aid airbase planners to minimize exposure and prevent community encroachment which could limit mission effectiveness of the installation. This report documents two computer programs (OMEGA 10 and OMEGA 11) which were developed to prepare aircraft flight and ground runup noise data for input to NOISEMAP. OMEGA 10 is for flight operations and OMEGA 11 is for aircraft ground runups. All routines in each program are documented at a level useful to a programmer working with the code or a reader interested in a general overview of what happens within a specific subroutine. Both programs input normalized, reference aircraft noise data; i.e., data at a standard reference distance from the aircraft, for several fixed engine power settings, a reference airspeed and standard day meteorological conditions. Both programs operate on these normalized, reference data in accordance with user-defined, non-reference conditions to derive single-event noise data for 22 distances (200 to 25,000 feet) in a variety of physical and psycho-acoustic metrics. These outputs are in formats ready for input to NOISEMAP. (Author).
